This movie has been done hundreds of times. The engaged couple that is getting married out of duty or for all the wrong reasons, one of the couple finds "true love" in an unlikely place with someone that is right under their nose and predictably wind up together.
The problem is not the predictability, it's the poor chemistry between the leads and the seemingly baseless romance that develops. The romance just was compelling.
The scenery is beautiful. Some of the exposure to local Irish characters and Irish lore make this not completely unbearable.

Sweet. But I agree with other reviewers that the chemistry between Adams and Goode was missing. Also, Adams was noticeably pregnant, which interferred very much with my willing "suspension of disbelief."
It wasn't quite bad enough to drive me out of the theater. I stayed. I watched. Ultimately, it had a sweet romatic premise that it simply didn't deliver very well.

This is great, clean, feel-good romance movie. The plot was pretty good for a romance and the scenery at times was breath-taking. Had some great funny moments and it definitely is recommendable to watch with your younger daughters

Reading the other reviews about this movie being predictable, and no chemistry between the actors, etc......I say, come on! It was a great little movie about love - did I figure it out? - Yes but did I laugh out loud - Yes! My girlfriends and I loved it! This is a sweet movie with beautiful views of Irish scenery and accurate portrayal of local people. It is neither thought provoking nor exciting but does provide humor and cuteness. The story held my attention and I felt good when I walked out of the theater. It would also be a fun girl's night out movie.

This was a fun, feel good movie without a lot of crudeness making it appropriate to watch with your daughters. If it wasn't for the backdrop of Ireland, I'd say don't bother seeing it in the theater, wait for video. But I think the beauty would be somewhat lost on the small screen. I did crack up out loud a couple times which I don't usually do but I agree almost everything good was shown in the trailer which was disappointing. Nothing to write home about, but enjoyable.

I like Amy Adams, but she couldn't drag 'Leap Year' out of its mediocrity. Having the beauty and character of Ireland as the setting is always good, but the story and acting were shallow. I saw no chemistry between the leads, and no logical reason why either of them would want to be with the other. Everything good about this movie was shown in the trailer. If you want to see a really good movie of its kind instead of a poor imitation, rent the classic "The Quiet Man".

Although predictable, like most chick flicks, I highly enjoyed this movie. I am already a big fan of Amy Adams as well, as I feel she's very relatable. I felt I could relate to a lot of the humor in this movie since I've been abroad, completely out of my element, and have specifically been in Ireland... absolutely gorgeous shots of the country. They captured the culture very well. I laughed out loud at times, enjoyed the chemistry between Adams and Goode, and left the theatre happy i saw it. My mom left wanting to go to Ireland. Definitely not the best movie I've seen, but a great chick flick if you're in the mood.

I saw the trailors for this movie and thought "What a cute movie!?!" But deep down you always wonder if the movie is going to be as good as the trailor. This movie was better. The movie continued to catch me off guard with it's humor and the connection between Adams and Goode was totally believable. Though a predictable ending, how they got there wasn't. It was a little slow at first while building the storyline and characters, but did pick up and the gorgeous views of the Irish countryside was a fantastic filler. If you're in the mood for a feel good movie, this is it.

I enjoyed this movie although it saeemed a little slow moving. After a while you got to where it didn't seem as slow because of the beautiful Ireland landscape. The story moved along at a believable pace and was a good if typical storyline.

I think the primary draw to this movie is the two leads. Amy Adams and Matthew Goode have a Tracy/Hepburn quality to their onscreen chemistry. The cinematography is breathtaking. It's an excellent date film, well directed, acted and written.

I don't understand all the reviews saying this is a predictable rom-com and the comedy forced, etc. I thought it was a great movie that had a lot of unpredictable comedic and very touching emotional moments from both leads. The chemistry between the 2 romantic leads was palpable. It is actually very different from the usual present day rom-com because it is actually ROMANTIC and FUNNY. GO SEE IT -- the 2 leads are beautiful on the inside and out. Unless you are jaded, this movie will touch your heart.

Amy Adams character was a nightmare. Basically a shrew -- why anyone would even like her, much less fall in love with her is a mystery. The most predictable of circumstances and events and not one whit of intelligence or humor. I like Amy A. as an actress and Matthew Goode is easy on the eyes and ears but, my god, please give the viewer a romantic comedy that involves more than ten brain cells.

While not totally terrible, this movie is too formulaic and predictable, and the chemistry between the leads for the most part is nonexistent. The Irish scenery is very nice, but scenery alone cannot carry a picture. Many will compare this film with 'Made of Honor' with Patrick Dempsey, and while the overall formula is similar, the latter is a far better movie. Totally a 'chick flick' judged by the attendance at my Saturday night showing - a total of only 4 men and around 100 women. Although this was not a total waste of time, and I don't regret seeing it, it is not a movie I need to (or want to) see again.

We decided to see this instead of "It's complicated" and we are both glad. A sweet story of human nature, finding love in an unexpected place, and second chances. Good acting, good romance, but the pace moves along well too. The movie has a lot of redeeming qualities. Not the usual junk full of big name actors, foul language, and cheap thrills. This movie provides the same type of satisfaction you get from reading a good book, with the added benefit of the beautiful Irish scenery. Well done.

I thought that it started out kind of drab but improved and started to grab my attention about 30-40 mins in to the movie. After that though it was funny and romantic. I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of it. So, you have to wait for it but it was worth it!

After looking at the local movie listings and previewing the trailer, we decided on "Leap Year", although we'd not heard anything about it! We were pleasantly surprised! While the plot was familiar stuff, it still had some delightful moments and the scenery was beautiful. Funny, touching, and entertaining, overall it made for a nice evening at the movies with my wife and our (grown) kids!

My friend and I went out for a girls night out and decided to see a romantic comedy. Half-way into the movie, we walked out. It was unbearable. The movie was extremely predictable and the quality was just... bad! I now see why all the major reviewers said this movie just didn't have charm.

wouldn't say this movies a 'must see' or anything.. definitely predictable, but VERY cute. if you looking for a big surprise or a high suspense movie, this isn't it. but it's funny and a good romance flick and i loved it!

"Leap Year" was a very cute if not predictable movie. Had a number of funny moments and a few *sigh* moments. Amy Adams and Matthew Goode had some very nice on screen chemistry.

While the plot is as old as the romantic movie this classic tale is still great to watch. The acting and events are both well done and while you know the outcome from the beginning it still catches you up in it's twist and turns. It's always nice to see a gentle, unexpected love story that all can enjoy.
