Self-consciously campy, with good performances, but script is mediocre, at best, and more concerned with its own campiness than with plot coherence - we never really understand what ADM was doing (they earned record-breaking fines for corrupt practices)....there was a real story, that was drowned out. I loved and hated this movie. Matt Damon was fantastic (so was everyone else), the problem ws the director. Steve Sodebergh did not do a good job, he had all the tools to make this a classic, but completely phoned it in.
IF ONLY this movie was directed by the Coen Brothers, then this would have been a classic.
Too bad. Would I see it again? No, because it will still be the same movie directed by the same director.

We enjoyed this movie. The humor is subtle. The humor is not in the plot, but rather in the character. I found it to get funnier and funnier as the movie went on. It's not an uproariously funny story if that's what people are looking for, but it's character driven. I would recommend it.

Matt Damon is a talented actor and in this hard to follow story he is still funny and witty. In my opinion the problem was with the story line. It was confusing and not well thought out. The retelling of the story in print was a good read, but this film does not compliment the book. Although some of my favorite actors where in it and they did a good job in character, I will not care to watch it again EVER!!!

This movie was indulgent, boring, confusing, and annoying. I actually walked out in the middle of it. It's an hour of my life I can't get back. If you love Matt Damon you are so much better off re-watching Good Will Hunting, Oceans Eleven, or The Bourne films. This movie does nothing to showcase his talent. Definitely skip it. Damon is hilarious is this movie about the evils of corporate America, corn, and the US government. It just goes to show you that the old formula of twisting reality slightly makes for great fiction. You will enjoy the acting and every scene involving the government. Bakula is also very good.

If you are a fan of shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Flight of the Conchords... you will totally get and totally appreciate this film. Topic was interesting and acting was good but sometimes the story was hard to follow. You couldn't tell if Whitacre's story was just something in his mind or if he really was telling the truth. Overall though a pretty good movie.

Under the heading of truth is stranger than fiction, this film is a must see. This was once again a very original and entertaining film from the Director Steven Soderbergh. "The Informant!" is a story about an Ivy League PhD Mark Whitacre (Matt Damon) who was a rising star at a company called Archer Daniels Midland (ADM). Mark Whitacre blew the whistle on a pricing fixing scheme that the company was involved in back in the early 1990's. The usual back stabbing, finger pointing and denials ran amok amongst the other ADM Executives. Matt Damon was brillant and very convincing in his role as a bipolar Mark Whitacre. "The Informant!" is an interesting expose about Corporate Corruption at it's finest. The movie is very entertaining and even funny at times, but there are some slow spots that drag.

A true story and complex as most true stories go! It’s a cautionary tale about corporate abuse of investor faith. Matt Damon is extraordinary as the disturbed Mark Whitacre (bipolar / multiple dimensions); Melanie Lynskey is perfect as the calm, strong Ginger Whitacre. The movie destroys Mark Whitacre’s credibility and does little to replace any shred of the respectability and credibility that he has achieved since his release from prison. If you've read Rats in the Grain Against All Odds, or The Informant, you’ll understand this movie: it shows the former disturbed side of Mark Whitacre, the ineptitude of the FBI in detail and how it destroyed instead of supporting its informant.

This movie is definatly not a comedy. While there were 4 or 5 parts that made me laugh, it was not interesting and couldnt hold my attention. It was funny when they were trying to be funny but it seemed like they were only trying to be funny 10% of the time. It dragged on and half through i couldnt wait for it to be over. Not worth the 10 dollars but maybe rent it on a rainy day when it comes out on DVD.

I thought this movie was going to be very funny. Instead it was very dry through the early parts and the funny parts built up slowly throughout the film. Overall this movie is funny in the quirky way. This is a good movie to watch but not own.

Agree with all who said "kept waiting for something to happen."
Tedious story-telling. Could have made more of his mental illness symptoms for some interest.
Best part about it was the accuracy of the clothing, jewelry and sets. (Had to look at something to keep myself occupied.)
What a waste of time.

This movie was okay with a shining Matt Damon playing a very convincing corporate nerdy midwestern scientist. It didn't really start to get good until toward the end and dragged a bit in many spots. The thoughts in Damons head throughout the movie were hilarious and he did a great job playing this part. The story is pretty interesting and won't be for everyone. If you are not into the corporate business world you will be bored in this movie. Bakula was pretty good in this as well and some surprise cameo appearances by Mike Omalley, Joel Mchale and Patton Oswalt. Real surprise cameo by the Smothers Brothers. I think this one could have been a lot better. Damon literally carried this movie.
