In this day and age, it is tough to come across some amazing sequels. Sometimes they only live up to your expectations, but never actually exceed them. Before actually seeing "The Dark Knight," I had a few peers clue me in on what they thought so I would know if I should actually go see it. All I heard were positive comments. So I ended up going. I must say this movie went far beyond my expectations. Don't get me wrong, I didn't have low expectations; in fact, they were quite high. Overall this movie was just solid. I couldn't find anything in the movie that I didn't like or something I thought could be better. I highly recommend everyone to see this movie when they get the chance. Even if you're not a fan of the Batman series, or even superheroes in general, this movie is recommended.

I really liked this movie. I'm not a huge batman fan, but this was really good. Heath Ledger did an excellent job of portraying a complete psycho with his Joker character. This movie held my attention the entire time. I also like Batman begins which was directed by Christopher Nolan as well. But this one was even better than Begins, in my opinion. Very dark movie, and not a kids movie. I've been told Nolan portrayed his characters like the original Batman comics, where the villans were more like real people who had gone insane, rather than super villans with super natural abilities. Not a movie for kids younger than 12 or so, because of the situations in the movie.

Terriff movie- depressing end. But then that's what Batman has always been like when played accurately. He always has been one of the grimmest, darkest heroes around. This time he has a worthy opponant in the demented Joker. As played by the late Heath Ledger, this villian isn't and never was a pretty boy or a sane one. He tells multiple stories about his horrific scars (someone deliberately cut him, he deliberately cut himself) but it doesn't matter which one is true. He's delighted with the end result anyway. He's the freewheeling id who has no wish to be sanitized and controlled into behaving. He doesn't care what effect he has, so long as he has an effect. That's the scariest villian of them all.

This follow up to Batman Begins is the best sequel I have seen in years. The performances are excellent and Heath Ledger's performance is phenomenal!!! It is ashame we will not get to see him in the next film. Overall, the movie is well paced and thank god they replaced Katie Cruise-Holmes. I look forward to the return of the Dark Knight! I also recommend you watch it twice to absorb everything that is happening.

Loved it, had some slow parts but was made up with some extremely intense action. Heath did a great job as the joker (RIP) this one will definitely be in the DVD collection

Absolutely the best action movie of all time. So many times movies fail to meet the hype generated before their opening (Spiderman 3). This movie smashed through every expectation I had. Everyone did a fantastic job in this movie. Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman don't get the accolades they deserve, they were both brilliant. Eckhart plays a great Harvey Dent and Maggie G acts circles around Katie Holmes. Christian Bale is kind of a conundrum, while I think he plays the best Bruce Wayne of all the actors before him, his "Batman voice" annoys me at times. Sounds like he has a lisp when he says certain things. But Heath Ledger steals the show. His portrayal of the Joker isn't cartoony or corny, it completely terrifying. A demented, psychopathic Joker is what the franchise needed and it got it in spades. Its such a shame he is gone. His performance demands the oscar, its just that good.

It was awesome, best movie I've seen to date. Except for the fact that the movie reel got messed up at the Culver City Theatre but they gave us free tickets to make up for it. Otherwise, movie was great. I want to watch it again! Definitely going to own it!!

This movie was great and very well written, but very dark and VERY violent. It is NOT for kids of any age! Heath Ledger is fantastic, as was Morgan Freeman. it's also very long, so be prepared!

Every character played their part near-perfection and interacted great. I am still confused on revisiting the Joker, as I am no comic book fan and any reason that may lie in there would be lost to most.

This movie was way better then i had expected it to be. Heath Ledger was just amazing in this movie, he is always going to be the best joker, no one can top what he did. I have seen the movie 5 times , twice in the IMAX and it never gets boring just because of the great plot and the talented league of cast members.

"Great" Obviously this movie is "Script driven"and does not rely on special FX to make it what it is. And it is by far the best super hero movie ever made(and that's saying alot) Heath Ledger's "Joker" should gain the best supporting actor Academy award easily. All the other Batman movies can't hold a candle to this one. It is definetly a must see.

I took people of 3 generations with me, and we all LOVED IT! It is very much an action movie, but those of older generations who grew up with the Batman comics will enjoy the storyline, as well, since it stays pretty true. Also, Heath Ledger is UNBELIEVABLE! If he doesn't nab a posthumous Oscar, it will be a shame! And Maggie Gyllenhall (sp?) is much more believable. Just wish Heath Ledger would be around for the next version.

I would give this movie four stars, and a B rating only because aside from Heath Ledger's performance as the joker, the movie is just okay. He was by far my favorite part of the film. However, with him as the joker, you hardly remember Batman even exists. He's just a guy with a lot of gadgets. Of course this is only my personal opinion.

Of course I can't start a review without making ANOTHER cliche comment about the hype and how irritating it was. But I can say, very frankly, that this movie truly delivered. The film ran a lengthy 2.5 hours - I didn't even notice. The performances were all top-notch: Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart, Michael Caine, Christian Bale, and Heath Ledger were all stupendous. Once again to make another cliche comment, I found Ledger's performance both gripping and moving. Now THAT is great acting: putting all that you are into a role, even if it takes a piece of you away when you're done. As a kid, I loved the satirical metaphor of Two-Face's presence as a villain and seeing him in this movie EPITOMISED by Aaron Eckhart was more than fulfilling. They couldn't have cast a better actor - such a beautiful man on one hand, and a true monster, physically and psychologically on the other hand. I loved the graphics and the play with light that Nolan carries out with the crispness of a director that is neither unsure or intimidated by the task. I think the world's rather animalistic urge to see this movie was what fueled its creation, and not the other way around. We've all been waiting for a great superhero movie, with a clear message and morals as well as all the desired action. Dark Knight delivers. And then some.

This was a very good movie. I am a very tough critic on movies, so just like almost every movie I could find some flaws. It goes like this, the movie was too damn long. It was like overstuffing yourself at the dinner table and not having room for dessert. It was too much Batman for one movie...had they cut off the movie within a couple minutes over the 2 hour mark it would have been perfect. It would have left us just enough to keep our appetites wet, even possibly use some of those clips from the last 30 minutes as an advanced pre-trailer to really suck in the consumer and ready them for the 3rd movie!!
Maggie G., played Rachel, not a very good job acting, could've been portrayed much better, by someone else.
R.I.P. Heath Ledger, if he doesn't win an award for this role, no one should. Not just because he has passed away, but in my mind this role must have had something to do with his downward spiraling depression, i'm sorry Papa Jack {Nicholson} but he was the best JOKER ever.
All other roles were done very well.

This was probably the best movie of the summer. Heath Ledger set the bar very high as far as super villains go. He was diabolical and maniacal all at once. Christian Bale as the Batman was just as compelling as ever. The action was exciting; the plot was intriguing and kept you on the edge of your seat unable to wait and see exactly what the Joker had up his sleeve next. This movie is a definate must see!
