I love the first 3 movies. This movie could have been great. The actors were good. The roles were bad and the story was weak. It was an ok movie but maybe Peter Jackson should have done it Lucas seems to have slipped a little. Seems like this movie was done quick and with little effort. This should have been a huge movie.

After waiting almost 20 years, i would have expected a better script than the lackluster alien themed script. The story seems to have been put together with only the thought of cashing in on the franchise in mind. In my opinion, this movie is the least appealing of the 4 in the series, and i really dislike "temple of doom"...this should speak for itself. Wait for a friend to buy the DVD, and borrow it, DON'T BUY IT! Very disappointing!

I went to see Indiana Jones #4 yesterday afternoon. I was skeptical that it would be great, afterall Harrison Ford isn't as young as he use to be, but then neither am I. I thought of all the new characters, Shia LeBeouf's character was the best developed, although, unless I missed it, we never learn why he nicknames himself "Mudd" (of course, we don't learn the meaning of Indy's nickname until movie #3). There was little character developement and I even felt as though Harrison Ford and his own character just weren't really interested in what they were doing. The first part of the movie, to me, was boring. The "set up" was too long. I saw there was a possiblity of the Indiana Jones movies to continue with Shia Lebouf....I look forward to those.

The movie may as well have said Director, Producer, Writer, Staring the Ideas of TOM CRUISE. The action sequences were awesome Shia shined and Cate Blanchett as wonderful as ever. The plot was essentially pushing scientology and the whole belief that those markings were really put in those moutains for the aliens to be able to find their return. If I had not been with friends I would have walked out and gotten my money back. I am glad that I did stay so that I could have a very firm opinion on this movie.

I have to say that I expected a lot more action and a lot less sci-fi out of an Indiana Jones Movie. The fact that they took the sci-fi route made it seem that much more unrealistic to me. In the other movies, what happened to Indy could actually happen in real life, which makes you that much more of a fan. This one was off the charts unrealistic from the ants to the aliens.

REALLY enjoyed this one! My husband and I are great fans of this series. We LOVED all of the clever clips from the previous movies that were "woven" into the story (many of them so subtle, most people will miss them - but not us!!) I can't wait to see it again! My 12 year old granddaughter was with us and she LOVED it! She loved the pace, the humor, and asked us LOTS of questions about the time period. It created a long "post movie" conversation for all of us. Fabulous use of the details from the time. Loved the sets, costumes, and acting. If all the movies could be THIS entertaining. Thank you Mr. Speilberg! You and Mr. Ford make a great team!

A fast paced action adventure with Indian Jones, his whip and his son should be jump out-of-your-seat exciting, but somewhere things fall flat. The Indian Jones series has always been campy, but this newest film takes it off the charts. Rather than explode onto the screen with heart pounding excitement and laughs, Indian Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Scull flops into theaters like an old man might flop onto a couch.
I think it can be said definitively that Indian Jones defined its genre. However, there have been other films, most notable The Mummy (1999) series, for which there is a third film scheduled to come out later this fall. While clearly, The Mummy franchise borrows it's style and sense of humor from Indian Jones, parts of Indian IV seem to rehash elements of The Mummy Returns. While both The Last Crusade and The Mummy have a lost temple that crumbles into oblivion, as do many other movies, the destruction of the temple at the end of Crystal Skull looks strangely reminiscent of the whirling temple vortex at the end of The Mummy Returns. Even the natives protecting the temple in Indie are comparable with the pygmies in Returns. Surely unintentional, these similarities are unsettling. Also, while this fourth film tries to pay homage to the first three films, in doing so it seems all too familiar and ultimately unfulfilling.
While the plot points are too familiar, perhaps the most distracting part of Indie IV is how unfamiliar the character of Indian Jones is. While Harrison Ford as Indie has always delivered his one-liners with a smirk, there was always a weight and intensity to his dire circumstances. In this film, Ford's character seems less and older version of Indiana Jones, and more an old version of a Han Solo. Perhaps the Alzheimer's had him confused on which movie role he was reprising.
It also seems that the movie was more about setting up Mud Williams to carry on the franchise as opposed to telling Indian Jones' story. Rather than balance the story and slowly introduce the Williams character, the movie seemed to be as much about Mud as it was about Indie. Simply put, there was too much Mud too soon.
All said, this movie is still entertaining, despite its flaws, and is definitely worth seeing. Take the time to make up your own mind about the film. You might have a little fun on the way.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This movie was a bit far-fetched for me. I cocked my head a ton and had a great many moments where I was wondering, "WTF?"
I love Indy and I love Marion. I missed Marcus and Dear Old Dad. Shia was decent, but not as strong a performance as he had in Disturbia (which I think he excelled in) and Cate Blanchett was too much of a parody for me to even start to take seriously.
Now that I've listed all my grievances, Indy will always be one of my favorite movie franchises. The actions is always good and the dialog cheesy (which is why I love it so much.)
Can't wait to see if Shia puts on dad's hat in the next one...

