I love SciFi. And when you see Avatar you will leave the theather knowing you just saw something special. I've only had that feeling a few times before Jaws on opening day and the original Star Wars movies (don't laugh kids they were amazing in thier time). Avatar MUST be seen in 3D to truely appreciate what a quantum leap this movie really is. The gimicky 3D of the past is dead. This generation of 3D and the way it was used by the director will be the new gold standard.
GO SEE THIS MOVIE NOW before someone ruins the story for you. The story is as fantastic as the technology which makes this the greatest SciFi to date.

Special effects were good -- not astonishing -- and 3D not necessary. Plot was more than predictable. Should we call this "A Spaceman Called Horse"? I've seen the westerns ("Assemble the Sioux nations!"); I've read the books. Heck, even some machinery was (borrowed?) from video games. Better than Starship Troopers (Well, so were the films from my daughter's bat mitzvah) but so very not up to hype, reviews and expectations.

I have not been to the movies since James Cameron's last block buster, The Titanic. With all the hype and being shown in 3D I/we were compelled to go and we were not disappointed. With surround sound and 3D combined you get the sensation of being right in the action, It was great!
If movies continue to be made in this fashion I will be going to a lot more movies.

i found this movie to be one of the most well done and exciting and entertaining movies i have seen in a long time. it is long overdue. the 3D effects were extremely well done and the story line kept everyone in the theatre on the edge of their seats. i loved this film and hope everyone who wants to see a truely great film gets the opportunity to do so. i'd like to thank all those involved in making the film as well.

Avatar (3D) is the best movie I have ever seen by far. The effects were so good that I forgot I was in the theater watching a movie. When the credits started showing I realized that I was not in Pandora and was rather dissappointed that I was on Earth instead. The storyline was incredible and I don't want to reveal any spoilers. Hopefully they release this movie on Blueray 3D if possible. I've bought like 3 movies in my lifetime and this movie will be the fourth. After watching this movie, I can honestly say that my life is now complete. The Avatar movie posters does the movie no justice. The blue girl just looks ridiculous and funny, but after watching the movie... I have the hots for her.

I just wish there were six stars, because this would be it. This movie has something for everyone. It has romance, nature, hand to hand combat, war, blood, tear jerker, one of the best graphics put out in a long long time and as far as i am concerned the total package movie. My husband usually gives a movie rating by how many times he fell asleep and i can definitely say he did not fall asleep once, not even a nod. I will be buying the dvd when it comes out, as my 14yo daughter said, blue ray will be best.

To all you people who say that this movie has been "done before" I think you may have been watching the wrong movie...Avatar is absolutely amazing not just because of the PHENOMENAL CGI but the time they took just to show the beauty of the planet. The first half of the movie is dedecated to showing the wonderful way of life embraced by those on Pandora and then an exciting, and equally beautiful, action scene follows up at the end. Wonderful plot, wonderful characters, BEAUTIFUL planet. I can't stress enough how much I loved this movie-- I've seen it twice and it was better the second time. See it in 3d and do it now! First 3D movie I've ever seen, and I was extremely satisfied. I don't even like action movies, and I loved Avatar.

I thought the movie was all that everyone has said it to be. The graphics were amazing, and the 3D was cool. I just wished they'd put more clothes on the Alien women. I didn't like having to see nude alien women the whole movie. I guess S-e-x sells in Hollywood eh? Wish it didn't.

A little sappy of a love line and a bit predictable. The obvious political message didnt need to be smacked in our face as often as it was. When I need political idiology forced on me I'll watch Fox or MSNBC.
The movie is beautiful. The Avatar and Driver idea was fresh and whimsical. A perfect mechanism to do a lot of fun things with the story. I have 11 year old and 15 year old. I did not have much or any issues with the content. The film brings up questions about faith and god(s) . I dont shy away from talking about it with my family. Only makes us understand our faith better. BTW you need to see this in 3D. A must see in the theatres. Home viewing will not do it justice
