What an experience! True, this is a version of the classic theme of good vs evil, but so wonderfully and masterfully done! The special effects, plus the amount of native american symbolism and cultural references woven into this movie as well as the fact that for a change the "natives" are the heros instead of the villians made this a truly wonderful experience!!!

I am not a SciFi lover, but I certainly enjoyed this movie. The effects are fantasic. The movie was a little long but well worth the time. 3D was okay, not as much as I had anticipated there would be but very good all the same.

This is by far the best film I have ever seen! I have never experienced the 3D glasses and this was like being in the movie itself. The beautiful flora and the trees were beyond imagination. The effects in this movie were awesome. Me, my wife, and 10 year son all saw the movie, and agreed that 2 1/2 hours went by fairly fast, and the action and scenerie were fantastic, but the story was fairly predictable with few twists. Would have liked to see more character building. Will I watch it when it comes out on DVD? Sure. Still great effects.

I am so NOT a science fiction kind of girl, but this movie was incredible! I forgot I was wearing my 3D glasses within the first few minutes of the movie! I really liked the story and its message. James Cameron is a mastermind !! Every detail of this movie was second to none. I have seen 3D movies before with those annoying glasses, however I couldnt even imagine not having them for this film, the 3D was spectacular !! My first reaction to seeing a movie that was 2 hr and 40 min was NO WAY, until we got to the end I wanted it to just keep going, this movie only felt like a 45 minute movie because you are on the edge of you seat the entire time !! Yes, the special effects were amazing but I couldn't get past the preachy attitude the entire plot tried to cram down my throat...
The synopsis: Industry bad. Military bloodthirsty. Indiginous peoples naive but pure. Only one who could save them was the conflicted white man. Thank goodness he came along to save their butts (insert sarcasm here). Oh and I forgot - the planet is alive and must be worshipped. Musn't let big bad industry mess up the planet. The only answer is no industry at all.
Obviously, I was not impressed. The scenery and animals were well done and very imaginative, but not enough to make up for the liberal agenda preached throughout the entire movie.

Although the 3-D was somewhat cool, it was an utterly predictable story lacking any originality at all with acting that was marginal at best. It was a not-so-thinly veiled allegory, with an environmentalist, "humans, the military, and corporations are bad" background. The Na'vi looked suspiciously like the native Martians from Futurama who spoke, dressed, and had somehow developed a culture remarkably similar to that of native Americans. The Dragon Riders of Pern and Starship Troopers (the book) were blatantly ripped off. James Cameron should be embarrassed. The only way I can understand people becoming depressed after seeing this movie is beacause they wasted time and money on it. I'd rather clip my toe-nails.

The 3D visuals were awesome, and overall the movie was good. However, it bugged me how many political comments there were. It seemed like Cameron went out of his way to pick current political fodder and weave it shamelessly into the movie. Most of it looked like Bush bashing. I really thought the movie was great up until the comments about "attacking the terrorists before they attack us" and "preemptive strike", "shock and awe" and "bunker buster bombs". Not too mention making the military look like morons and sadistic killers, and the poor indigenous people having their land and natural resources (oil?) taken from them by the big bad military and corporations. Why can't Hollywood just stick to making movies and leaving politics out of it?

Wow, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie! It far excededed my expectations! Great story, and the 3D graphics and special effects were spectacular -- I'm comfident it will set the bar at a new high for future movies to strive to achieve! OK so I have read them to....awesome....best movie ever......blah blah blah. But seriously an excellent movie. The Muvico experience made it even better, reserved seats dead center, clean theater, comfortable seats, friendly staff, easy ordering online......two thumbs up. Next week the legion, Woo-Hoo!

Finally got a chance to see Avatar and wasn't disappointed. When we left the theater I felt as if I had just been on an "E" ticket "ride" - the movie is excellent. The story line kept us interested from start to finish, the visual effects were so good we found ourselves reacting automatically along the way with comments and smiles and the actors get a big "thumbs up"!! Loved this one!!

Wasn't anxious to see this movie, not a fan of sci-fi or fantasy type movies, but this movie was so awesome and the 3D just made it so much fun! i will definitely recommend this movie 100% to all my friends and family. It sucks you in and keeps you captivated all the way through.

Our group ranged in age from 10 to 48 and we all enjoyed viewing this movie. We would recomend getting to the theater early so you can get a seat in the back - the 3D veiwing is better there.
