Fortunately it's named the Dark Knight and youi can expect it to be a dark tale. However, the Joker shouldn't be the dark one. He's a JOKER! He should have made more jokes and pranks to live up to his namesake. Also one time putting the camera on a tripod and going left to right rapidly is enough to express chaos. It is more than enough the next times.

Heath Ledger went out with a "BANG". I don't think any other actor has played such an insane, psychotic, deranged "Joker"! This movie kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. A must see!

Heath Ledger did an outstanding job playing the joker. This was so different from any other character that I know of that he has portrayed.
I also think that Christian Bale does a great job of playing Batman.

Huge fan of The original and overall fan of the Comic for years. With A Deep story and great actors its hard not to apprietiate this film, even if your not a fan of superhero films. You will defintily talk about the movies subject matter of right and wrong, truth and justice, its not everyday that an action movie make you look at society morals with out lecturing you about it,...Bravo!

Very Satisfied. Plot lines and personalities were brought forward from the first installment flawlessly, and the overall effects didn't dissapoint (of course). I was ready to think the reviews were over-hyped, but I have to agree that Ledger did a phenomonal job. The casting is perfect, and the enhancement effects on Two-Face were horrifyingly perfect. Call me crazy, but I loved Maggie for that roll much more than "tomkat".

This movie was phenomenal. When I first heard Ledger got the role of the Joker, I was like you have to be joking?!? He's way to pretty to pull it off. He was amazing. By far one of the best performances I have ever seen in a film. Christian Bale was excellent as Batman/Bruce Wayne, and Maggie Gyllenhal certainly stepped up her game to make up for Katie Holmes lack-luster performance-even though I love Holmes, she was not at her best. Not a dull moment in this movie, from start to finish it held my attention, which is quite a task for two and a half hours. Definately some Oscar worthy performances in this one!

One of the few summer movies that is worth the price of admission to see in theaters. Very entertaining from beginning to end. Not for young children, this is a grown ups batman movie. The joker is a creepy character.

I was blown away by this Batman movie! Christian Bale is the best Batman I have ever seen. Heath Ledger played The Joker with such passion, he made you believe. Overall the story while dark was riveting, it was action packed and very symbolic. I will definitely see it again. I agree with the other posters on this board though, it's not a movie to take small children to.

Truly, this is one of the best. I'm still a die-hard Michael Keaton Batman fan, but this ranks right up there alongside the original! My only problem wasn't with the movie - it was with the parents of the VERY young children who brought them to the theater. This is honestly a movie for adults and older teens - definitely not a flick for the wee ones! Save the ticket money and pay a babysitter, but Mom and Dad should definitely make a Date Night with the Dark Knight!

This movie was intense. Not only was it action-packed but it was packed with emotion. My jaw hung open almost the entire movie. The depths of the characters and the constant battle between right vs wrong and good vs. evil kept you on the edge of your seat. The 2 1/2 hours flew by and when it was over I wanted more.

The Dark Knight is a movie full of special effects, full of explosions and action and that's what people now days like, that's what when a movie comes to the big screen everyone is hoping to see. The movie keeps you tense through out the whole two hours and a half because you can't imagine what's gonna happen next. The music was also awesome, another masterpiece of Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard. I really recommend to everyone that likes action, comedy and suspense to go and see the movie because The Dark Knight have a bit of everything.

This was allll I was expectingl. The characters were compelling and the moral dilemmas were crazy. I would not recommend it for any kids (there were a couple of young kids sitting in front of me in the theatre and they were having to cover their eyes a lot) but it was an amazing movie that I'll be seeing again.

this movie was completely unbelievable. it was amazing. usually i dont like long movies cuz i get ansy but even at 2.5 hours, when the end came i just wanted more. very dark, parents should be warned. however NO sex, NO bad language, and NO actual blood. the best movie i've ever seen

First off, WOW. This is by far the best super hero movie that has been produced to date. Once again, Christian Bale does not fail to impress in his role as Bruce Wayne as well as Batman. However, the moral struggle he deals with throughout the movie becomes watered down and less profound because of the overt dialogue about it. The actions of both Batman and the villians as well as the not so subtle modus operandi of the Joker were sufficient in establishing the theme of The Dark Night.
Heath Ledger's performance is without a doubt legendary. The Joker's costume is nothing near as elegant or animated as Jack Nicholson's portrayal, and even with the sparcity of make-up It remains absolutely shocking to believe that it is actually Heath beneath the make-up and behind the devilish speak.
In fact Heath Ledger's performance is so good that the audience is led to the edge of nearly rooting for the Joker. When considering the length of the movie it is unfortunate that the audience is not treated to more scenes of his outstanding portrayal of the Joker.
We are introduced to the next villian, Two-Face, with which Batman will surely face in the third installation of the series. However, I would have left the theater feeling less exhausted from sitting for nearly 3 hours and more exhaulted by Ledger's performance had several scenes with Two-Face been edited.

Overall this is a great film. Bale gives a polarizing performance but lets face the facts...Heath Ledger gives the performance of a lifetime. It's unfortunate that he will never grace us with future performances such as this. One small issue seems to be a lack of focus and overall flow to the plot. Seems like we have a film that is 15 minutes too long with more than one ending. But I enjoyed it.

The Dark Knight is by far the best movie I have ever seen. Every aspect of this movie will keep you guessing. And the hoopla is true about Heath Ledger's performance. He WILL win an award for his performance as the Joker. I just hope that a sequel is made, it's set up for it.

Too many villians.
Too dark,with undistinguishable fight sceens, and I'm a martial artists. Why so depressed Bruce? Billionaire, babes, toys, Butler, Mansion, Crime Fighter........get real, non of that's depressing. Ledger was way over the top. No one that insane could zip his own pants much less bring a City to it's knees. And what's with the morality lesson on the two boats? The civilians would have been blown to dust in the real world...in a real quick hurry. The last two Batman movies start off ok then drag on and on and on and then try to cram it all together in the last few minutes. Also I cannot be convinced that Gotham's citizens would be anti-Batman at any point.
Hell Boy Two was a much better movie.

What could I possibly say to accurately reflect the cinematic prowess of the people responsible for making this movie ? The acting, photography, special effects and stunt work are all on a level much higher than one would normally associate with a comic book adventure. Add a sprinkling of gratuitous Morgan Freeman sentimentality, with an absolutely brilliant portrayal of The Joker by Heath Ledger and the result is a cinematic experience that you won't soon forget. See this movie.
