The actual movie was pretty good, but towards the end the use of God's name paired with d--- was the point the movie suddenly took on a true dark side. Had that particular word been left out I could and would recommend this movie to anyone, however, I cannot in good conscience tell anyone to go see a movie, no matter how well made, that choses to use my Lords name in such a disrespectful way at a time in the movie where he should have been asking the Lord for help, not cursing His name.

Wow!!!!! I must say I am not a batman fan, have not liked any of the batman movies thus far but...................this movie was absolutely fantastic!!!!!!! Not only would I see it again but I will definitely purchase the dvd. This is a must see movie, thanks Heath for a very spectacular performance.

The Dark Knight exceeds all expectations and blows everybody away. The quality of acting and the storyline were amazing. Heath Ledger played one of the greatest villains in the history of movies! Sardonic and Beautiful. This installment of the new batman series blends amazing images with the darkest reflections of the human spirit. There is no cute riddles or fancy puns by Heath Ledger's Joker, only raw anger and psychosis which draws the audience to this charasmatic persona. Christian Bale performs beautifully as batman however this movie is not about batman but about Gotham city and the struggle of Good vs Evil, with the addition of Eckhart as Harvey "Two Face" Dent the audience gets a true representaion of life in Gotham City, The city itself is its own character, the set design was immaginative and fanciful without being camp. The backdrop for a fight between bad and worse for vigilantes cause more trouble than good... Replacing Heath for the next installment will be a tall task for any director, with out the joker what would batman be????

This was a very good movie. I wouldn't go as far as some saying it's the best ever but will say that it was worth seeing. It got a bit long toward the end plus was a very dark movie. Heath Ledger did a wonderful job. I wouldn't even think of taking a kid under 15 to this movie. It is disgusting in ways that you don't see but know what is happening. The Joker is very scary. It is just overall dark. There were parts that could have taken out to shorten it a bit. There were also a few things that were a bit of a stretch beyond the normal Batman stretches. I really liked the twists of the story and the fight scenes. Even as a woman, I really enjoyed the moive. It wasn't as good as the first one but comes very close.

I've been a fan of his since the beginning of his career and was so sad that we weren't going to witness him becoming the experienced craftsman he was clearly meant to be. This film showed another step on his way there. His performance as the Joker blew me away. Really. I had heard all the hype but was waiting to see for myself. And I saw and am telling you not to miss it.
There's so much to be said on top of that. Heath's performance was only one of the fabulous things about this movie. All of the performances were incredible. The gadgets and gizmos were really great. There was a wonderful mixture of humor and terror and vulnerability.
The last thing I want to say is that I love how this and the last Batman movie make me think of some of the better samurai films. Figuring out where the line is that you won't cross; what is right and wrong; how not to lose your humanity when you do inhumane things to others; how to live with grief; and so much else. The Dark Knight wants you to think about the challenges that come when an individual makes choices for others and then must shoulder that responsibility. That is much more than simply a action film.

I thought this film had an excellent story line, one which captivated the audience. Oldman, Freeman, Caine and Eckhart where perfect in their roles, whereas Gyllenhall and Bale left something to be desired. Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker made the movie experience for me. He was flawless. His role alone was worth the price of admission, two times over.

This was definitely the best batman flick since Batman Returns, which in my opinion is the best superhero movie ever made, hence, my preferring it than this new one. This one just didn't capture how Gotham is always portrayed, gloomy and with all that gothic architecture. However, this was veeeeery good. Batman was a bit shaky. I actually thought it was a bit funny when he spoke with the mask on. Joker on the other hand, was 10 times better than Jack Nicholson. Two face was good as well. Overall, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good film. You don't even notice 2 1/2 hours have gone by.

It really could have easily had about 45 minutes edited out and it would have been an overall much better movie. But Heath Ledger's performance makes it worth the viewing, he was not on screen enough!!! Some amazing effects, toward the end, and great action near the end too. A moment with a letter meant to be touching was just, not. Bale's voice as Batman was a litle annoying, other than that he did a good job.

