Avatar was truly an amazing joy ride. I saw it 3D in the IMAX and it blew me away. The graphics and filming techniques are top notch and even if the plot doesn't add up to your standard, the movie itself will. The plot was interesting and had a very good take home moral. The characters were deep and moving and like Transformers, you walk away wishing a world like theirs existed so it could be experienced! A MUST SEE!

I love what they have done with the 3d glasses!...I was hesitant to see the movie until my son told me they had improved. I highly suggest to see this movie in 3d - it was awesome!! The plot reminded me of several movies rolled into one but, it was very entertaining to say the least.

Avatar finally ushers the theater experience into the 21st Century with what will soon become the standard for all big screen movies.
The story was entertaining, though a bit predictable, and the 3-D graphics were delightful and very engaging.
This movie is not appropriate for young children but is easily the must see movie of the year for teens and adults of all ages.

Without getting into spoilers, Avatar's story is an amalgam of a dozen other movies you've seen. The difference though, is the magnitude of its execution. This film truly deserves the term epic. The cast did amazing work with the inane script. Zoe Saldana knocked it out of the park. She wasn't a starlet playing an alien, she *was* an alien. You might not love this movie, but i think you will enjoy it and you will witness the bar being raised into orbit.

I'm not a big Cameron fan, I think his films tend to run long when they don't have to, (they could have removed an hour of Titanic and it would have been a better flick).

I watched it once and I fell in love with it, so I had to watch it again. The story plot is a bit recycled but still beautiful all the same. And the imagery, oh the imagery; it's unbelievable, and to experience it as best as you can, watch it in IMAX 3D.

Enjoyed it with my 11 yr old. Would appeal to multi-aged groups. Opted out of the 3-D, the 2-D was impressive enough - vivid colors, etc.

This movie had tremendous special effects and a wonderful love story. However, the political agenda was so overwhelming, it was hard to overcome. This movie is clearly anti-military as it focused only on worst case scenario of military servitude. The real problem in the film was more communication than good versus evil.

I originally wanted to see this movie because the sets and characters were so beautiful. As an artist, I was intrigued. I did not dream that I would be immersed and completely lose track of time. The message of greed and ethnocentricity of our culture was a good one that I hope is clearly understood by all viewers. I was saddened by the typical lack of respect for a different culture. We should embrace the differences and be enriched by it. The movie? Definitely Oscar material. It shot right into my top 5 all-time faves. Beautiful sets, costuming, linguistics, acting, story - everything. Don't miss this one. It will be a classic...

OK this movie does use a lot of stereotypical character types and cliche' to deliver a message that is rather predictable. All that being said - this is a great movie in the vein of Star Wars. It is a both a classic story and a current statement about the abuses of empire and the mistreatment of indigenous peoples by uncaring, conquering forces. While that message my go unnoticed by many movie-goers it's a story that many others will take to heart. This is a must see movie for adults, young adults and maybe even some kids who can handle the action and battle violence.

Avatar is simply the best movie I've seen in a very long time. The story is rich and compelling, and even though the movie runs a bit long, it doesn't really feel that long. The only negative is the script’s rigid adherence to ALL contemporary Hollywood clichés (evil corporation: check; crazed military guy: check; enlightened scientist: check; noble savages: check; gaia persona: check; battle to save nature: check; tough heroine: check; troubled/crippled hero: check!) Still, the story-telling, amazing animation, creative setting, great voice acting, etc more than make up for the banality of the plot. Great flick!

While watching the 2D movie we were fine but after we left we both had a severe headache. Made us sick. The visual effects and story were great but something caused us to get very bad headaches.

This movie is great!, but we bought the tickets for a "3D IMAX movie" and, at least in "AMC Sunset Place", I don't know why the call it "IMAX"...It's just 3D... You can go to see this movie and enter to the page "IMAX.com" and you'll see the difference I'm talking about...

Very slow start. Editors should have taken 20 - 40 minutes out of the show. The pace picked up mid-way through and the last half went at a fast enough pace to maintain interest. The plot was weak, animation graphics were above average, and the score was average. One person in the audience did applaud at the end, but I have no idea why. Definitely worth the price of admission though, we saw it for free.

Visually, the movie was amazing. Great scenery, effects, etc. The CGI creatures looked so real I didn't even question their authenticity. The story, on the other hand, was very predictable - I had the whole story and the ending figured out before the end of the 15 minute prologue. After that, it was just sitting around for 2 1/4 hours waiting for it to end - no surprises, no twists, and nothing very interesting. It was a typical Cameron film. Looked great but with a mediocre story. It is worth seeing in the theatre for the visuals but wait for a matinee or use a gift card. It is not worth full price. Visuals = 5 stars. Story = 2 stars. Overall = 3.

My husband and I took our two teenagers and my daughters boyfriend to see this and we loved it! The movie graphics are beautiful, it sucks you in and keeps you there. You are one within the movie, and the time flew by.
I didn't see it in 3-D but have plans to see it again on I-Max. I laughed, I cried, I thought the characters were wonderful, and the story line and message were fantastic. Well worth the money, the whole theater started clapping at the end.
