Testosterone heavy-- Lots of things exploding, and *my iron man is better than your iron man* competition...Some fight scenes were long and became boring after awhile. I would rate the movie better than the Spiderman series...Entertaining, but pushes believability.
Also, there is a reward scene for staying through the credits...

This is a fun, exciting movie with a real person for a superhero. His faults make him likeable and his inner goodness comes through while he maintains his sense of humor. I'd prefer that tacky bedroom scene to be cut; it adds nothing to the story as we already got the point that he liked women without that. People tend to bring their little children to superhero movies because the advertising and cool stuff is out there and children want to see it. Kids don't need "love" scenes and brutal violence. I'd give it a more adult rating than PG-13 for that reason.

I always wanted to see Iron Man in a Major Motion Picture. I was skeptical about Robert Downey jr. playing the role, but he did a GREAT JOB!! My wife even enjoyed the movie as well as my son.

As amazing as the effects are in this film, the actors are what makes it work. Robert Downey, Jr. is revelatory. Paltrow is believable - which is a feat considering the material. And Bridges could have a whole new career as a movie villian! I'm a mom and I loved it and so did my 8-year old who's seen it twice now.

The movie was a lot of fun, however the type of violence that was depicted, especially the scenes in the Persian Gulf, were very intense. These days, parents often bring or let kids who are younger than 13 go to these movies without seeing them, themselves first. Especially when it is a superhero film. There were a lot of little kids at this movie . . . I minded the little bit of intimacy much less than the graphic depiction of torture and murder by firing squads while children watched their fathers get killed.
Other than that, for an older teen crowd and adults it was a great film.

This movie was outstanding, stupendous and I would recommend everyone to see it who loves comics. With the acting, writing, storyline and special effects it is the kind of movie that makes you want to see it again which is what my husband and I intend to do. Great job to Downey, Favreau, Paltrow, Howard and Bridges. Excellent work.

I thought that this movie was great fun to watch. The movie did a great job building up the story and the comedy and the action made the 2+ hours fly by. Excellent acting and both the heros and the villains were very well cast. I saw this with my 12 year old and we will probably see this movie again....

Having not really paid any attention to any of the trailers for Ironman, I half expected a comic based Spidermanesque storyline with some superhuman supernatural something happening like a spiderbite or some toxic mess happening. While (without giving away the plot) something like this happened, it was more of a means to an end rather than the reason for the story itself. Like other readers, I found the first 1/2 hour to be very trite and was hoping that the balance of the movie did not go in the same manner. Lo and behold when things started moving they really took off! This movie made up easily for the first 1/2 hour slowdown! The movie was action packed, the actors were a good mesh and the storyline was not without a morale! This movie shows that Robert Downey Jr. is still the great actor he has always been! Very entertaining.

I was so looking forward to seeing this movie. I was so disappointed. I felt nothing for the character played by Downey. I thought he was boring and uninteresting. The only ones I enjoyed were the soldiers in the vehicle with him and they die in less then 3 minutes and I was upset about that. It dragged on and on and on and on and on. The CGI was really good so I gave it a two star. Bridges character was more interesting then Downey but it still left me with nothing to draw me into the movie. I was falling asleep in my chair nearly dropping my pretzel. If you are a die hard fan of Iron Man you would probably still like this movie. I would suggest renting this one instead of wasting your money at the theater. It really didn't have enough to warrant a big screen theater. It would do nicely at home.

I am a huge fan of movies based on Marvel comics because of their action, effects and humor. Iron Man is another great movie from Marvel. Robert Downey, helped by a great cast, does an excellent job portraying Tony Stark.

Great movie! Good blend of action, comedy, suspense, etc. Love to see RD, jr. having such success. Jeff Bridges will always be Starman to me, I can't help it. Have to hand it to them for turning war profiteering, poverty and desperation into pop entertainment. It's cynical- I know! - but makes us american!

I'm old skool. I really enjoyed this movie. I loved how they treated Tony Stark as well as Pepper. the story line was true to form for hollywood standards. Jon did a great job. The villain Beau Bridges was perfect. I have recommended this film to non marvel fans too.

This movie is just about as good as a superhero movie can be. I've always found the genre entertaining, but never really saw any artistic value in it. Batman Begins got close. A little more humanity and believability. But Iron Man, with the great Robert Downy Jr. brings the humanity of a superhero movie to the next level. Sure, in two months the Dark Knight will probably trump it, but for what I was expecting this movie to be when I first heard about it, I must say, it went above and beyond all expectation. And for anyone who likes the summer movie experience, you don't want to miss this one. Don't wait for this one to go to DVD. I don't care if you have a great surround sound system, a huge screen HDTV and a Blu-Ray player, you don't want to miss the theater experience of this one. Get in the spirit of the season, and start it off right.

Liked every thing about this movie - the way it was shot, the lighting, the music, the action sequences, the acting & the message. Especially liked Gwyneth Paltro as a strawberry blonde/red head. Good chemistry between her & Robert Downey.

Far exceeded my expectations, and those are high for any comic adaptation these days. The history 'rewrites' were faithful to the original in general theme and content and Robert Downey Jr was spectacular as Tony Stark. If I had any criticism for the movie it would be on the final fight scene, which was very well done but somehow felt a tad ... incomplete? It wasn't a let-down, but maybe wasn't quite up to the rest of this otherwise brilliant movie.

Awesomely awesome, the CGI has gotten to the point where it's nearly seamless. (ie: it's hard to tell what's real) The acting by Downey is superb. Bridges gets a little cheesey towards the end, but whatevs. Good times, Awesome effects, excellent humor, great action, a wonderful super hero movie.....great flick!

A little slow to start, but very good overall. Even my wife liked it. Definitely one of the better comic book adaptations I've seen (and I have boxes of sealed comics in my attic, including many Iron Man issues).

Just a great and enjoyable movie. We left the theater wanting to see more. The movie was so absorbing that we actually forgot it was 2 hours long. Prerequisites for a great movie were all met. Iron Man had a good start, an even better middle and an awesome finish. Best Marvel Comics movie yet.

This movie was a model of excellent script and casting. I couldn't have asked for better. I have enjoyed all the previous movies from X-Men to Spiderman but this was near perfect. Robert Downey Jr. IS Tony Stark. The action, the chemistry between the characters, the fact that it very neatly followed the original comic, served to bring me totally into the movie experience. Bravo!! And, if you waited until the credits were over, you got a nice little surprise. See this movie!!

Holding true to the comic story line, Iron Man delivers a knock-out performance by Robert Downey, Jr. and supporting cast (altough it took a while to recognize Jeff Bridges). Don't go to see it to it you're expecting 2 hours of Iron Man kicking butt; the action sequences encompass all of about 30 minutes of the 126 min running time. The rest is the story of Tony Stark. Of course by the end of the movie you'll find yourself having said "I want that" about 50 times (sure if we could all be billionaire super-geniuses, right?).
I was truly amazed by the CGI/live-action integration; there was never a "that was green screened" moment. Although believing some of the story is difficult, you have to remember, you're watching a movie about a comic book - it's NOT real. A great movie; one worth owning in your DVD collection when it comes out.

Say if Iron Man was just a great action movie or if the special effects had just been excellent. Say it was just the fact that the plot was engaging and the characters actually grew during the movie...these factors alone would have made a "good" movie. What happens when you have all these elements and more?!? Then you have a spectacular movie. Mr. Downey played his role flawlessly, the villain was truly wicked and the supporting roles were just that supporting without stealing the spotlight. This is one movie you can see several times and never be disappointed; a true winner!