I've been waiting for this movie for a long time...Just like many, many other people. At least since I began to hear rumblings of a 4th installment to the series 12 years ago. I'd heard one after another story-line and/or title thrown around...Both lame and interesting. I was first very excited about hearing this and then started to loose faith that another one would ever be made...
So, when I entered the theater last night, I went into it with both an unbridaled sense of anticipation/excitement and a sobering feeling of 'to not expect too much' from it. I knew it would be difficult, if not impossible, to follow up the original trillogy...
I am happy to say that, even though there were some faults in the story line, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was a good, if not more than adequate, addition to the originals. I very much enjoyed the beginning scenes most of all. And the action and quirky humor was very fun and enjoyable to watch throughout the film. It was good to see Harrison Ford come do what he does best...Thrill and entertain us. The only gripes I have are that I didn't like the 'Alien' related story-line, at least not the way it was told. And I didn't like the 'Treasurer Room' set containing 'all the artifacts representing all the periods of human history'...I felt it was needless and for some reason 'took' from the story, but that is a small issue and only my opinion. Either way, I would recomend this 4th Indiana Jones film to anyone...It was well done...

I have been to all of the earlier Indy movies at the first showing with excited fans that cheer our hero with enthusiasm. I went to the 9:30 AM show (getting too old for the midnight one) and was not disappointed. I was expecting to see lots of action--got it. And was curious to see what would happen with having the Marion Ravenwood character back--it was kinda predictable and cutsie, but the end made sense to me. The temple scenes brought to mind some of the special effects from "The Mummy" adventure movie series. So even though the movie was "formula" it was still very well done with. It was fun to catch the references to other Spielberg films or to see how they incorporated pop culture from that time.
What surprised me was how the film stayed in my mind later that evening. I did love this, would recommend highly to other fans, and would see it again.

Leave it to them to hype up a movie classic and then not deliver. Movie was good, but lacking the true Indy quality.Overall too cheezy with its scenes and too long and boring at times. If you don't mind "hollywood cheese" then by all means go see it. If you are like me and can wait till it comes out on dvd, then wait so you don't pay 10 bucks to say "come on now". Good family movie, but not as good as the classics. Thanks Hollywood for a 2 1/2 hour "cheesefest", next time work more on plot and less on lame stunts and special effects.

I Love Indiana! I have all the movies, memorabilia, I'm an Indy junkie. I'm also very dissapointed!!!! After waiting over a year for the release, this is not Indy (Ford was great and he will always be Indiana Jones). The plot is terrible, inconsistent and jumps all over the globe without any consistency. The story was hard to follow and the dialogue seem to ramble without a central theme. I still can't get over the ending, where in the world did that come from, or should I say where out of this world did that come from. I was truly dissapointed and to me there are still only 3 Indian Jones movies!!

This movie is set apart from the other 3, not putting it down in anyway, but the movie is different in all aspects, with in depth characters involvement, thickening plots, awesome myth stories, etc. Not to mention special effects, jeez! The movie is just a crazy thrill ride till the end. Harrison Ford is still awesome, dont care what everyone thinks of his age, he still did majority of his stunts right? Shia did a great job as well! there was a trailer for his upcoming movie, it looks sick!

If you have a decent home theater system, wait for the video.
What I love about the old Indiana Jones movies is the fact that the action sequences (while highly improbable) actually could occur in real life. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull went a little overboard... surviving a nuclear blast... come on! At some point in the movie the action sequences became a kind of joke... illiciting a giggle here and there. Also, Kingdom... seemed to contain a lot more supernatural elements than the old Indy movies. Obviously there is always a hint of the supernatural, but it's done in such a way that it seems almost 'plausible'... once again, this one goes overboard.
All in all the movie was entertaining, but did not live up to the legacy of the originals. The acting was decent and special effects were good. There were definitely some memorable moments (I won't spoil it), and Kingdom definitely contained some classic Indy moments.... chases through the jungle, booby traps and falling structures. If I had it to do over again I wouldn't have spent $21.50 on tickets, I'd wait for the video.

