I dragged my wife to this movie, and she is not a SF fan. The videography is nauseating, I had to close my eyes a few times to take a break so I would not feel sick. The plot line was better than reported, as was the acting, although the testosterone level was a bit over the top. Overall, wait for DVD, the effects (when I could watch them) are not so impressive that you have to watch on a big screen.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it! We went by ourselves but it was entertaining even for adults.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Avatar was as advertised; entertaining and stunning. The visual graphics were state-of-the art (Myst on steroids) and the plot was fun to watch. Not much in the way of twists and turns and not much character development, but entertaining nonetheless. On the social side, I was somewhat embarrassed that I was participating in the $1B spending spree that is helping some people get filthy rich while millions in this world still die of starvation; ironic given the plot of the movie, but I guess that's life in 21st century America.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
