I think that any of the little things that weren't my style about this movie (like others have said, there were a lot of teenage hormones running rampant this year at Hogwarts!), were all overshadowed by the great job they did putting this book onto the screen. This 6th one is an obvious cliffhanger, more so than any of the others, so if you weren't waiting to see the final movie before, you will be after you see this one!

This is not a feel good movie like the other ones. This is angst driven and delves into the preperation of things to come. It can bring you to tears with the loss of such a main character (don't wanna spoil it for non book readers, although I can't imagine). You won't leave this movie happy but you will be satisfied with money well spent. I have got to see it again. I can't believe they are going to make 2 movies out of the last book, they are going to milk it for all they can and I can't wait!

For the faithful - and I am one of them.
This movie is all that is good about the series: faithful to the books, lots of keen special effects magic, and just enough dark and creepy to keep my interest. However, like the book on which it is based, "Half-Blood Prince" is mainly a vehicle to set up the last of the series. Someone who has not seen the other films or read the books will be lost in this one as it starts exactly where the last one left of in the way "Lord of the rings did and ends with more of a cliffhanger than a real ending.

I am an avid Harry Potter fan and have read/watched each book/movie many times each. Having said that, I know all to well, that it's hard not to compare the two. This movie was, for me, without a doubt the best HP yet. I thought the humor in this one was spot on. I also think Dan is really comming into his own right now with Harrys character. I finally believed after this one that Harry gets the magnitude of who he is destined to be and what that means for everyone else. Ron as always for me sort of steals the show! I loved his love potion bit, very funny! Yes, I sort of agree that there were lots of opportunities for more action that were obviously omitted. But I loved what was there, and can't wait for #7!

As someone who has read the entire series, I found this movie, much like the last. Too much of the depth of the story has been forfeit for whatever reasons. Also, my friend who has not read the books was so confused afterwards, that I ended up having to explain a lot about what was going on by filling her in on bits of the back-story that were left out of this and the previous movies. The special effects are very good. The dialogue is ridiculous and weak. The younger actors have a tendancy to speak too quickly and not clearly enough. The older seasoned actors (Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman, etc) are absolutely wonderful, especially considering the material they they were given to work with.

This movie is disjointed and painfully slow. There were so many parts from the book that were left out, so many people missing. Creative license was used and abused. My children (12 &15 and real fans of the movie series until now!) were so upset that they wanted to leave mid way through. Sad..... I hope the director that is chosen for the last installment keeps to the book or there will be a lot of money lost and many people angry for the fantasy being decimated!!!

Having read the book I found the movie to be a huge let down. It left out major pieces of the story and made significant changes (e.g., Weasley burning down). The most significant offense was elimination of the final battle scene at Hogwarts...one of the most exciting parts completely omitted! The producers of this installment in the series appear to have decided to take this very exciting adventure/Fantasy story and turn it into a romance story. What a shame. I understand they can't possibly fit the entire book into a 1.5-2 hr movie. But at least with all the prior movies I felt they stayed true to the story and made acceptable calls regarding what to exclude. Not on this one. Hope they get back on track for the final book.

As a fan of the Harry Potter books and movies, I was looking forward to this movie for a long time. However I was disappointed with the movie which seems to be the weakest adaption in the Harry Potter series especially given how important this book is the the final resolution of the story. The movie did not help the audience clearly understand the motivation of the characters especially in the final pivotal scene. The movie would have been better to stick closer to the book for the final scenes as it sets the tone for the final book. If you watched all of the other movies, then you need to see this one but it was the most disappointing one so far.

I was SO disappointed with this movie! With any book that is made into a movie, you can expect that they'll leave some things out, but this was AWFUL. There were many essential things left out & random things put into the movie that weren't in the book. It appeared rushed, & it was out of order. To me it seemed that the director didn't even read the book, like someone told him bits about the book & he made the movie based off of that. Like many movies in a series, this one was good, but was more of a means to the final. All the Harry Potter movies have been great, each with plenty of action, plenty of plot movement, and great character development. However, this one seemed a little slow. I know it is hard to pack in a 500+ page book into 3 hours of movie, so I give the director credit, but it doesn't surprise me that this one lacked in the action department. The final movie is the one that makes all the difference, so what this one lacked in zeal you know the 7th will make up for. No worries, we just get to spend a little more growing time with Harry, Hermione, and Ron before they finally prove themselves real wizards.

The version of Half-Blood Prince I saw in the theater would have been fantastic if it had been complete. The parts of the story that were filmed were for the most part well done, but so much attention was paid to unnecessary parts of the story that several key points of the plot were completely left out. Being realistic about filming a 600+ page book, I didn't expect every detail in the movie, but how can the stage be set for the seventh movie when so much is missing from this one?

The movie itself was average, but I feel that it serves more as a transition movie, something used to set up the next couple of movies instead of trying to flesh out everything the book had to offer.
Overall, the movie was to fast paced in certain places, too slow in others, and leaves a lot to be desired by HP fans.

"Half-Blood Prince" was a stark contrast to the prior movies that had action added to soup things up a bit. This was slow-paced to the point that even *I* was getting bored with it (and I am a hard-core Potter fan). I think the need to connect with the hormonal youth that have migrated to the "Twilight" movies short-changed this movie's chance to really show some character development, especially in those characters who have gone the way of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. The entire plot line of discovering who is in fact the mysterious "Half-Blood Prince" is reduced to a very anticlimactic line in the film: "I...am the Half-Blood Prince."
Most disappointing of all the Potter films.

I thought this movie was really good, kind of slow, but good. But I never read the books either, and my friends I went with did and they said the movie was bad.

I loved the movie as usual. They did a wonderful job of telling the story that JK. Rowling did in the book. If you didn't read the book you would never now that there was parts that were missing but all the important parts were there. I gave it a four because there was not many scenes to show what happens behind the many story line. All in all it was a great movie

This is absolutely the "Empire Strikes Back" of the Harry Potter series. It's not a movie, as much as it is a bridge; a link between what has happended up to this point and where we know it will end -- an incomplete piece.
The viewer is left mostly satisfied, but craving to see how this will all end. If you haven't see any other Potter film, you really wouldn't know what is going on.
Potter fans -- go see it. New to the Potter Universe -- rent the other movies first (or read the books), then go.

You need to see it to be ready for the 7th movie(s), but it wasn't nearly as fun as the others. I did enjoy watching it, but I won't reach up and grab the DVD and pop it in on a rainy Sunday unless I forgot what happened in it.
