I heard good things about the movie but was still impressed beyond that. Excellent mix of comic relief. Extremely well done graphics and animation. I had to laugh when the audience held up the "live long and prosper" sign but it was all in good fun.
What a blast I had at this movie. Can't wait to see it again and can't wait to own it.

It was amazing! Anyone who has the slightest fond memory of the original star trek will not be disappointed. I only wish William Shatner made a cameo as well..........maybe next time.

This was an epic movie. It was almost as good as The Fifth Element, but the music sound track wasn't futuristic like in Fifth Element. Movies from the future need to have music from the future, such as trance and other types of electronic music.

JJ Abrams has made a fresh and respectful re-boot of Star Trek. To quote mom, "Seeing how it all began was a hoot". The crew we've known for so long is back. Without mimicking the previous cast, they've re-imagined our heroes with fresh eyes and minds and yet, kept the camaraderie that was so much a part of Star Trek. The cast is great, with two definite standouts. Karl Urban's Dr. Mc Coy, before we see him on screen we know that Bones has arrived. This portrayal surely has DeForest Kelley smiling! Zachary Quinto was seemingly born to play Spock. His voice is higher than what we're used to from the iconic Nimoy, but hey this is a younger Spock and maybe his voice hasn't changed yet. Trek fan or not go see this film. Live Long and Prosper!

I have been a fan of all the star trek series and was NOT disappointed with this movie. Indeed I was pleased and happy ... even proud. So much so that I cried several times at the beginning and near the end because of the introduction of the original charaters. They were introduced in a most interesting way. Can't wait to see it again and again!!!

I am a big Star Trek fan so I have to admit that I was very apprehensive about seeing this movie. I sat through a lot of the movie thinking to myself, 'that's not supposed to happen.' Then I had to remind myself that JJ Abrams was creating an alternate universe. Although I will say that this was a well cast, well acted and written movie I still struggle with the fact that this erases just about everything that has been done before with regards to Star Trek. The different series and movies might as well not count anymore. That said, if you have never watched any Star Trek or never really got into it this movie was great. For those of us who still love the old shows and movies...I don't know. I'll have to think about it....

Star Trek was a very enjoyable ride,one that has secured the Star Trek franchise for another 5 movies. We enjoyed it and commented on how the special effects were state of the art. Make sure you see it in a theatre with a great sound system and dlp if possible because this movie was made for the BIG screen and paying extra rather than waiting to see it at a bargain price will only diminish it's impact.

This was without a doubt the best Star Trek movie made. Its added action sequences brought new life to what was primarily a character driver series. The addition of the space battles will pull in more of an audience. Further more, the tying in of this with the other movies was brilliant. There wasn't a question left hanging. Watching Nemoy once again play the favorite of Spock was memorable and touching. This story allows for more movies to be written from here.

Mr. Abrams doesn't give you much chance to breathe. It was very enjoyable and the characters I love seem to be in good hands all around. Karl Urban stole the show every time he opened his mouth.

No need to repeat all the praise given this movie; I agree. The one criticism I have with this movie (and I find with a lot of action movies) is that the actors do things that are not physically possible. They either break the laws of physics or do things that are not possible for a human. This makes the movie unbelievable at this point which then makes me disconnect from it. Other than that, great movie.

This movie is great!! I rank this movie right up there with Dark Knight. The cast in this movie NAIL and I mean NAIL there characters. These actors bring the heart and soul, but yet make the characters their own. Yet this is a team movie. The interaction and team work is marvelous. In my opinion, Carl Urban brings home Dr. Leonard McCoy. He is unbelievable. Simon Pegg as Montgomery Scott is fantastic. Pine and Quinto are amazing as well. The action is almost none stop. The dialog great!! Then to top it off.......Leonard Nimoy! His screen time may be short, but he makes you understand why we have loved Star Trek for so long. This is a MUST SEE movie.

I was truly suprised at how they made this not a sequel! It was original and yet sitll had the cast of character that I loved from the original show giving us backround on how those characters came together to be the people we liked from the show ,was pure genuis and fun to watch. The action was updated with new technology but kept true to the show visually. Everyone will enjoy this new Movie !!!!!

I watched Star Trek in High School in the Seventies. The movie was a lot of fun. Definitely a really good movie. Has something for everyone. Took my 15 year old daughter and she loved it too.

I went with my hubby (he's the trekkie), and all through the movie he kept telling me that he remembered this or that from stories told during the original series, like the fight scene in the bar before Kirk joins Star Fleet.

Have watched since the originals first aired. Raised 2 sons on it who went on to science based careers and who are raising their own kids on it. Saw it with family on mother's day and sat in front of a boy, about 7, who was doing the same. During an early scene where young Spock is in school, the little boy piped up and said "Why are they learning so much?". I grinned for the rest of the film. Another child, living in a culture where willful ignorance is considered the norm, got a glimpse of something better. Mission accomplished. May Star Trek, in any incarnation, live forever.

Lot of action. Great characterization and interactive dialog. Some moments where you might find yourself tense your muscles (if you can get out of the movie long enough to realize what is happening to you!).
Really good foundation for future movies.
A little confusing on the time-shifting/paradox thing but not enough to detract from the movie.
The VISUAL of the movie couldn't be better, absolutely stunning. Sound was nearly as good as that, also.

Just like my MAC, Star Trek comes across very intuitive, sexy, smart and stylized. I applaud JJ Abrams for this effort. From the Spock -Uhura love story (soo cute) to the omages to each of the characters (Bones and Scotty are my faves), I can't believe the movie moves this fast!
Its not for the die hards who want Star Trek cannon to continue but for those who hated the series (me), mocked its fans (me) and scoffed at the idea of resurrecting the franchise (me). In any case, it was very enjoyable.

My entire family loved this fresh and long over due version of Star Trek. We are long time fans of the original (and in our eyes) the only true Star Trek. This movie captures the personality, humor, excitement, and aunthenticity of the first Star Trek television series. This movies compliments, but does not mock, the original story and crew members. I am already anticipating seeing this movie again ... and I can't wait for the follow up movie to this movie! 5 stars!!!
