Liked the action scenes but I have to agree with other reviews that the movie was way too long. My daughter lost interest and was a bit confused as to the real identity of Racer X. The cartoon will always be my favorite regardless.

Speed Racer was a good (not great) movie. You must keep in mind that it's a "comic book" movie. Everything from the colors used to the corny lines are based on the old cartoon show. They tried to hold true to the original - which they did very well. However, if you are looking for a modern day Speed Racer, you will be disappointed,

This movie was a blast for me and my two sons. Kids will love this flick. I was exceptionally impressed with the amazingly vivid colors. Like a cartoon. Very artificial but perfect for this movie. The plot moved quickly and we had no trouble keeping up. For fans of the series I think this is great. We especially loved ChimChim.

This movie was horrible. It should have never been made into a movie anyhow, the cartoon was bad enough. But even a star-studded cast couldn't save this heap. Cool effects at times, but unfortunately most of the time looked more like a video game than a movie. Special effects quality needed to be higher. Action sequences were supposed to be the highlight of this film, but they were not all that breathtaking, and most of the time it was hard to even follow what was going on. All the cars looked the same and nothing really grabbed you or stood out. Script was bad and no characters were memorable. It was one of those movies where 1/2 an hour into it you are already waiting for it to be over. But it went on for 2 hours 15 minutes!! Thats about an hour and a half too long. Overall, this movie really sucked. The end.

My 7 and 5 year old wanted to go see this movie so badly and were so happy to go. Once the movie started it seemed to never end, it was so long and boring. Not for little kids, or adults, the acting was less than impressive.

The movie is enjoyable but corny. The dialog is the only really bad element to the movie and the scenes where the action stops to allow for 5 - 10 minutes of talking are the real low points in the movie. But the action and racing scenes are fun and well conceived. The younger viewers will probably enjoy this much more than the adult movie goer that is not already a fan of the original cartoon.

I just took 5 and 7 year old boys who were really excited to see the movie. Usually they come out of a movie saying how great it was but this time they just said - yeah, it was OK. That to me was not a good review from them. It bored me and the acting was terrible. But it's not about me. Again - my boys were not impressed.

I was pleasantly surprised... it was very surreal to me, but then I loved the cartoon as a kid.
Not bad at all, and it kept the kids in the audience occupied for 2 hours and 15 minutes...

I loved the movie except for the few things of violence and bad hand gesture. The 3 of us (2 adults and 1 child) enjoyed it. I liked the high tech racing, and there was also a story. Loved the comic relief with the youngest boy and chimp. Too cute! There should be a sequel. Way to bring a cartoon to life!

We had a lot of fun with this film. I took my 8 and 5 year old and it was a really fun time. My kids are really fickle, so the fact that a 2:15 hour movie kept their attention was quite a testament to the appeal. Yes, it is a video game with extra long cutscenes, but that's right up our alley as we're big into video games.
Some of the race scenes were just a thrill to watch. Can't wait for the sequel!

We took my 3 year old son to see SPEED RACER-He LOVED it. Never sits through a movie-UNTIL now. He thought the CHIM CHIM cookies were HILARIOUS! The loud sounds, bright colors, car stunts, and Chim Chim cookies kept him entertained! As a parent, We loved it too! The story is great, EDGE OF YOUR SEAT EXPERIENCE at times too. What a great time! I am so dissapointed in the movie reviews as I found the movie fantastic for anyone 45 and under. If you grew up with Speed and the Racer family, you found yourself reliving childhood memories. I took my kids (twice now) and they LOVED it ... It's bright, it's wild, sit up high and enjoy the ride! Other than one rude gesture, that wasn't necessary, the film was a "safe" place to take your kids without fear of bad words and inappropriate behavior.

I have loved Speed Racer since I was a child and I was so excited when I found out it would be a live action movie. The Wachowski's did not disappoint. They gave me another visually stunning movie that I can watch besides "The Matrix". The colors were great, the race scene's were intense, the plot has a universal message on all levels, the characters were true to the cartoon, and I had so much FUN!!

I am a huge fan of the series and thought the movie was the best possible version on the big screen. This is by far the most colorful movie I have even seen. Great effects, the racing scenes will leave you breathless. Definitely 5 stars!!!

Being a Speed Racer fan for over 40 years, this movie, like all other movies based on cartoons, comics and anime characters, is entertaining and a good use of modern technology and the finest in animation. This was an interesting use of both really actors and animation. A bit too calidescopic for a balance impaired viewer. The match of actors to the original cartoon characters was good, dialog well written and humor by Sprittle and Chim-Chim were entertaining. For those who grew up with Speed Racer, a must see for entertainment. Not recommended for the serious-humorless viewer. Watch the movie for entertainment and come out smiling.

I have two kids ages 5 and 11. Both liked it. I remembered the Cartoon from the 60's .My daughter the younger said she didn't want to see it but the movie won her over. This movie is a thrill ride for the Play station set that thrive on ongoing action. It's not a deep Matrix piece at all. It's good mindless entertainment and lots of it. 2+ hours worth. Kids 5-11 will enjoy it.

I really did enjoy this movie. I have always been a speed racer fan. This movie also went true to the series and explained more about racer x and went back to speed's younger years.. The special effects were awesome.. This movie is a must see.

Speed Racer is an audacious attempt to re-imagine the rather primitive import of the mid -60's, notorious for the fact that the dialog was not translated, but rewritten to fit the scenes. The plot is simple, just like the original. The characters are faithfully rendered, even down to Pop's close-mouth grimace. The racing scenes are quite frenetic, perhaps the one major concession to modernity. Now, clocking in at over 2 hours with a pace in some scenes more suitable for a 2 minute film, SR may be taxing for some viewers, but with the right understanding, this can be on amazing ride!

I took my 7 year old and a few friends to this movie for his birthday and was disappointed. It is being marketed as being the First Family Fun film of the summer, and is being marketed to young children in the stores. However, there is a lot of swearing, and a lot of violence for young children. I had to leave the theater with one of the kids crying because he couldn't take the violence anymore. Not any real gore, but a lot of fighting, gun fights, ninja's. The race scenes were a lot of fun to watch, and we enjoyed those, but the film itself was pretty dark and really not that much fun. Only the race scenes were fun. For adults, it is an ok movie, but for children under 10, questionable.
