The added 10 minute scene was extremely pointless considering the only thing that happens gets rectified at the start of part 7. The entire mystery of the Half Blood Prince and the build up of the bathroom fight scene where Harry uses one of HBP's spells is completely worthless and ruined. Speaking of which, the kiss with Ginny was botched so they could change Ron's kiss with Lavender. Harry was supposed to kiss Ginny in front of everyone like Lavender kissed Ron. Ron was supposed to kiss Lavender because his sister told him off about never snogging a girl before when Hermione has snogged Krum in part 4. The removal of fight and funeral scenes left the film without a sense of closure. Read the book so you get the Unabridged version first.

There is such little story in this movie, it should have been a short film. It's been a problem with other HP movies, but this one takes it to an extreme. The acting is so forced, and what's with all the kissing and romance? It's a bit much.

First I have to say that I din't read the books, and I don't want to do it because I don't want to be disappointed in the transposition on screen.
I think that the movie is really good. The chemistry between the actors keeps better and better. The love stories are boring sometimes but I understand that it's a pretty important thing at that age.
The only complain is that every new movie in the series is darker and darker: this one is almost just in black and grey scale.
I hope that the last two won't be just black screen and voices!

I really expected so much more, but trying to put so much story into one film isn't possible. HBP should have been made in 2 parts like DH. There were so many parts left out, like the reason Voldemort chose the cave as a hiding place and the effort it took to reach it, Dumbledore visiting the Dursleys, Kreatcher, Fleur, the battle at the castle. Things were added that weren't in the book- the fire and falling in the lake. The hiding of the potions book is relevant for the last movie, but since that was changed in HBP, we can expect it to change in DH (as it must now). The movies for these last 2 books could have been spectacular if they were done right, but this one just seemed like a skeleton of the story, a major letdown.

I do have to say that I was rather disappointed with this movie. the whole time I was sitting there waiting for something to happen and it never really did. that is not to say that I didn't like it. I would say that I needed to go into it with a different frame of mind. I went into this movie thinking it was going to be an action packed thrill ride like the last two. however, unlike the last two, this movie is more of a setup for the the last two movies. all it really did was set up the relationships and plot for the ending. If you go into the movie with that frame of mind, you are going to love it. all in all, I would recommend it for anyone really, just don't expect a huge action packed, magicfest.

Overall, the movie was good. The special effects were incredible as usual and the actors have definitely come into their own. Of all the movies they have done, this one was the shortest, which was weird considering it was the 2nd longest book in the series. I felt like there was so much that was left out that was important to the story line, but I won't say what because I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't read the book yet. And the final fight scene could have been more dramatic than it was. I still say that you should see it for yourself!

Each movie should stand on its own and try to be entertaining. This movie was nothing more than a setup for the next chapter. It had a few spots when the action seemed to hint of more to come, but never did! Previews should last 5 minutes, not 2 1/2 hours!!!

Took the kids to see it. I really like the harry potter movies and this was no exception. the effects where outstanding and the story line was easy to follow if you read the books or not. the only thing I found wrong with the movie was it was too long. The middle of the movie gets long winded and kinda boring. I almost fell asleep cause there was no action or a good script to follow. Lucky that is only for about 10 to 15 min after that it picks up again. Over all it was still worth taking the kids too if they enjoy Harry potter. Not as scary as the previous movie according to my kids. This review was almost word for word from my kids except were I almost fell asleep. Enjoy the movie folks.

Overall I loved the movie and am definantly going to go see it again. The added side humor and awkward nature of the relationships developing was great. The only things I really had a problem with wasone why did Bellatrix attack the Weasley home? Two, where was the skirmish at Hogwarts in the end. The Death Eaters just were able to walk out. And the whole thing with the wands. Was there a rock concert going on. Dumbledore just died, he didn't start playing the final encore. And last, what happened to the funeral? Overall, thought it was great, but they could have easily added more without getting to the ridiculously long movie point.

I think the cinematography was superb, possibly the best so far in the series, it was shot very well. Other than that I thought the story was a little lack luster, anti climactic, cliffhangerless, kinda blah. Oh and PLEASSEEE bring back Elarica Gallagher, that girl is smokin hot!

As an avid fan of the books and movies, I was a bit dissapointed in what was not in the movie, however, it was visually satisfying in that the actors gave a great face to the characters in the book. They always make them so real. I think that's why I look forward to the movies so much. I was most dissapointed that Dumbeldor's funeral was not acted out. I would have loved to have seen that and hope that some reference to it is in the final two movies. I would recommend seeing the movie if for no other reason than to give a face to the story. I would highly recommend reading the book too, it is much richer than the movie story would suggest. Enjoy both!

I generally enjoy these films, but continue to find Harry Potter to be a wooden and ineffectual character whose greatest skill seems to be snooping. We continue to be reminded that Harry is "The Chosen One", but his merit seems little to do with his own abilities. Potter is both revered and coddled, not able to resolve his own conflicts. He "dumbly" brave, a non-hero.
The end of this movie has insufficient conflict resolution, lacking ANY coverage as to what happens to the antagonists. The movie builds toward a climax but then everything fizzles out. It is almost as if 15 minutes was lopped of the end. Anyone looking for an action-packed or clever-twist ending will be very disappointed.
Very confusing and frustrating. Lost two stars.

I have seen all the other Harry Potter's so I felt the need to see this one as well. I was disappointed that there weren't near the special effects, scary scenes, or as much excitement in this movie. I felt this dragged the movie on for its 2hrs 33min when there were plenty of scenes that could've been deleted and wouldn't have been missed. I was actually getting a bit bored throughout the movie compared to some of the others and the ending was quite disappointing as well. This is not was I had hoped it would be. Not worth the $50 I paid for my family and I to see it.

I thought the movie effectively condensed some of the book’s exposition. The café waitress (“tosser?!”) and the fire at the Burrow were new, but they worked. The city scenes at the beginning were a marvelous visual lead-in. Fenrir Greyback needed more explanation. I liked cave scene overall, but Dumbledore’s deteriorating condition after the potion lacked plausibility. Rickman’s Snape is more quietly brooding, but I expected a little more temper/urgency in Snape's parting shots. I thought the death scene was effective, though. Overall, the acting and special effects were more sophisticated. I loved McGonagall’s sharp retorts and how Gambon's Dumbledore softened enough a few times to smile. The story was generally true to Rowling's world.

It wasn't nearly what I expected. It's a great movie, until you compare it to the book. Than it's just horrid. They changed way too much and left out a lot of really important things. Like the ring? That's never mentioned besides when you see it, you never get the story behind it. I definately don't think it was worth the money I spent to see it in theaters, I should have just waited to buy it.

I believe this movie probably stuck as close to the book as it could (aside from one major scene change), closer than the other five for sure. They have continually left out details that I think are important in all of the movies and that has not changed. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how well they covered the major events from the book. If you have read the book it does a good job of bringing the book to life for you, if you are only a movie watcher you may find it lacking in detail. It was my favorite Harry Potter movie yet and I plan to see it again before it leaves theaters.

This isn't a stand-alone movie, but if you have read the HP books, then I think this was an outstanding effort, less choppy than the 4th and 5th ones. The actors have all matured and seem more comfortable in their roles, even as their characters themselves transform into uncomfortable adolescents. The comedic talents of Radcliffe, Watson, and Grint are impressive. Visually, a stunning movie.
In some ways, I feel like this movie is to the series what "Empire Strikes Back" was to the Star Wars trilogy. Didn't necessary wrap up anything, but necessary to set up the rest of the series, so to some viewers unsatisfactory in it leaving you hanging.
