another well put together adaptation of JK Rowlings books. i know they can't put in everything but the one thing missing for me was a little more background into who the Half Blood Prince was what that meant. I can not wait for the final installment. If what I read is any indication of what is to come, I will gladly sit for 4 hours to see what David Yates can do!

This is my favorite Harry Potter movie so far. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that I think it would be hard to follow if you hadn't read the book. Loved the photograpy, the storyline and the lack of special effects...very refreshing after the last H.P. film! I do think it should have been PG13 because the story is too sophisticated for little ones - and the overall mood is quite dark and sad. The four twelve year olds that I took, loved it!

I fouind the movie to be VERY good, however... for people who had not read the book, it could have been confusing. Some of the scenes didn't make that much sense unless you had the background information from the book. I was also dissapointed in the focus on the realtionships between the teen cast. Yes, tyey were an integral part of the book, but more important was the quest for the Horcruxes, which we only found out about in the last third of the movie. I also wish that they had left in the funeral scene from the book. It was incredibly touching and symbolic, and truly set the stage for the final book. (or movies)

As this is the 5th movie in the Harry Potter series, I've come to expect that each director has their own idea of how to present this story. I held my breath through a lot of the scenes, sitting on the edge of my seat.
The dark scenes present a well-intended menace. You could smell the fear.
Daniel Radcliffe is expanding Harry without going over the top. Professor Slughorn was beautifully played by Jim Broadbent. But I have to say Frank Dillon, teenaged Tom Riddle was hugely impressive.
I plan on see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince at least a couple more times in the theater because there's so much going on, I honestly am afraid I missed something!

Very disappointng and slow moving. Too much time spent focusing on developing relationships. Important plot elements were present, but glossed over, to the extent that one does not understand the full impact of the item on the plot. I read the book and knew what was going on. I do not think that a person who has not read the book would gain any additional information on the series from this movie. Other Potter fans in the house were also disappointed in this movie.

I have to say that I've been watching these movies from the beginning and have always thought that POA was the best but now I have a new second fav with this movie. Overall I enjoyed the movie, but don't think it was worth the money to see it in the theater. I found it to be anticlimactic and not the best of the Harry Potter movies. The special effects were great. I would recommend seeing it, but wait till it's released to DVD. It was good not great!

People who have not read the books might leave disappointed. The 650+ page book makes it difficult to get the important scenes into the movie. The director spent too much time on the "love" potions" thread and too little time helping viewers understand the importance of horcruxes to the story. That would have added to the urgency of the conflict in the cave. They should have made it three hours, not 2 hrs 33 min. I know that's long for kids to sit through, but we all know these aren't directed at kids anymore (nor were the books, at this point). I hope some of the missing info from this film works its way into the next two to help fill in the blanks. I enjoyed the movie. I'm not sure everyone will come away with the same feelings I did.

The overall movie was decent. The main thing that made the movie good was the amount of laughter that was involved with it. Next off the movie seemed way to rushed overall. The whole start of the cave scene just seemed so quick, and it left me wanting to see more from it.Lastly so many of the main key points from the book was left out. I mean a few memories that Harry was suppose to see that really gave him more in depth look at Voldermort was suppose to help him find Horcruxes. Just felt wrong they left out the funeral because it does show Harry how little he knew of Dumbledore and is somewhat a key monument in the next movie. Maybe an extra hour would have made this the movie I wanted it to be so badly.

I am a huuuge Harry Potter fan and I loved this movie. It wasn't quite the same as the book, but that's understandable.The movie time is like 2 and a half hours but it only felt like one! I liked the other HP movies, but this one was a disappointment.
The special effects were good, but not good enough to mask the minimal plot/story development. The flow was choppy, the logic minimal, and it seems that if only if you read the book would it make any sense.
It seems that the main plot and storyline is character love interest development, with the 'half blood prince' and 'Harry Potter history' taking a significant backseat.
Now I don't know if I want to see the next one.

