For those who have read Ayn Rand's books, in particular "Shrugged", this is an amazing effort. All the ideas and messages are there, but presented in a wholly different art form. Shrugged is a fundamental piece in understanding what is going on in America today. The film is faithful to the book and the actors bring it to life in an incredible way. I found myself a bit emotional knowing the story and now feeling, in a different way, what the characters were experiencing. Perhaps the best compliment I can make about this movie is that, unlike most movies made from books, this is an invaluable adjunct to the vital story Ayn Rand told in her book. It creates a different visualization of the same message that is timely and even more urgent. The book and the movie are partners in telling the scary story of how American progressivism leads to a dystopia. A few years ago, the consequences of our greed, corruption, overspending and political ineptitude were hard to imagine. Today, you can watch Shrugged the movie and go home to see the rest of the story on the evening news. If I had my way, every high school senior would be required to read the book, see the movie and then be forced to watch the evening news - carefully!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

best movie i've seen in many years. a step forward in the art. 3d is great but not a conscious factor - it just becomes part of the show. the story is strong and the acting super. i don't know how they created all that animation, but it is terrific.
