Okay, I brought my own nachos to this movie because I knew it was going to be cheesy....but wow...what a way to ruin a great movie series. I never had great expectations on this movie because, very few #4's ever really make it memorable. The stories of Indy's past movies were mostly mythical/biblical or interesting.....the story for this movie is, well, boring. The actors walked through this movie without really any care. Harrison Ford is well, the only thing that is almost tolerable. I was happy that they kept the meds going enough so Karen Allen could participate in the only memorable role of her career and last but not least.....Shaia Lebrouf...Labon...whoever.....next generation action guy....yeah...I know .....I know.....anyways, he's just annoying. There are no big twists or turns in this cash cow of a movie....oh, it will make millions.....but so did the Matrix trilogy and they were bad too. I won't ruin the movie for anyone, but Lucas who gave birth to one of the best franchise of the world and the one that killed it, should not be given a script or any voice in the movie industry. Retire sir, please. You killed my childhood with your 'new,' versions of 'Star Wars,' and you killed the last story of Indiana Jones. Mr. Spielberg, I will forgive you this time, but, I hope we don't see another forced film of just bad story telling like this again. There are several glimpses in the movie that one will recognize, but then are overshadowed by the rest of the story. I know you'll go see it, and then you might actually come back to this site and reread the reviews....maybe even this one and say to yourself......Darn you.....Darn you for being right!

I loved this movie and appreciated all of the nods to the previous three, but there was a problem. I know a fair amount of Mayan legends, Crystal Skulls, and various themes from the Lost City of Atlantis (check out Greg Donegan's books on Atlantis) whether you think it's relevant or not (it is) and that's why I loved it. It gave me great visualizations from different aspects of other scifi stories and even insight to mythological legends. If you didn't know much about the topics, it was harder to appreciate because not as much was explained. One of the reasons why we all loved 1 and 3 was because they were about historical and religious topics that we were all familiar with. This had some abstract topics that could have used more explaination, but I still loved it. Also Cate Blanchett had a terrible russian accent.

i thought the movie was great with lots of action! i only wish they didn't wait sooo long.. yes it was a bit campy at times but did stick to the indy format if you're a true fan you'll appreciate it and it brings back alot of memories with a legendary character 2 thumbs up!

It is hard to see your hero and your favorite character get older but Harrison still kicks butt. It is not like (as great) the other 3 installments but still is enjoyable and is great fun. What would you expect after 20 years. A lot has changed for Indy. I think you need to know the real myth of the crystal skulls to understand that they just put their own spin on it and gave their answer to the burning questions of the real crystal skulls. It was nice to see old friends, new blood (shia) and the action and humor that Indiana brings. If you are an Indy fan you have to go see it.

Hands down, this is a great film. Lucas & Spielberg not only did a great job respecting the characters, but they also respected the audience. Taken into account is Indy's inevitable aging, which is handled as well as it could have been without getting depressing. The progression of time brings Indy face-to-face with a new enemy that echos modern times without getting too didactic. The action sequences are on par with previous films, and some scenes go far beyond what technology allowed in the 80's. The CGI elements are used tastefully (with the exception of a vine-swinging scene, but even that scene stills makes sense in a minor way). Nobody complained about the matte paintings and animated effects of the older films, so there shouldn't be a reason to complain about new technology being used today. My only complaint is that the film was too short and seemed too rushed. The pacing was decent, but seemed to cater more to an audience with a shorter attention span... it would been nice to see some of these new characters fleshed out a little more. Despite that flaw, I think this film is required viewing.

I really enjoyed this movie. This was what I was looking for, funny, not too many special effects and not leaving it open for a myriad of other sequels. The story line was good and fit the era well. If you are looking for an epic movie or something like that, this is not it. But I was glad I stayed up to go see the midnight showing!

