Although this was a pretty long movie, there was never a dull moment. The visual effects were totally awesome. The whole 3D experience took this film to a level most films don't achieve. I saw this in a regular theater. Next time I see this I've gotta do IMAX.

Seeing the special on how the movie was made did nothing to diminish the mind-blowing effects of watching this movie. I hate heights, but the 3-D height effects did not bother me bit. I was totally wrapped up in the storyline. Incredible job !

If you like to getaway and relax, this is the movie to escape into a wonderful fantasy dreamland! There are so many new creatures to see not the same old humdrum ones in other movies.The new creatures and plant life are sheer joy to experience.This 3-D movie experience is like you are actually there with those lovely human like beings.Showing us that they had a love and care for their world like we should've had for ours.This movie could teach our human race a thing or two. I was not sure what to expect when I went to see this movie with 2 eight year-olds boys, but I was very pleasantly surprised. There was much hype around it, and I normally do not go for the big blockbuster type of flicks with all the bells and whistles, but I really enjoyed it. My son and his friend were glued to their seats, which is not the norm, and they were able to sit for the almost 3 hour running time. Highly recommend it.

Very good movie! Story line isn't new though, bad guy who's basically good changes sides. After living with what thought were the enemy, he finds he likes their way of life better and fights of his old colleges when the battle begins. Modern twist on Dances with Wolves! Visual affects were stunning, well worth seeing.

Joyce M. Cox and her company (producers of the visual effects) deserve the highest honors. I have not been to a movie theater in over 3 years and I was so visually impressed....I am going for the IMAX experience next. The story was heart-wrenching. I agree, after an hour, you really did not care about the 3D...the colors on the screen had be glued to it. Even without a good story....the movie experience was spectacular.

I was apprehensive in going to this movie as I'd heard so many mixed reviews. But I was absolutely blown away from the moment it started until the credits rolled. I didn't want to leave. What an incredibly beautiful movie! I'm not usually into sci-fi-ish movies but this is definitely an exception. Fantasy meets love story meets fascinating 3-D imagery. Definitely a must see!

I don't think a quarter of a billion dollars could buy a much-more visually impressive film. The screenplay couldn't be more cliche, but it doesn't matter much. It works. In my opinion, the 3D effects matter less and less as the film goes on. Ultimately you stop seeing the 3D. I am sure I will enjoy this in 2D as well. A good movie remains a good movie no matter how you watch it. I am downgrading my rating to 4.5 out of 5, however because of the script.

I normally prefer movies with real people rather than computer generated performers but this was a terriffic mix. The story was great, the acting superb, the message profound, the scenery and photography spectacular. The staging was very complex with a lot of imagination. Clearly an Oscar waiting for Mr. Cameron. I have seen lots of the candidates and this is a shoe in. People told me to see it in IMAX but it was sold out. I think I will go back for the IMAX experience. Great Show!

Perhaps it is b/c my expectations were so high from hearing all of the hype, but Avatar 3-D was 'good', not amazing. The story was oh so predictable, the special effects were pretty incredible. In a groundbreaking special effects movie, the plot doesn't really matter - think about the first Matrix movie. The characters are engaging and the plot is satisfactory, but the Real 3D is the real deal and the reason to go to the show. Phenomenal!

2nd time seeing it. Actually bought wrong tickets, wanted IMAX not just 3D so was a little dissapoited when we got there..but this 3D was much better than the first theatre we saw it at. It is an incredible movie and we are going to see it in IMAX next week. Could watch this movie over and over. I want to be blue and live on Pandora!!!

Any movie like this.. ever .. should be in 3d from now on..period. it was friggin amazing. i feel bad for those who get sick or can't see the 3d very well because it is really truly stunning, this movie especially. Imax definately is awesome but the regualr theater is more than adequate so don't feel liek you need to hold out. I loved this movie overall. The plot was mediocre but it had the elements any good movie needs. A guy you hate, a guy you like eetc. Must see if your any kind of 3D fan.

Really! James Cameron breathed so much life into even the simplest life-forms on his alien planet. Great message-all life is connected. Explosive colors; the flying-WOW! Planning on seeing this one again; so much to see-2hrs.40mins. was not enough! Enjoyed this so much!
