Disney has finally returned to its roots and produced a princess movie that equals Beauty and the Beast. They captured the essence of New Orleans and life in the South without going over the top. The movie is a must see for all girls young and old. You'll walk away with a warm feeling.
Based on the previews, I thought this would be a real dud - too predictable and only midly funny. Boy was I wrong! This movie is extremely funny and outrageous. Obviously, you have to go with the flow of another opposites attract story but just go along with the fun and you'll be highly entertained.
Two thumbs up! This movie is a real surprise - Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds are a delight. But the real star is Betty White - she is an absolute hoot.
I went into this expecting a pale imitation of the first (which was a fresh and enjoyable story); instead I received a delightful surprise. The sequel is every bit as good as the original. Now let's hope they do not run this into the ground with unending future versions.
I went into this movie expecting to one of those hit or miss comedies but instead I was treated to a very funny movie with an actual story! Sure the characters had the usual exagerated traits but both Paul Rudd's Peter and Jason Segel's Sidney were real enough to be believable.
The humor is non-stop and well worth the price of the ticket.
Midly amusing but nothing to write home about. If you saw the previews then you pretty much saw the movie (movie trailers are giving far too much away these days). Vaughn and Witherspoon give it their best shot but the material is weak and the plot is ho hum.
Put it on your Netflix queue but don't waste your money on an evening ticket.
Although the pace can be slow at times, Bottle Shock is a superb movie. Great acting and beautiful scenery make the movie a must see. And as an American, it is good fun to see the French Wine Snobs defeated. As always with these kind of semi-biographical films, much leeway is taken with the truth and a little too much time is spent on the complexities of father-son relationships. However, the fine acting of Chris Pine, Alan Rickman and Freddy Rodriguez more than make up for any shortcomings in the storyline.
This movie is just plain FUN! A rambunctious, non-stop party. I saw it twice this weekend - once with my 70 yr old mother and again with my sister and nieces (14 and 8). We all agreed that this is the chick flick of the summer - it appeals to all ages and will have you singing along and resisting the temptation to jump up and dance in the aisles. Who knew that Meryl Streep had such a voice? And Amanda Seyfried is wonderful as Sophie. Even Pierce Brosnan's lack of singing ability is a minor flaw - his portrayal of Sam is right on. The supporting cast is fantastic and the choreography is well done. 'Dancing Queen' takes the prize for the best number; although 'Does Your Mother Know' is a close second. Julie Waters quirky Rosie and Christine Baranski's gold digger Tanya are perfect complements to the former free-spirited Donna. And Firth and Skarsgard round out the dad lotto with terrific performances. A great movie to take your Mom or your daughter to see. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up.
