Holding true to the comic story line, Iron Man delivers a knock-out performance by Robert Downey, Jr. and supporting cast (altough it took a while to recognize Jeff Bridges). Don't go to see it to it you're expecting 2 hours of Iron Man kicking butt; the action sequences encompass all of about 30 minutes of the 126 min running time. The rest is the story of Tony Stark. Of course by the end of the movie you'll find yourself having said "I want that" about 50 times (sure if we could all be billionaire super-geniuses, right?). I was truly amazed by the CGI/live-action integration; there was never a "that was green screened" moment. Although believing some of the story is difficult, you have to remember, you're watching a movie about a comic book - it's NOT real. A great movie; one worth owning in your DVD collection when it comes out.
First, as to the other reviewers who were appalled at the movie's language, racism, and other content: a) did you see the first one, and b) did you read the MPAA rating? It's an H&K movie; expect what you would expect from an H&K movie. It's crass, vulgar, racist, has mindless T&A, and is probably best viewed under the influence. Second, as far a sequel goes this movie's pretty much on par. The producers plan on banking on the coattails of the H&K name with a sub-par plot, over-stretched attempts at humor, T&A, and a semi-cult following. That's about it. There are parts that may make you chuckle, others that you'll just shake your head at, but don't expect "laugh out-loud" comedic genius from this one - they're just not there. In short, I enjoyed the movie, but was a mild bit disappointed. It seems to be grossly misnomered (the "escape" lasts all of 10 minutes), and some of the attempts to create funny moments were obvious and, therefore, not funny. A valiant attempt that maybe fell a little flat. See it, but don't get your hopes up.