I saw it twice already! It was really well-done in my opinion, and very funny, and quite romantic. The kids did a great job with the humor. But it was certainly also very intense, with some scary scenes. Not recommended for small children, but recommended for everyone else! :)

I was kind of dreading sitting in the movie for 2 1/2 hours, however, this was well worth it and I did not even notice the time. This is definitely the best Harry Potter movie so far. Gorgeous cinematography barely makes up for a lack of special effects, with the exception of Dumbledore's firestorm. The music is also rather flat - appropriate, but lacking the majesty and scope of John William's original scores.
Acting takes a huge step forward. Radcliff, Watson, and Grint's maturity is evident and each breathes a new air of believability into their characters, unlike the rest of the teen cast. The adults always bring full-fledged characters to the screen, even when they don't say a word.
Characterization is nothing without plot, tho. This movie is the weakest, lacking a cohesive storyline of its own & inadequately serving as a bridge to the final episode.

The latest Harry Potter movie was good but not great. It left out many things from the book that would have explained things that were left in. Added scenes were only added for more (un-needed) drama. Some of the movie got a bit confusing at times. It was a good overall movie, but the other ones have been better. This movie had alot of humor in it as well as the usual special effects that were just as good as in previous installments. The book was covered very well as were the really important events like hunting down horcruxes. I do wish they had included more about the half-blood prince connection and story. The movie also explores relationships between the main characters in more detail - Harry and Ginny, Ron and Hermione etc. It does not feel like 2.5 hours but was enjoyable from start to finish.

The movie was generally good, and I loved how they developed the relationships between the main charachers. However, the film makers butchered the main plot point - Dumbledore preparing Harry to find the Horcruxes. In the movie, Dumbledore incorrectly tells Harry that the horcruxes could be anything, like portkeys. I would recommend reading the book before seeing the movie in order to understand the story line.

I waited a long time for this movie and was not disappointed. It was long but held my interest throughout the entire time. Excellent effects. It definitely is not a movie for young children, however. I enjoyed the young love portions but Jenny needs to learn how to act better. The rest of movie was fantastic. It'd been so long since I actually read the book, I didn't remember parts but by the end, I was brought back up to date. I am glad now that the last book was split into two separate movies as one would have been too long requiring parts to be cut. It's dark but happy, too. I am already looking forward to the last movie!

As far as Harry Potter movies go--this one was epic. The Order of the Pheonix, The Half-Blood Prince, & the Deathly Hallows are of course the most epic of the books & when it comes to these movies, the farther we get through the story, the better the movie gets. I will admit, alot from the book was left out-- like Tom Riddle's past (not just his beginning when he met Dumbledore). I would have liked to seen more of the Weasley twins' success with their magic shop as well but that's just a small detail. This movie was also more about puberty at Hogwarts in the beginning than the Dark Lord vs Harry Potter.
& is it just me or is Emma Watson becoming more of a fox everyday?!

Thought to many scenes from the book left out. Overall, I enjoyed the movie and can not wait for the last two. This one seemed to only be setting everything up for the last two. Hopefully, so much will not be taken out of them. Did love Rupert Grint in this one. Sorry, do not remember who played Lavender but excellent job.

After reading many posts regarding changes from the book, I thought that I was going to walk away disappointed. Instead I was very pleased with how the movie played out. Most of the pertinent story was covered and I can understand the need to trim it down. The only thing I think would have been better is if they had shown more of the pensieve flashbacks. It's going to be hard to make the jump to what the horcruxes are without the back story of Voldemorts thievery of Hogwarts founders items. Perhaps we'll see them as flashbacks in the first part of the next film.

The movie was extremely well-made and quite entertaining, but so much essential detail and story development was left out that if you haven't read the book and know exactly what to expect, the end leaves you hanging- and not in a good way. You'll be left wondering, "What the...?" and feeling overall very unsatisfied with the film.

I have read all the books and seen all the movies so far. I think this book had the potential to be the best movie, since it has this huge dramatic suspense built up of who is the half-blood prince and who is Draco assigned to do away with, not to mention the love interests. However, it fell flat; maybe because there were just too many sub-plots going to make an effective film. One thing I enjoyed immensely, though, was seeing all the places we are going to be able to go when Universal Studios finally opens their Harry Potter world theme park -- I can barely wait!!!
