Great movie. Lots of action and techno stuff. You wouldn't think that Downey could pull off the superhero gig, but the plot really plays out just right for that idea. Several genuinely funny parts with a plot that is relevant in today's world.
I went to see it twice, it was that good!

At first I wasn't wanting to go see this, but I did and I was astonished. It is a movie to see in a theatre. The special effects are incredible and the casting was near perfection. R Downing Jr was perfect for this. The story line is complete and you will leave satisfied. Great ending. Great Bad Guys, Excellent Good Guys.

The movie held my attention the whole time and there was never a dull moment. Great special effects and flying sequences! I am looking forward to the sequel! However, I would like to see a more balanced protrayal of Arabs. Not all Arabs are bad guys.

Having grown up reading Marvel mags, I am always curious if they can pull off a reasonable rendition of the actual comic book. Since "Iron Man" was my favorite of the bunch, I planned to be especially critical going into the theatre to see it.
My review is very simple. Wow!
Obviously, the storyline was updated to fit the times. But, they nailed this solid. From the casting to the special effects, it all came together to produce a "straight from the Marvel pages" winner. R.Downy, Jr. as Tony Stark was a casting masterpiece. The very character could have been written for him in the 60's.
This is a must see if you are a comic book reader or if you just love a great action/hero flick.

Well done all the way around, good story, good acting, good techs this one has it all and I was not disappointed in any way.
This falls into the Classic's and will one day become a staple item for Turners collection to be re-played over & over again.
Yup, I'll be buying a DVD for home abuse in reviewing far too many times, that's the sign of a good one.
Go see it - go see it again...

This movie was a wonderful surprise. I found Iron Man entertaining and I was completely drawn into this movie. It was my husband’s choice. I was looking forward to our evening but not the movie. It had many elements –i.e. war, technology, etc. -- that are usually overdone and I do not enjoy. Not in this movie, it moved along and I am looking forward to the next Iron Man.
Stay through the credits; is this a hint of the next movie?

I never really followed the comic while a child nor the circumstances that made the character Iron Man! This movie is definitely different than Spiderman or Superman; it's funnier, darker, more human skills oriented than the films stated above. It was like watching Transformers , but with a dose of sarcasm from Downey's character. I didn't think that this movie was going to stay in mind, but it did. Seeing the end of the movie, there's gotta be a second sequel!!!!

It stuke with the story line with the Iorn Man that I now so little about, but what i did now it was there. It is something for all family to see it fun maenly for men I think, but you got to now the saying "Boy's and are TOY's". So 5 stars. Thank you Mr. Lee for the storys.

Excellent adaptation of the comic book series, with the added bonus of Robert Downey Jr.'s endless wit and quick comebacks. The exposition of how Iron Man came to be was a bit long, and the final battle a bit short, but all in all a great time at the movies.

Finally a great superhero movie with a solid rock foundation!! No better way to open a movie than with the guitar-and-drum-strutting "Iron Man" by Sabbath. Props to the composers for streamlining and supporting the action with power riffs and anthem-like melodies. If you get the chance to see it digital, by all means...DO IT!!

I was disappointed that in the first 10 minutes or so there was already a frisky bedroom scene. This is not mentioned in the reason for the "R" rating. Violence is mentioned. However, be aware there are several inappropriate mentions and scenes in this movie that are not appropriate for any conservative family.

When I was a kid, Iron Man was my hero. When we'd play superheros, I was Iron Man. The movie was every bit up to my expectations. I thought every actor fit their roll perfectly. Even though Jeff Bridges was the villian, he did a superb job, as did Robert Downey Jr. I reccomend this movie to everyone. Great Job!!!

Okay, another special effects, super hero, dominate the world movie, but.... and this is a big but... It works. It's entertaining. Downey and Bridges and Paltrow and Howard are terrific - they show what real acting is all about. I'm over 60 years old, love dramas, comedies, well written, few special effects. And I did not read Iron Man comics. But I enjoyed this movie a lot. Great fun.

I have always been a big Iron Man fan ever since I was a child. I really liked how they portrayed how money can corrupt even the brightest of minds. But when faced with the reality of how his weapons were being used, Mr. Stark makes it his mission to right the wrongs of his business partner. It was a great portrayal of human nature and the fight for survival at all costs. I am a technology geek and I was overwhelmingly impressed with the various technologies introduced in this movie. The introduction of the Avengers project at the very end of the movie wets my appetite and anticipation of the next movie in this series. Great job Stan Lee and group!

I love Robert Downey jr. and have been rooting for his success ever since his role as Charlie Chaplin. As the Iron Man, Downing experiences an epiphany of sorts which is certainly timely in this political climate. From cynicism and sarcasm to hope and the triumph of the human heart and soul over evil, this is an everyman's tale filled with, action, humour, and great performances and characters. It is great fun with lots of extras like clever robots who steal many a scene. It is enjoyed best with friends, a full audience, and a great theatre for sound and screen. This will become a classic Adventure/SciFi/Fantasy. Hopefully the inevitable sequel will be just as brilliant and uplifting.

There are two ways to look at this movie - as a fan of the comic book, and as someone who has never read it.
I can say that neither will be disappointed. For those who are not familiar with the comic book, this is an action-packed thrill ride with a great story, good humour, and a great two hours worth of fun.
As a fan of the comic book, you may appreciate the movie even more. It is true to the comic as few other movies are, and it's as much fun for the sheer geek-happiness that Favreau imparts to the story as it is for the story itself.
This movie is in my top five of all time; few others bring together so much fun for the geek and the 'layman' alike!

If you love robotics, comics, science, action, and comedy, this movie is for you. This movie delivers and does not disappoint at any level.
Robert Downey is hilarious, witty and brings the soul of iron man alive. Jeff Bridges plays an excellent role of the vilain, and Gweneth Paltrow is just adorable.

It's not Fellini, it's not Altman, but you know that well before you enter the theatre.
Overall it's a good movie. A bit disappointing at the end. Great special effects, nice touch of irony. Great actors, Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow in particular.
Good to have Marvel directly involved in the movie business, instead of relying 100% on the majors

I am a fan of supehero movies, but I also expect a level of resemblance to the comics themselves. This story stuck very close the comic and was very enjoyable to watch. Robert Downey was better then expected.

Yes, that's what I said when my husband and I were driving home..."That was cute, wasn't it honey?" He looked at me like I was wearing an Iron Man suit. "Cute??," he said, no doubt fearing for his wife's sanity, "I don't think cute is the right word!" But think about it...a playboy gazillionaire-turned-super-hero? I think that's cute. A tentative (if not well played out) romantic storyline? My heart flutters just thinking about it. Downey and Paltrow played their parts to a T. Howard putting up with all his old buddies antics and eccentricities? Heart-warming and well let's face it...cute! Now I admit, cute doesn't sum up everything about this box-office-record-breaking phenom. To me personally it was thought-provoking at times, hilariously ridiculous at others and out-and-out entertaining to the last. We need a real Tony Stark! All in all this film was a wonderful balance of reality (war, morals, love, hate, good, evil) and fantasy (flying metal suits...hey I'm not saying impossible, but what do I know, I'm a college drop-out).

I've grew up with Iron Man comic books and thought the movie did a good job, even added to what I remember from the comics. I love Robert Downey Jr., and I feel that this was one of his best performances. Paltrow and Bridges added to the storyline, the only thing I would liked to have seen was a bit more on the story between Downey and Paltrow. I think this is a movie for all ages, and I would definitely recommend this to a friend!!