I was disappointed. This movie is awful. I loved the first two, the third one's ok, but this was long, and BORING. I don't come to Indiana Jones movies for the talking, and this movie has lots of talking. Lots and lots. And every time indy and his boring crew manage to do something, the Russians show up and point guns at them. Cue more talking. Over and over. This movie is flat, stupid and awful. Go see Iron Man again instead and wait for Wall*E, which is incredible.

i was expecting an over the top spielberg film, and i got an idie film type plot with over the top directing. special effects were amazing, but the plot and the acting were too childish for me. i definitley should have waited to see it when it hit the cheapies or to rent it.

Let me start off my saying that I hold Raiders Of The Lost Ark as one of the greatest films of all time, and The Last Crusade is not too far behind. (I'll keep this spoiler free) As for the new "Indiana Jones" film, (and I'm not using quotes because it's a title), I believe that it is one of the worst movies I have ever seen in my life. They thought this was a gift for the fans? I've been waiting my entire life for a new Indy movie, and I would GLADLY have waited for the rest of it. The plot is abysmal, the dialog is a joke, the action is dull, the CG is rampant, the climax is a NIGHTMARE, certain characters are an utter waste, the little "nods" to the previous movies are ridiculously tacked on, the ending is more of a nightmare than the climax, and...well, the only thing is a trainwreck. I can count the good things on one hand. Namely, that Cate Blanchett's character is surprisingly good. So, in short, STAY AWAY. Go to Target, pick up a copy of Raiders and then never ever bother yourself with this new one again.

This movie was definitely different from the original series of Indiana Jones movies. And yet, it was still just as satisfying to watch. Although it focused on a much more sci-fi plot than just the hit-'em-up action movies from the past, it was interesting.
Shia LeBouf and Karen Allen were both great. It was nice to see Marian again.
The action scenes were great, though some were entirely unbelievable, I still enjoyed them along with the rest of the movie.
You can't really beat watching Harrison Ford play Indiana Jones!!

The truth is that when you have a lapse of nearly 20 years between sequels, and you have a franchise as big as Indiana Jones there will be hype. For a few years we have heard of the fourth Indiana Jones and the hype has grown to the point that nothing would be able to meet that Hype. But if you look at the film with fresh eyes and try not to think about the fact that this is the first Indiana Jones in the last 18 years and 363 days, you can appreciate the film. It is very entertaining, with action, adventure, suspense, and comedy. All around a good movie going experience if you don't get caught up in the hype and just sit back and enjoy the film.

Was not expecting ANYTHING like this... I went in thinking we're going to see Indiana Jones 4. No-you're going to see Steven Spielberg showing how he is the boss of Hollywood. Some of the CGI was pretty bad, but other than that... I was so entertained by it that I didn't care about anything else. Awesome, awesome movie. If only it wasn't Indiana Jones 4.

Don't believe the negative reviews of this movie. The movie was fantastic with a great plot, great action, and amazing special effects. It fits in perfect with all the other Indiana Jones films. I saw the sneak peak at midnight last night, and I absolutely loved the movie. Go see it!

With George Lucus writing script, ILM for special effects and Steven Spielberg directing. I did not expect this to be an epic movie or to equal to its 2 predacessors but at least better than #2 (was my least favorite one). Without going into detail, even though I am not religious but when Indiana Jones was searching for biblical artifacts and 3rd Reich as enemy it was interesting. This film only reminds everybody Harrison Ford is way to old to be an action star, I thought and hoped Shia LaBeouf would step up and take over and maybe make it as a 2nd generation of Indiana Series. But his character seems like it was just added into this movie as a favor to someone in Hollywood, the only important job he had was deliver the mail to Indiana. Come to think about it, you can take the whole character out it would not change the movie much.

The latest Indiana Jones was certainly entertaining, and almost a great story, but the movie turned out to not be what I was hoping. It certainly didn't have the "awae and wonder" of teh other Jones movies. There was too much nostagia, story "mood" wandered too much (too many writers?). Overall, if you don't go in expecting a lot, you won't be dissappointed.

