Wow! I loved the aesthetics of this film! I enjoy the costuming, stage sets and acting. I give a 10 to all the professionals who came together to recreate these books. The Plot is secondary to cinematography! However, it did end strangely. I was waiting for an epilogue; but the audience was left disappointed at the end. Yet,I would go see it again. Enjoy!

I'd say the professional critics got it just about right...the best performances are by the adult actors. The kids are entertaining, a few scenes with them are quite well done; but, Dumbledore, Snape, and Slughorn carry the movie. If you haven't read the books, you won't be disappointed by the story. But if you're looking for great on-screne show that follows the book, you will leave the theater with a let down.

I am a huge fan of the book series, but not of the movies...until now. This movie finally captured the relationship between Dumbledore and Harry and all the humor in the books. I thought it was great storytelling, and the missing parts were, for the most part, well-compensated-for. It'll be interesting to see how the missing characters are compensated-for in the Deathly Hallows movies. I was a bit disappointed in the special effects with the scenery overlooking Hogwarts throughout the movie and especially in the end. It's 2009, we can do better!

As for an avid Harry Potter fan, I am very disappointed. They left out crucial parts of the book. I understand that some things need to be left out or the movie would be 5 days long, but leaving out the fight scene at the end??? Making Harry look like he wouldn't act to save Dumbledore??? In the time they had how did they make this? It seemed more like the parts that would get cut to insure the story is told were put togeather and the important parts were left on the cutting room floor. The feeling that okay the story is gonna start soon was 2.5 hours long. Several parts where a VO would have been a good idea since there were parts that you could not understand a word they were saying.

Too much was left out, and stuff that wasn't in the book was put in for no reason, that didn't move the story along, didn't give us any insight into characters and feeling. Actually emotion and feeling were left out in favor of special effects. Don't spend the money. Wait for it on Netflix and re-read the book, you'll get far more out of it.

Movie was good - loved the humour. But the ending? Most of the people in our theatre sat there waiting for something else to happen, before eventually deciding (since the credits were rolling) that it was obviously over.
It was interesting to see how the young characters behaved as teenagers, in comparison to their younger selves.

I liked this installment of the HP series. But this did feel like a bridge between the last movie and what we all hope will be an exciting climax. Despite missing some scenes from the book it felt a bit long to me.
But the characters showed that they have grownup and there are some bits of self-referential humor.

I have to say that as much as I enjoyed ALL the Harry Potter movies in the past, this one beats them all hands down! Despite veering from the book a little (which movie made from a book doesn't????), it was still a completely enjoyable experience. I really enjoyed the humor that was injected into the parts of the movie considering how somber the ending is. I would have been happy to sit there for another 2 hours if the movie had been that long! This movie just makes makes me want to see the next two even more. I will definitely go see it again next week.

As some with no knowledge of the book or the story the movie is good. But if you have read the book, then you will feel the movie is incomplete and doesn't have a continuity between scenes. Many good characters have smaller / no roles and that takes away the beauty of the story.

I was disappointed in the movie. I feel that it skipped over even more details than some of the others have that may prove difficult to make up for in the last installment. It also made a few things up that may be difficult to make up in the last movie. I don't feel that the movies are staying true with the story line in the books which makes me wonder if J.K. Rowling is still involved with writing the screenplay or if the director is trying to go for commercialism and what he feels would play best to an audience.

I never had a chance to read the book series. So I am judging purely off of the movies. With that being said, the movie was good. However, it could have been edited better. There were a lot of filler scenes to make the move longer. I watched as several people actually walked out. My boyfriend fell asleep more than twice and honestly with good reason.
I love Harry Potter period! So it doesn't really matter to me. BUT, they could have probably given this particular movie to HBO instead of releasing it in theatres.

We all know that the movies cannot be the books, so with that said I thought this was a pretty good adaptation of the book. In comparison with the last 3 movies the amount of stuff they left out is honestly pretty trivial in comparison. With that said I still don't really understand why they continuously add new scenes instead of using the perfect scenes in the book. We love the books that is why we love the movies. Stick to the books please! Really though on the whole I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. There were so many funny parts I was laughing quite a bit! There was also plenty of suspense that had me on the edge of my seat. The acting was superb, the trio being better than we have ever seen them!

Vital parts of the book were left out of the movie. And then they went ahead and made new stuff up. That doesn't make sense to me.
Key characters, such as Luna and Neville, are basically walk-on roles in this film. Ginny is there as a love interest, but she is diminished by their treatment.

I thought the moview was great! Some of the changes from the book weren't necessary and some things should have been left alone, but the general plot-line was the same. Truly a wonderful story and well presented. Technology has definitely surpassed itself especially at the Quidditch Match. It's so seamless -- you could swear they are actually flying for real.
I felt this movie had more heart -- much more about the relationships of the characters rather than relying on the technology to wow the audience.
It definitely leaves you hanging - same as when I read the book . I remember being absolutely dumb struck with the ending and what happens and then emotionally distraught that I would have to wait at least a year (I think it was actually longer) for book 7 to be released.
If you are a fan of the books and movies, this one is a definite plus in the series.

I thought this was the best Harry Potter movie so far. It had humor and it hit the main points from the book for the most part. It was entertaining and never had a dull moment. I took my 6 year old to the movie because my older kids had seen it and said it wasn't too scary. He watched the whole thing. There was only one part toward the end where I had him cover his eyes....so overall not as scary as some of the other Potter movies have been. I would watch it again!!

Overall good storytelling, but missing several key elements (and characters, for that matter). Action sequences were few and far between, and omitting the battle at end of the book is almost unforgivable. One can only hope that there will be an extended version dvd in the future that captures some of the potential of these missing elements.

Comparisons with the books and the other movies in this series will abound. If you disregard the other movies and the books, this movie still stands alone well, though some background is helpful.
There seems to be a good deal more humor in this film than in most thrillers. Alan Rickman's comic timing is extraordinary. Rupert Grint is almost cartoonish at times, and this touch of sophomoric humor adds a delightful touch.
The movie has a weak ending; it seems to just stop, or pause for the making of the next movie in the series.
Over all, the movie is entertaining and worth the wait. Its length - at over 2.5 hours - flies by.

The actors have come a long way since the first movie. It was funny, witty, and subtle. Unfortunately, HP6 continues it's very anticlimactic and quick to roll credits tradition. Big things happen, and you as an audience really don't care. Sad....I'm such a fan of the books.

The movie was a little dry for me. I went with my husband and nine year old son and I think I watched it more than they did. My son was restless in his chair not really concentrating and my husband just went to sleep. I wanted more magic fighting from Harry Potterl THe movie was average wait for it to come out on DVD

The movie left out a lot of detail. It was just another chick flick. I read all the books and saw all the movies and this is the first one I have been unhappy with.
