As a consumate action/alien movie lover, I couldn't wait for this show to be relased. Ugh! It is very rare for me to dislike a movie as I much as did this one. There's no way around it, this movie STINKS!
The plot is almost non-existent and the ending seems like they simply ran out of time and money. We waited through the credits to see if there was something at the very end to make sense of it all. There wasn't! Don't waste your money on this piece of rubbish. While there are some good effects (not great), I wouldn't even bother to watch it again on HBO.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

A Different Take on Holmes

This was a creative steampunk action film with a different take on Holmes and Watson. Admittedly, I really didn't like this Holmes much, he was dark and self-indulgent. Watson was petulant, and on again, off again in support of Holmes, and his girlfriend/fiance was annoying.
The special effects carried this film and were they spectacular! The storyline was thought provoking and the antagonist was appropriately evil. Definitely a must see.

Okay Kid's Movie

This is a cute kid's film, okay for children aged to pre-teens. Many of the fight and action scenes are very hokey. The children in the movie are not likeable and the mother comes across a a shallow ditz. The antagonist is more annoying than threatening but there was plenty to laugh about and it leaves you feeling good when you walk out. My 13-year old enjoyed the movie and I didn’t mind sitting through it.
Definitely not a movie I would recommend for adult viewers only.

Great Date Movie

This is a sweet movie with beautiful views of Irish scenery and accurate portrayal of local people. It is neither thought provoking nor exciting but does provide humor and cuteness. The story held my attention and I felt good when I walked out of the theater. It would also be a fun girl's night out movie.

Surprise Ending

This was a great movie along the line of Mad Max (with a conscience added). Excellent and believable effects through beautifully stark cinematography. I highly recommend, but it's not appropriate for my pre-teens who want to see it due to scenes of violence against women.
The end was a surprise and was not in the least predictable. Denzel Washington is amazing in this film.

Excellent Effects

The effects in this movie are excellent and the characters were well written and acted. I like the story line and how it was executed though there was some predictability. It has great elements of action, horror and fantasy, remeniscent of Living Dead. I thought the end was left dangling a bit more than I wanted, but a bit of imagination can fill in the blanks. Won't be taking my 13 year old due to intense morally controversial content.