People are taking the movie too seriously. It was made to entertain, and I was quite entertained by it. Great action sequences, classic one-liners, and the persona of Indiana Jones. Spielberg and the boys weren't looking to win any artistic awards for this one. This was, the perfect popcorn movie.

Lets be honest. Every movie series seems to suffer the further along it goes. The film takes a shot at continuity with throwback mention of other Jones adventures, retaining actor/actress Ford and Allen, and employing the inexhaustible troop of Iron Curtain villains. However, a throwback is at best what one could consider this movie. Dependence on CGI robs the classic Jones chase scene of its former bravado. Shia LaBeouf's character is altogether expendable in the story except to remind the die-hard fans that even Harrison Ford is mortal; this series, as well as the cinematic era it was created in, has eclipsed. Finally, a mediocre performance by Cate Blanchett combined with a nostalgic script makes the possibility of Jones' failure minuscule. The film's dialogue drags into repetition at certain points where Jones becomes a spokesperson to young America; stay in school kids. This is the first bust I can remember in Steven Spielberg's career. Nevertheless, it is evident he is working with a Lucas script. To the prospective movie-goer: If you haven't seen the rest of the series, save your eight bucks and rent in a few months. The silver screen ain't what it used to be.

As most of you have already read by now, this wasn't the same Indy type of movies we have all come to know and love. It started off as your typical Indy movie but slowly transgresses to a more sci-fi movie by the end. Now I don't want to give away anything here so I can't go as detailed as I would like but let's just say that its a different style of movie For me personally, I liked it. It definately had its Indiana Jones moments but at the same time it mixed it up a little with some new things. I think that they had to depart from the standard hollywood action hero script lines that governed the first three movies because if they didn't, they would have made the same movie as the third one but with a different name. It did for me get a little farfetched at the end but considering what they could have done, it was pretty good. Overall: I recommend this movie!

Saw it last night, and though it didn't top raiders or last crusade(my fav!) it passed temple of doom no doubt. No it wasn't my favorite indiana jones movie but I wasn't expecting it to be! I thought it was a great movie with awesome action scenes and a lot of funny dialogue. The beginning is a little off, and some of the story feels weird but other than that i would definitely recommend it. I am a huge indiana jones fan, along with my family, and it will definitely be one to own as soon as it comes out.

I have been waiting for this movie for a few years now. It would mark the first "Indiana" movie I saw in theaters, and after seeing it last night, I could not have been more disappointed. If you are expecting anything like the first 3 films, just throw that assumption out the door. I will try and not give away too much of the story, but just note that this movie from the very beginning strays from the classic action movie formula and takes the route of more of a sci-fi adventure. No German's in this movie for those who might not know yet, being that movie takes place in 1957 so Indy's new enemy are the Russian's. While the movie had lots of good action, it suffered from an over the top storyline of the likes of which Indiana Jones should have never have been in. This is more of a warning then a review not to be expecting much out this film. I expected too much was let down, but don't think it was because of Harrison Ford; He was fantastic. After about the first 35 minutes you completely forget about the man's age because honestly, it doesn't show that much.

Nothing great, nothing awful. It was pretty refreshing to see Henry starting to turn into his father, and the interaction between he and Henry III was just as funny. A classic line that references to another Ford/Lucas/Spielberg movie, where I was the only one in the theater laughing. I thought the action scenes were fair at best.
Still glad I went to the midnight showing. 4 theaters in Omaha, each about 2/3 full. The next several weeks, with school out, will be a madhouse.

Indy 4 is a lot of fun. Grab your popcorn and get ready to travel back into the world of Indiana Jones. This film is faster paced then the other 3 and has a lot of action. It is definatly an Indy film. All the elements are there. It also has a lot of good one liners and some refrences to a few other Indy films (watch and listen for easter eggs). In my opinion it ranks a very close 3rd in the Jones movies. Way better then Temple of Doom. I think it's almost as good as Cursade. It's right up there with that film. I don't think there will ever be another Raiders. I think Raiders is one of the best of all time. Anyway sit back and enjoy b/c this movie is a lot of fun.
