This was a lot better film adaptation than I thought could be done to the original Marvel comic - yes I am a former comic collector. At first I thought Robert Downey Jr. was a weird choice to play Tony Stark - as in the comic, the charater is a lot more polished and not very goofy. However, Downey's quirkiness really adds dimension to the character. Jeff Bridges(the dude) was really a surprisingly good villian as well. All the acting and action is great, the movie is intelligent without being too Tom Clancy and has just the right amount of CGI. Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine / Audioslave makes a surprise appearance as one of the insurgents. Blink and you may miss him. Anyway, recommended for the whole family and small animals too! :-)

You'll love the movie. Ironman stays very close to the 1963 comic for the first part of the movie so if you're a fan of the comic, you'll love the movie. Even if you never read the comic, you'll enjoy the movie. It's fast paced with lots of action. The special effects are super. I really want one of those suits! Robert Downey, Jr makes a great Tony Stark. Gwyneth Paltrow is really good as Pepper Pots and I loved watching Jeff Bridges get his butt kicked as Obidiah Stane. He was a pretty reasonable villan.

I've seen it twice already.
The acting and the story are great.
What I really loved about it was that they genuinely made an effort to stay true to the comics, instead of trying to add their own b.s. "interpretations" of the characters. The story lines, in particular, were very true to the comics (the Iron Man suit you see in the beginning is how the original suit used to look).
Still, one does not have to be a fan (or even know) the comics to totally enjoy this movie. Twice I went with people who knew nothing about Iron Man and both loved it.
Can't wait for the sequels.

I brought my son because he has been wanting to see it since he saw the previews. I thought it was going to be a bad make of a great comic book. Boy was I wrong. It was a great and very enjoyable movie. It was not to long or to short. They used just enough time to tell a great story. I will be totally upset if there isn't another movie made.

I enjoyed the movie very much. It didn't closely follow the comic and was modernized for a more current story.
The only weak link was Gwyneth as Pepper she was bland and didn't seem to enjoy the fun spirit that all the men brought to their charecters.

This was one of the best Marvel movies to date. Robert Downey did a fantastic job as portraying Stark and made the movie totally believable. The special effects in the movie were awesome!! And did I mention that Pepper was HOTT!!!!!!!! Jeff Bridges played his role without flaw.

Even if your not a fan of the comic book this movie really delivers. The casting job in this film is superb. This has all the corny lines that a "Comic book movie" has, but it is more mature than Spiderman because of the cast. Robert Downey Jr is awesome in this role. I know he is a good actor, but he really impressed me with this.

I never was a fan of comic book super heroes as a child. However, being the mother of two boys forced me into getting to know these characters. In saying that, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie! Robert Downey, Jr., Jeff Bridges, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Terrence Howard made their characters come to life! It was a hard sell for me to think of Robert Downey, Jr. as a super hero, but he really put his heart and soul into his character. And Jeff Bridges did a great job playing a villain! I applaud the fact that the writers did not feel the need for Iron Man and Pepper Potts to 'hook up'. I can't wait for the sequel! I would caution parents who occasionally let their younger children see PG13 movies. This movie has some pretty intense fighting scenes.

Can one word describe IRON MAN? Yes. Wonderful. Fantastic. Great. Phenominal. Awesome.
This was one great comic film that can put in the same status as Superman, Spider-Man, BATMAN BEGINS and X-Men. Jon Favreau actually had the guts to make a character driven story and chose the best actor to portray 'Tony Stark'. Robert Downey Jr. was flawless as the self-centered, arogant playboy. I can't wait for the sequal.

Many comic book movies are cheesy, poorly written, or both. Ironman is neither. Granted, the movie does have parts that make you roll your eyes a bit, but it is a comic book. You must keep in mind that it is meant to be fun and a little far-fetched. Overall, it has good action, funny dialogue. I recommend this movie to anyone who likes a fun movie.

As a mother of boys, I've seen my share of super hero movies...this was the BEST by far. Although most make an effort to keep it entertaining for the adults, Iron Man was enlightening for all - political overtones aside. Robert Downey Jr. was in his element as the spoiled genius with no evil to be found. His kinship with his creations was believable and amusing to watch. It was nice to see Miss Paltrow back in a nice take on Bond's MoneyPenny.

