2 things affected my ability to rate this movie objectively: the wait for it to come out caused me to be happy just to see anything and also I made the mistake of re-reading the book just before seeing the movie. So i kept noticing the differences. I need more distance to decide how this one rates.

I loved this movie! The interplay between the characters was so enjoyable to watch. This movie showed that Harry is just a 'normal' teenager involved in extraordinary circumstances! I would have liked some more time with the characters from the Order of the Phoenix. The actor who plays Draco, did an outstanding job showing his turmoil while trying to complete V's orders.
Can't wait to buy it so I can watch it again!!

Before seeing the film, I wasn't sure if my opinion would align more with the impressed critics or the angry fans. For me, the film did not disappoint. It was a more sophisticated adaptation than Yates' "The Order of the Phoenix", the actors continue to grow into their roles, Jim Broadbent was supremely cast as Professor Slughorn, and the end pulled at all the right heart strings. "The Half Blood Prince" is a great transition film. The liberties that Yates took with the adaptation were all in service to setting us up for the final two films. I only hope "The Deathly Hallow(s)" live up to this new predecessor!

This movie was "ok'" if you have not read the books. If you have read the books on the other hand you will be disappointed at the story changes and complete omissions of very key parts of the book. I understand that there is no way that the director could have stuck to the book completely, but leaving out the whole story of what the Order of the Phoenix was doing during the school year and the battle at Hogwarts was very disappointing. Hopefully the director can pull something together to fix it in the next two movies.

The movie was full of action and comedy. I loved how they made the movie start at with action, move towards hummor and then end with even more action. The inferi looked asnwesome, gruesome, and scary! It was perfect. I wished they would have shown more of it.

My daughter and I loved the movie and plan to see it again with her younger brother. The music was excellent and visually it was stunning. I enjoyed the relationship development between the main characters. It was excellent and I would recommend this film to anyone except the very young.

I was really looking forward to this feature, but it wasnt what i expected. It was geared more towards romance and who ends up with whom. The plot of the story never took off and at the end it left too many unanswered questions. If they could have taken out more of the romance and added more of the around the plot it would be good.

I have to say that this is my least favorite of all the movies. The magic that was felt through all the previous movies was not there in this one. Everything felt very "real." I have read the book and don't know how anyone that has not read the book would be able to understand the first part of the movie. It was less than a summary of the book. The movie however looked beautiful. The best looking yet. I just hope they are saving all the good stuff for the last two movies. I'm hoping that this one was just for exposition.

This book was exciting. Twists & turns & curiosity & fighting at the end between the good guys & the bad guys while Dumbledor was being murdered. They completely left that out. It drug on & on & just wasn't exciting the way the book was. Also, I don't think the movie spent enough time talking about the horocruxs. I mean it didn't even talk about what the others might me. How is that going to work in the next movie? I mean it's entirely about him finding the locket, the cup, the diadem, etc. Is he just going to wake up & know what he is supposed to look for? The movie itself wasn't bad. It just focused on the things that were least important more than the actual meat of the book. The movie was probably great if you haven't read the books.

This was a wonderful movie, albeit some cinematic license had to be taken to alter the story to fit in a reasonable time slot. The strangest addition was the scene at the Weasley house in the middle of the movie. It seemed like it was added just to add a little drama in the middle. Perhaps it will make more sense as the next two movies come out. However, the beauty of the movie is in the details of things that could have been left out. Weasley's Wizard Wheazes, Arnold the pygmy puff, Hermione and the canaries, Luna and the Lion's hat. And some of the acting was phenomenal. Tom Felton did a SUPERB job playing a stressed and determined Draco, and as always, Alan Rickman as Severus Snape.

While HP was beautiful to look at, there was a lot of the plot of the book that was sacrificed in this movie, so that by the end of it, I felt quite dissatisfied. The half-blood prince is barely important in this film, which is odd considering what the film is called. I didn't mind the relationship stuff, but thought that it was done at the expense of creating a coherent story line and interesting progression of action. I hadn't re-read the book before I saw this, and I was so confused at the end of the film until I realized many things had been left out, and other things had been added. Sigh.

I was hopping they would do a better job then the last movie. Overall i enjoyed the movie just because i'm a fan of the books. But that also led to the dissappointment. They cut out the big fight and throw in a little fight that was never there and served no purpose to be in the movie. They spent more time focusing on comedy and romance then the actual plot of the movie. they left out so many memories that are important to the next movie, i'm seriously worried about deathly hollows now.

As an avid Harry Potter fan (yes, I dressed up and went to the midnight showing), I thought this was the best of all the Harry Potter movies. However, that's not really saying much. It left out some key, critical things to the next book, but that's not exactly new. I give the movie four stars for a valiant attempt.

As far as the production, it was a typically good Potter movie. However, the story seemed a bit thin. The main story of the show seemed to be Harry and hermione trying to gain the affection of Ron and Jenny. Seemed more like filler material to me. Rowling et. al. trying to tie the story together. I think you could have put alot of the pieces into other stories and skipped the 2.5 hour 1/2 Blood Prince.

This is a very good movie but from what I have been told it left out a lot of the youth of Tom Riddle that was covered in the book. I did not read the book and I still really enjoyed the movie.
There were times the whole move theatre was so quite because they could not believe what was happening. A lot of great action and a great story in itself.

I was a bit disappointed. I felt too much of the book was missing or changed in favor of the many love interests of the main characters. It was entertaining and the effects were well done. I heard the next movie will be split into 2 parts, which could be good if the detail is there from the book, as long as part 2 is available at the same time as part 1. If too long a time is between them, it will hurt keeping current of the happenings. Just like this one, too much was forgotten from the last movie.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince seemed more realistic to the books compared to the previous movies. I also really enjoyed the fact that Harry and Ginny get closer together in this movie. Ginney, now, is one of my favorite characters in the movies. It was also very good that Hermoine experienced jealousy towards Ron and finds out that she reallys likes him in a way that is more then friends. I think in this movie, you see more of each charcters humor in this film compared to the previous ones. The really sad part in this movie was having to watch Dumbledor die. It moved me to tears because we have all watched him help Harry over the years and look out after him so watching him die was a big deal for the story.

Too much time spent on the relationships brewing amongst the students, which were sooo unbelievable, very juvenile. Kids this age would be all over each other or wait are they in the sixth grade going on 19????? I would love to have seen more time spent on the darker areas of the book. The Half Blood Prince and horcruxes should have been the focus here, not the silly childlike romances.

The movie followed the fairly unexciting book, but was necessary to set up the spectacular finish of the series to come. The development of the characters' love lives added a bit of zip to the story. I appreciate the "British-ness" of the story, but wish the characters would speak a bit clearer for us foreigners.
