The beauty of this movie is the same beauty in Heath's face. Much like his laugh, smile, and dialog, this movie has a dark underlying air that really cannot be described. In other words go see it before you die or a small child eats your soul. The beautiful Bale had another memorable performance but Ledger stole the show...and Eckhart had a great performance. Basically if you don't see this movie, you might be the dumbest person on the planet...this side of the Mississippi River.

Keith Ledger stole the show. He will be my odds on favorite for academy award...posthumonus.
Story line was a little weak, but character development for Joker shows movies can be more than visual imagery, chase scenes and shot em up...though this movie had all that as well to increase tension.
Not really for little kids, though the twelve year olds I brought along will have gained street rep with their peer group.
Could use a sexier fem fatale.

This movie is about as close to perfect as you can get. All the performances were excellent. A special kudo to the late Heath Ledger for his turn as the Joker. He captured what the Joker always should have been, an evil psychopath with no agende other than causing chaos. All in all this is the pne movie to see this summer.

Christopher Nolan brilliantly transcends the superhero genre to bring us an operatic, crackling crime drama with larger-than-life characters and harrowing insight into the depths of the human soul.
The lead performances are solid all the way through; even though Bale's Batman/Bruce Wayne takes something of a back seat to Ledger's Joker and Eckhardt's Harvey Dent, the movie never puts Batman in the colorless traffic-cop role that he was relegated to in movies like Batman Returns and Batman Forever, instead making the character a dramatic catalyst.
The entire film has an epic feel, with a brilliantly-realized Gotham City (actually Chicago) that doesn't exist on a soundstage and a screenplay that is absolutely crammed with incident and plot. Like a great roller coaster, there's actually times when a viewer might guess that the film is nearing its end, and suddenly another plot point surfaces that takes us on another twenty-minute spin. The other superhero films released this year were just appetizers; this is the main course.

This movie deserves Oscar nominations for direction, best movie, supporting actor, music, and special effects This is definitely one of the top 5 movies of the year. I don't recommend anyone younger than 13 to see this movie. This is not a kiddie Batman movie.

I'm not a huge fan of the Batman series, but my boyfriend is, so he and I went to see the movie last night. I was interested to see what it was all about , considering all the hype with Heath Ledger and everything. It did not disappoint. The Joker was seriously creepy and believably insane while Batman and his crew were always the undeniable heroes. The movie is long, but didn't feel stretched out.
Though a bit depressing and scary, this was a great movie to leave as Ledger's legacy. RIP Heath, you did great!

This is a fantastic movie. But first and foremost, do not buy a drink before this movie. It is 2 and a half hours long and you will be glued to your seat the entire time. As many have said, the late Heath Ledger put on a fantastic and very authentic role of the Joker. Cristian Bale once again put on a solid Batman performace. The action is intense as all in Gotham is turned uside down into mass hysteria and chaos created by the Joker and his goons. Is it all believable, ahhh not really , but hey it's a Batman movie. Just sit back and enjoy it.

I think that this movie was great! It had everything in it - drama, comedy, action, etc. Christian Bale was good, as always. I was impressed by Heath Ledger's performance. He stayed in character the entire time. Definitely his best performance. Aaron Eckhardt's performance was really good. The only part that I disliked was Maggie Gyllenhall. I just think that a different person should've been cast for that character. Overall though, very good movie.

The movie itself was good. The action was exciting and many parts of it had me on the edge of my seat. The filming itself was beautiful, the music was good, and the ensemble was great. But Heath Ledger is what made this film. He stole every scene he was in, he was frightening and interesting, and when he wasn't on screen most people were impatiently waiting for him to come back. You forgot it was Heath Ledger you were watching after the first three minutes. He obviously delve deep to get this character, because it overtakes everyone and everything in the film to make the most chilling, interesting, and amazing villain of any Superhero movie.

This movie did not let me down. As a sequel to a phenomenal first film, there is always a bit of apprehension that it won't be as good as the first. Well in my opinion it was every bit as good.
The Joker was finally written and portrayed the way I have always believed the character should have been. Kudos to the writers, directors, and Heath Ledger for finally making a film that does the Joker justice. Heath Ledger sold me completely on the character and it is a shame that he won't ever be able to portray this character again.
I was 100% satisfied with almost everything in this film, except for two things:
One, the character of Harvey Dent is built up throughout the movie, and the Two Face character seems to lack much of the true bad guy depth at the end.
Two, at times the movie seems to drag on and and seemed to me to be slow in parts.
However the end of the movie makes this all worth it.
In my opinion any fan of the Killing Joke or the dark side of the Batman genre, will truly enjoy this film.

An excellent movie. Ledger is brilliant as the joker. And Christian Bale shows a depth to Wayne/Batman that draws you in. My only complaint is that when he is speaking as Batman, his voice is often so low and gravely that it is difficult to catch what he is saying.
Very dark, very disturbing, but highly entertaining. It will leave you wanting more.
Please Christopher Nolan, make a third!

I don't know what else to say! Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart, and Heath Ledger were amazing. Gary Oldman shines through again. It was delightfully disturbing and one of the few movies I would pay full price to see again.

The movie was, well, amazing! the storyline was really well thought-out and they followed through all the way to the resolution...no feeling like the end was rushed.
Heath Ledger (God rest him) was FANTASTIC! His take on the Joker was so incredible - funny, eerie, disturbing, and like-able all at once. It was one of those performances that leaves you wanting more. I can definitely see this role as an Academy Award contender. Yes, it was really that good, and if it doesn't get a serious nomination i would be shocked and pretty ticked.
The entire case was perfect, and i still think Christian Bale is the best Batman (or at least every bit as good as Keaton).
I didn't see this on Imax (they sold out pretty quick), but it was still awesome. One of the best movies i've ever seen.

Absolutely amazing! Heath Ledger pulled off his role as the joke with fine style. Regardless of what others may think, Jack Nicholson doesn't have anything on him. Overall, this movie was just great. No predictable plot twists, nothing too drawn out. It kept me on the edge of my seat, just waiting for more.

There is absolutely no need to even put anyone else up for the Oscar against Heath Ledger. His performance was perfect, maybe too perfect in his role as the Joker. I can see now how getting into that character could have been a factor in his demise. Sad and tragic as it is, I only hope he does get the Oscar. As to the movie, A+. What an incredible cast !! All the IMAX showings were sold out so I had to setlle for a regular theater. I can hardly wait to see it on IMAX. Drop everything you're doing and go see this movie.

"The Dark Knight" delivers on its promise -- to present a dark, demented vision of someone doing good as much out of anger as conscience, versus someone doing evil for the sheer joy of it. Christian Bale is nearly pitch-perfect again as the Caped Crusader, although his raspy-voiced delivery when he's not Bruce Wayne grows tiresome. Micheal Caine is a delight as Alfred, and Maggie Gyllenhall makes a smarter, sexier Rachel Dawes than Katie Holmes did in "Batman Begins." But the performance everyone will be talking about is, of course, Heath Ledger's chilling turn as the Joker. Greasy and maniacal instead of dapper and clownish (like his predecessors in the role), he presents a vision of gleeful, sadistic madness that conjures up the Shakespearean: "He was a loathsome brute, yet I could not look away." At 2 hours 32 minutes, the movie is almost too long -- yet Aaron Eckhart's conversion (perversion?) from white-knight DA Harvey Dent into the the bitter, ruined Two-Face is insufficiently developed. Overall, however, the movie is visually dazzling, and many of the action sequences will leave you breathless. A must for all Batman fans.
