This was not Indiana Jones as originally presented to the public of the eighties, this was some SciFi channel knock off. It had to be. The visuals were terrible. You were always conscious of the fact that the action scenes were for the most part green screened. Most of the action seems to have taken place on a soundstage- were there any sets, save the opening scene? Even the warehouse was mostly computer generated! The "action" was boring, as it never feels anyone is in danger. The repartee is way too cute, and poorly written. The final revelation was incoherent and small scale. Worries of whether or not Harrison Ford was too young to perform stunts were unwarranted- there weren't any! No booby-traps, no scary, gross-out scenes, no shoot-outs (Indy was never averse to shooting a baddie before), no awesome set piece action scene.... NO SALE! If Steven Spielberg hadn't been involved, if Lucas hadn't done such a good job on the first three stories, if ILM wasn't the special effects shop producing the visuals, if Harrison Ford hadn't come out of virtual retirement, IF THEY HADN'T CALLED THIS INDIANA JONES... it would still have been boring, but much less disappointing.