Never been a Batman fan, but this was such an amazing performance by the whole cast, an excellent story/script with a real to life drama, as real as a fantacy story can get, I think. The 2.5 hours blew bye. Very impressed

The Dark Knight is definitely a good choice to see at the theatre. All the madness might be over hyped (there wasn't enough character development in the script for the Joker to be as legendary as many would like) but it was still an overall good performance by Heath. I think many aren't being critical at all, though, because of his death and must keep in mind that many of the things Heath said in the movie were his lines and not of his own genius. Christian Bale's batman voice was sometimes so dramatic I missed what he was saying. Christopher Nolan needs to slow down technical scenes because (just like in his last batman's fight scenes) sometimes the audience has no idea what just happened. I suggest watching the other batman movies before seeing this one so that you will be able to review it fairly. Jack and Heath's Jokers are so different that you can't say whose is better, Jack is good at playing his version and Heath is good at playing his. Michael Caine is always perfect at Alfred, it's like he doesn't even have to act. Gary Oldman was a nice new addition and the bad side of his face (when he becomes two face) is almost dead on the comics. Maggie as Rachel is kind of disappointing. Maggie seemed tired and a lot older than she did in Stranger than Fiction. I'd reccommend this to Batman fans because this movie caught the idea of Batman: Everything is not cheery like they are with Superman, things are realistic and dark.
Superman stuff is all chalk and cheese anyways, go see Batman!

This movie is Perfect! I loved every minute of it! The detail used to relay this story was so mind-blowing and exceptional that I never once looked at the characters as the "actors" who played them. Heath Ledger's role as "The Joker" was so extraordinary, by far his best role ever.

Christopher Nolan has again succeeded in capturing the true essence of Batman from the comics. The original series were decent, but not nearly dark enough to accurately caputre the personal turmoil that the comics created for the Dark Knight. Once again, Christian Bale plays the role of the reluctant hero very well, but Heath Ledger steals the show. Ledger's eerie Joker is excellent and in ways outdoes his outstanding work from Brokeback Mountain. The plot works well and Nolan sets the stage again for more Batman movies to come. It is just sad to know that we'll never get to see Ledger's Joker again.

i didn't care for the dark knight.
just being honest.
heath was good -- very good.
but the voice of batman annoyed me.
the movie was long.
and it was always so dark -- i hate when movies use darkness in the film to the point that you can't make out the action.
kinda like aliens vs. predator.
batman's movement and fighting style was ultimately boring.
nowhere near as good as wolverine looks.
not a bad movie -- but imho it is being highly overrated.

The movie is very well done and references alot of philosphical content. This si a very dark movie without being graphic and is not for kids. and if you take them to see it make sure you explain the movie and the cocepts of goodness to them later. Anyway the visual were very well done, great character development, awesome acting on every ones part and the movie direction is superb. Honestly it was a great movie and even though it did drag on a bit and the last half seemed to be "crammed" into 45 mins, it was still a very good movie.

I grew up when the Joker could only be Jack Nicholson, but I am proven wrong. Heath Ledger delivers such an outstanding performance that it was hard to "see" Heath though the Joker. Harvey Dent was also well done, and the transformation to 2-face was astounding. Christian Bale delivered another solid performance, although the batman voice could use some work. It sounded forced and unintimidating. Although I am a big Christian Bale fan, I think that Micheal Keaton was still the best Batman. Overall this is one movie that I'm going to add to my personal collection.

Absolutely phenomenal! I have seen this movie three times in the past week, and I never do that. Heath ledgers performance is unquestionably one of the greatest ever recorded. He blows away Jack Nicholson. This is a complete about face from the previous Batman movies that were more childish. This is the first in the franchise that truely is for adults. The worst thing about this movie, and in my opinion the only bad thing, was Christian Bales' performance. That silly deep voice he used while in costume was comical. Heath Ledger did so well in this movie, one can't help but to regret his passing even more, now knowing exactly how great of an actor he truely was. Whenever the joker isn't on screen I found myself waiting in anticipation for his return. The movie would have fallen apart without him.