This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen, and I really enjoyed the first three Indiana movies.
It seems that George Lucas can do nothing else but parody himself these days.
The audio production was poor, the script was poor, the acting was (mostly) poor, the physics were insultingly stupid (and I will allow a lot of liberty here) making Jones and cast unbelievably superhuman.
The villain is weak, and there are, seriously, anthropomorphic groundhogs.
Don't even bother with this garbage unless you are prepared to see a 2 hour long tongue in cheek joke.

I think I've seen every Indy movie 100 times and I don't think I will see this one twice. It had a horrible flow and feel compared to the original trilogy. The plot was okay but failed to have the mystic and mystery of Raiders or any of the others. To much was shoved into the time frame making it just a big mess of bad dialogue and predictable scenario's. It almost felt like one of those Indiana Jones rip movies from the 80's with 00 gloss on it. The one bright point Harrison Ford did an Excellent job of reviving the character he was just let down by the rest of the movie. See only if you really need to waste 2 hrs. of your life. Lucas and Spielberg are the ones in this case who "chose poorly". A truly disappointing end to a series held in such high regard for so long.

is KOTCS perfect? No. Is it Raiders? No. It doesn't have to be though. KOTCS is an insane fun ride that you rarely get in movies these days and folks should try to just sit back and enjoy the ride. Think the anything goes attitude of Temple of Doom mixed with the comedy of Last Crusade and add a little AI and you got KOTCS. It that doesn't sound like your cup of tea, then maybe this isn't the one for one...

I was so looking forward to this so probably meeting my expectations was difficult to do. I am older so I can relate to an aged Indy and Marion but at some point in your life you have to admit you can't do the things you used to. At the beginning in the warehouse I had to laugh when Indy was getting down from pile of boxes..he looked like a senior citizen with a hitch in his get-along!! Ha! I didn't like the whole alien civilization thing...I thought it wa really a stretch...that's the best that Lucas could come up with in soooo many years!!?? I guess overall I did enjoy it just not what I had hoped for.

First of all I must say I'm a huge fan of the Indiana Jones movies...my order of faves: Raiders, Crusade, then Temple. I wasnt expecting anything great, but I was hoping it would be better than Temple of Doom. I WANTED to like this movie...but it somehow managed to be worse than Temple. The story was just WAAY overdone to the point where I didnt feel like I was watching an Indiana Jones film. Some pretty absurd things happen, and while these movies are supposed to be exaggerated reality, this was simply too much.
Indiana Jones movies have a simplicity to them that somehow make them grand. This movie tried too hard to be grand and as a result lost that magic feeling that you get from the old films, the old equation simply was not there. After the film was over I left the theater depressed and felt I had lost a bit of my faith in humanity.

This was not Indiana Jones as originally presented to the public of the eighties, this was some SciFi channel knock off. It had to be. The visuals were terrible. You were always conscious of the fact that the action scenes were for the most part green screened. Most of the action seems to have taken place on a soundstage- were there any sets, save the opening scene? Even the warehouse was mostly computer generated! The "action" was boring, as it never feels anyone is in danger. The repartee is way too cute, and poorly written. The final revelation was incoherent and small scale. Worries of whether or not Harrison Ford was too young to perform stunts were unwarranted- there weren't any! No booby-traps, no scary, gross-out scenes, no shoot-outs (Indy was never averse to shooting a baddie before), no awesome set piece action scene.... NO SALE!
If Steven Spielberg hadn't been involved, if Lucas hadn't done such a good job on the first three stories, if ILM wasn't the special effects shop producing the visuals, if Harrison Ford hadn't come out of virtual retirement, IF THEY HADN'T CALLED THIS INDIANA JONES... it would still have been boring, but much less disappointing.

Just because CGI allows one to place anything that they can imagine into ones movie, does not mean that one should. The previous films were more about their story lines and the discovery of the mystery, than filling the screen with constant CGI effects. It just became too incredulous, even for an Indiana Jones movie.
