After deciding not to see Avatar we were convinced, after hearing such rave reviews, to try it for ourselves. Completely blown away by the story and the effects! A wonderful love story among war and destruction. The 3D effects were incredible.

This was a great movie in 3D. The actors and story were terrific and the special effects were beautiful and intriguing. I thought the whole movie was creative and interesting, even though it was 2 hours 40 minutes. I loved the analogies made to our past and present world that were a part of the movie. This is the best movie ever. The 3D is what we have all have expected from other movies but were always dissapointed. The number one reason I liked this movie is I felt myself relax in a way I can't actually explain.It was a sort of a coming home feeling. There is alot to be fearful of and alot of action but during certain parts you will simply smile and relax. You will understand after you see it. I can't wait to go see it again.

I was totally engrossed by this movie! Amazing film with a deeply moving theme. I was moved to tears by the end. Fantastic! Will win an Oscar no doubt. 3D effects worth every minute of wearing the glasses that I hardly noticed after the first minute of the movie. Highly recommended.

I have seen this movie twice. First time I saw it in regular mode. Second in 3-D. If I see it again it would be in 3-D. Tastefully done w/out cheap tricks for the 3-D effect. It was a lot more indepth looking which allowed you to be part of the movie w/out something coming at you all the time. It deserved an acadamy award for best picture!

I saw Avatar for the first time Dec. 28. I was overwhelmed by the quality of the effects and the story line. But last night, I wanted to share the experience and saw it in 3 D. This was outstanding. The effects which were incredible the first time where outstanding in 3 D. I have to admit it took some getting used to and I had to look away a few times, if you get vertigo easily be prepared because there are a few scenes that will leave you weak in the knees. It was a wild ride the second time...and I may break my personal record and see it a third time, but in IMAX!

I liked this movie better when it was called "Dances with wolves". The recycled story line was what bothered me the most, but the animation of the natives was pretty uninspired as well. The 3D was annoying for the most part, but there were instances that it was impressive. I came out of the movie wondering what was wrong with me that I didn't enjoy this movie when everyone else loved it. In the end I decided that it was okay not to be in line with everyone elses view.

I never see movies in the theaters and I have already seen this one twice. See it in 3D at the IMAX. This movie is an experience unto itself. The cinematography and CGI are breathtaking. The story is beautiful. Upon watching it the second you see things (of course) which you missed the first time, making the meaning of the story that much deeper. Please watch this movie, this is an experience you will regret missing in the theater!

I liked the movie because:
1) great special effects and 3D
2) I enjoyed Navi characters which seemed to be very intelligent, yet have a purity and raw animalism about them - especially the main female character.
3) Some great adventure.
What I didn't like:
1) It was too predictable - that Jake would eventually find that the "greedy" humans were on the wrong side and he would be converted to become a "pure" Navi.
2) The not so subtle new age messages.. mother earth goddess tree, we are one with nature, the pure utopia that could be obtained if we change our ways..

This is definitely one of the best films I've ever seen. The effects were out of this world, the plot was interesting, and you get pulled into the amazing world of Pandora. Great visuals. 3D effects were not overdone and became organic to the story once the initial distraction wore off. Story-wise, Cameron is too simplistic - military = bad, natives = good; technology = bad, nature = good; corporations = bad, tribalism = good. I am disturbed to see the anti-military message when we are at war; it goes against the general recognition that we support our troops even if we disagree with the war. Cameron makes virtually all the troops look like blood-thirsty cowboys. The early disclaimer that they are mercenaries gets lost along the way and is never reinforced so it easy to draw the conclusion that the movie is a knock on troops as well as decision makers. All that said, was I entertained? You bet!

Avatar was as advertised; entertaining and stunning. The visual graphics were state-of-the art (Myst on steroids) and the plot was fun to watch. Not much in the way of twists and turns and not much character development, but entertaining nonetheless. On the social side, I was somewhat embarrassed that I was participating in the $1B spending spree that is helping some people get filthy rich while millions in this world still die of starvation; ironic given the plot of the movie, but I guess that's life in 21st century America.

A very enjoyable movie---creative filmmaking and exploring the juxtaposition of a beautiful natural world filled with caring people, and the ugliness of destruction, greed and violence---a metaphor for the conundrum of the human race. Inspiring visually, fun and funky to wear the 3d glasses, a long movie but enjoyable, great soundtrack----great entertainment overall.

Beautiful movie, the 3D helped with the immersion. There wasn't a moment while watching this film that I remembered that CGI was used - it looked very convincing. I only have two minor complaints. Aside from the main character, not one other character seemed to be two-dimensional. No one else seemed to really intrigue or interest me. Also, it's hard for a story to not be predictable in this day and age, but I do like a surprise here and there. Aside from those points, this was a very fun and exciting adventure.

With all the hype regarding this movie, I actually expected a little mor. While I liked the movie , I did not love the movie. The colors and plot of the show were brilliant, but the length was a bit too long. The theme is depressing and made me think about the US involvement in other countries for our own profit. I'll wait for the release on dvd before I see it again

I found this movie to be extremely provocative and moving. Yes, the 3D was fun and the images were beautiful. However, the message is so strong that we need to take care of our living breathing earth and get the greed out of our government.
