Fine effects but so formulaic

Special effects were good -- not astonishing -- and 3D not necessary. Plot was more than predictable. Should we call this "A Spaceman Called Horse"? I've seen the westerns ("Assemble the Sioux nations!"); I've read the books. Heck, even some machinery was (borrowed?) from video games. Better than Starship Troopers (Well, so were the films from my daughter's bat mitzvah) but so very not up to hype, reviews and expectations.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
