Walked out after about 30 minutes. Seemed like a waste of time. Even the special effects were a letdown. Seemed like a collection of scenes and themes from other movies cobbled together, and there was very little foundation laid as to who the characters were or why they were doing what they were doing. Went there with high expectations after all the great reviews.

i came into this movie completely expecting this hyped up, overrated high budget film, but came out a believer. and i've seen it 3 times since haha. i've taken and told friends who were just like me - cynical and with expectations thru the roof, yet all were blown away. i'm still spreading the world. just SEE it.
as you may have read and heard, just visually the $$ is worth it. but there are those that say the story is plain and compare ti to pocahantas, or ferngully. but it's that classic story told in an amazing way. it's already my favorite movie ever :-) just see it man. i swear you won't be disappointed.

I felt this was a movie that had to be experienced in the movie theater and I was right. My husband and I took our daughters, ages 12 and 13 to see it in 3D and it was a visually stunning experience. And like someone else said whether you buy into the storyline or not the movie is worth seeing. The message of the movie is great.

This was my first expieriance with a 3-D film, well worth the extra dollar I spent to see it in 3D. The movie was very well done, in consideration it was CG. You could not tell it. Yo would of thought it was just actors in suits and not CG characters. Very well plot and scenery (sorry for the spelling).

While the artistic/visual aspects of Avatar almost keep one engaged to the end, I found myself checking my watch after 2 hours. The predictable anti-military, pro-environmental Mother Earth messages were far too didactic for me. The plot suffers from largely mundain character development and action sequences after the first half hour, which was one of the better thirty minutes of film out there. Violence pretty much looks like techno creepiness gone wild. "Jake" may have a bright future in films due to his "every guy" appeal, physical appearance and ability to express emotions facially and bodily. The film is overrated and grossly too expensive to see: $17.50 at the 3d theater we attended.

This movie was great. Get past the love story that was obviously going to be tied into it. The 3D, colors made this movie a must see. I'd definitely see this movie again, maybe in IMAX.

I really enjoyed this movie. I feared the 3-D experience would be a drag but it was wonderful. (The modern 3-D glasses made a big difference). They really did a beautiful job on this movie. You really felt for the characters and the scenery was surreal. I'm looking forward to seeing it again.

I thought Avatar was a extremely well done. When it ended, all I could say was, "What a powerful movie!" The time flew by because my connection with the movie was so intense. Beyond the symbolism and messages, I was blown away by the creativity of the producer. What an imagination to create such interesting and unusual characters. It is a movie that can be viewed on many levels thereby appealing to a variety of age groups. I didn't go in with any big expectations, and came out feeling like I saw one of the best movies ever!

This is a solid action movie with outstanding special effects and characters that you can believe in. After leaving the theater, some plot holes do occur to you, but they don't dimish the enjoyment of the film. I'm glad we went, and I'd do it again.

Being a technology guy, I couldn't help but be impressed by the new 3D brought to life by James Cameron, but technology doesn't make a movie, does it?
While this isn't going to sit next to "Citizen Kane" or "The Godfather", it's a solid piece of entertaining film-making. The action is amazing and completely immersive thanks to the 3D. I found the characters believable, for the most part.
It was definitely worth the time and money and provided that classic Hollywood escape. And the visuals will blow you away. Definitely catch it on the big screen in 3D, if you're able.

The movie theme and or message is a over used old one, with just a other world setting instead of perhaps the Amazon Rain Forest area or man first coming to America.

I can't say enough good things about this movie..it was just so very good! I saw it last week and I'm planning to go see it again. Do go see it as a 3D though. It's a "must see!"

I loved Titantic but this movie is the bomb... This movie had everything down packed from drama to action, name it and the movie had it, especilly love.... Then having to be 3D is so awesome... I dont have nothing bad to say about this movie, nothing bad at all... Ofcourse I would recommend this movie to anyone even over hearing someone choosing to see the movie, I would tell them definitely to see this movie, and at Imax the quality its the best.... The first time I went to see it, I went with my boyfriend and the second was with my mom and brother I took them to see and finally am going again to watch it with my kids, the movie its worth see it agin...

I went to see this movie twice..once with friends and then with granddaughter....Good to watch her try to catch the floating spirits...she said that was the best movie ever...love the 3D effects

James Cameron's imagination seems to be limitless. The movie's settings, characters, etc., were so original that I marvelled as each scene appeared on the screen. While the plot wasn't too original (people come and displace native people no they can gain resources), everything else was outstanding.
