We've seen all the previous "Pirates" in theaters - Johnny Depp again was a fantastic Jack Sparrow - Angelica however just didn't have the same impact as Elizabeth Swan - she didn't convince us that she was the swashbuckling type, and chemistry was lacking between her and Jack.
That being said though, we still enjoyed the movie, and the bunch of boys we took (ages 10-14) loved it to bits.
We had not seen the cartoon series before watching the film. We thought the film was good - not brilliant, but fun and the 3D was good too! The kids we took (boys ages 11 and 9), loved it, and got more out of the 3D than we did (amusing us by clutching their knees up to their chests during some of the fight scenes with comments like "ouch - thats gotta hurt!"). I thought the ending a little sudden - but now I'd like to see the cartoon series..... so I enjoyed it.
Took our son and friends to see this as his birthday party. The kids loved it, & so did we (as did the other parents that came along). Beautiful scenery, lots of action, good humor (got a number of laughs out of us), and as for the ostrich race - well that was just great! I did find bits of it that seemed to drag a bit - but all in all we enjoyed it.
If you want some really deep thinking Oscar winning classic... its not that. However, we all liked it - it was lots of fun, and pretty good. Ou son (age 10)who has read all the books told us that it had deviated a lot from the book, but it didn't spoil the experience for him and us. We had some laughs, it had some action - some interesting takes on Greek mythology - and now we want to see the Parthenon in Tennessee (much closer than Greece!) - How great for a road trip!
Saw this movie with my husband, and 10 year old son and his friend. It was a little long, but brilliantly done - most especially the special effects - Pandora was really beautiful.
All of us enjoyed it immensely - lots of action (actually it never seemed to stop), and realistic characters.
Saw it with another friend, and our respective children (boy and girl both age 10). We all loved it. Sweet story (if a little unbelievable in places), with good humor. Loved the animal interactions. Jodie Foster's take on the agorophobic Alex Rover was brilliant (and horribly funny).
Well put together and definitely worth watching - glad we saw it.
A bit on the dark side, and not really a movie for little children (a bit too scarey in some places - don't think the average 6 year old would really enjoy it) - however, perfectly fine for ages 8 and up.
I enjoyed it, and if you enjoy the Harry Potter movies, you would probably enjoy this too (although I didn't think this was as good as the Potter films).
Movie was good - loved the humour. But the ending? Most of the people in our theatre sat there waiting for something else to happen, before eventually deciding (since the credits were rolling) that it was obviously over.
It was interesting to see how the young characters behaved as teenagers, in comparison to their younger selves.
We had a mixed bunch that saw it - from ages 8-70 - and we all enjoyed it. It was lots of fun, funny, and some good action scenes that the kids enjoyed. I thought it did take a while to get going though - but all in all, we would recommend it.
I did not see he 1st Night at the Museum, and I felt that I was still able to watch and enjoy this one.
Daniel Craig makes an excellent and very believeable Bond - the chemistry between him and Ms Dench is fantastic. I missed the gadgets, but still thought it a really good action movie - although I thought the camera moved about too much (almost like a bunch of kids was doing the filming) during the chases - it made them difficult to watch. All the same - we loved it, and if you like the 007 movies, you have got to see it!