As a long-time comics fan, I was very happy with Iron Man. Downey, Jr was great, and had just the right take on the character, the effects were very good, and not so "Video-gamey" as lot of current CGI effects-laded films. My only quibble is that there could have been more action, but I'll bet they're saving that for the sequel -- which will definitely happen. A very good summer popcorn movie.

I was very skeptical when I heard that Robert Downey Jr. was playing the lead in this movie. I think he is a very good actor,but it didn''t seem to me that this was his kind of movie. I was so wrong. He was really great in this role. He played it very tongue-in-cheek and the chemistry between him and Gwyneth Paltrow was also a nice surprise. I would DEFINITELY recommend this movie and would go see it again.

--After the plethora of comic book movies being released for the past few years, we finally have something that was done right and appealed to the comic book reader and to people who have never held an Ironman Comic in their life.
--From an average movie-goers perspective (girlfriend), it was packed with action and great acting. The movie did not lull. When there was not action, you felt as if it was building up to another scene. You were constantly entertained. Downey Jr was simply superb. He played the part extremely well, which was something I did not expect. He was able to go from heart-felt, to sarcastic/cynical and back again without missed a beat.
--For those of us who have read the comics, the factual basis was quite well done. The biggest things I look for was an accurate portrayal of Tony Stark and an decent tale of the creation of the Ironman armor. I was not disappointed in either aspect. The Stark portrayal was not exactly as comics put it, but rather seemed as if they lumped all of Stark's personalities into one, including his alcohol phase. I felt this made the movie much more watchable than it may have been had they not made Stark a likable character. As for the creation of the Ironman armor, it follows the story fairly well from the first suit to the later ones that Stark builds.
--Overall, the movie was extremely well done. It is most watchable by anyone, and deserves 5 stars. Remember to stay around until the end of the credits for some foreshadowing.

This is the best movie of its kind that I've seen in years. I haven't enjoyed a movie this much in I don't know how long. After the last few summers,I had despaired of ever having so much fun at the movies ever again (yes, I'm talking to you, PIRATES!), but thank to Jon, Robert, et. al., I am back on the summer movie train. That said, IRON MAN set the bar so high, I don't see how it can be topped. But I am SO ready and willing to be proved wrong.

Overall a good movie. Writting was fair, story was overall a good one. Robert Downey portrayed a very good Stark! He was very manly and a bit buff for the movie. I think they could have done it a little better with the story line and how the enemy was killed off, but the story of how Iron Man came to be was really good. This movie is not as good as the first Spiderman, but it comes in a close second.

I was so impressed with this movie. I've been a little dissapointed in Marvel's movies up until this movie. The acting, cinematography, music, and special effects were FANTASTIC!! There wasn't a moment where I was bored. I took my two little brothers and they've been re-inacting the movie for almost 24 hours now! I'm so happy that they deided to make this movie, and Robert Downy Jr. was UNBELIEVABLE!!!

I have never read any of the Iron Man comics and don't know much about the series, but this movie was enough to get me hooked. The characters were believable and the actors played well. Definately left you wanting more, and I can't wait to get it.

Like many others, i really wasn't expecting much but hoping they would do justice to the title by at least making it entertaining.
They succeeded. Iron Man is one of the better attempts at bringing an iconic comic book figure to the silver screen. Great special effects and some pretty witty stuff from Robert Downy Jr. as Tony Stark.
At first i thought "oh no" Downy is all wrong for that part. After seeing the movie i think he fit perfectly. He is eccentric, brilliant, a playboy, sometimes callous and lewd and caught in a turmoil between his fathers legacy (Stark Industries) and his new understanding of global responsibility for the weapons that his company produces. I think he pulls it off well and does justice to the comic book version. Kudos to Jeff Bridges and Gwyneth Paltrow also for their parts. I think their individual portrayals were well done.
Now none of this is Oscar worthy stuff. It isn't that thought provoking or original, but it is entertaining. I recommend it.

I was a little Hesitate in going to see it because spider-man 3 wasnt what i expected so i assumed that Iron Man was going to be a let down, boy was i wrong. I took my nephews to see it and they sat still during the whole movie. It had Action,Comedy,Romance. Then right after the movie i went and bought the game and I'm on the last stage as am typing this review

Although I expected more what the film shows is exciting and entertaining. It left me wanting more and hoping for an Iron Man II. The final scene after the credits (you can't get much better than adding Samuel L. Jackson to the cast) buoyed these hopes immensely so I think the future (possibly an Avenger series) bodes well for the producers of Iron Man.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
