I enjoyed the movie, I liked the CG, some parts of it looked a little comic bookish. The plot was decent and overall the movie is entertaining. I wouldn't reccomend this to every one I know. I would definatly want to see it in the theater if you plan on seeing it.

All movies are predictable in basic format, Evil is bad and good prevails. But to see a movie and actually feel you are looking into a window to another world and not a flat white screen makes this a must see! The typical "reach out and grab you" effects are replaced with depth and a feeling that you are looking into the screen. A few effects are designed to pop out at you but the focus is to draw you into the world, not force the world out to you. Go see it. two hours and forty minutes went by like minutes and for the first time since "Star wars" I plan on going to see a movie several times.

This truly was the best movie I have ever seen based on story line and technological cinematography. I took my three and a half year old daughter to see the movie on opening day for the first showing at a "TRUE" IMAX theater at the Mall of Georgia. She was engaged the entire time and almost fell out of her seat on several occasions attempting to grab and reach for objects in front of her. She wanted to go back the next day so I took her to a closer, "IMAX Experience" theater. Not quite the same. The movie was filmed in 70mm and that's how it has to be projected. Anything smaller and the effect is greatly dimished, not terribly but it certainly doesn't blow your mind like a 23X30 meter screen setting!

Loved the special effects, the technology and photography. Characters and animation were so realistic, it was difficult to think of them as being less than real. Spectacular film with a great message. Would recommend to all ages. Children (and adults) in audience were speechless throughout entire film.

I took a group of 7 twelve year olds out for a birthday party to see the 3-D version and they loved it. It was an excellent movie for that age group. Lots of action and great story line. It made the 2hrs and 40minutes fly by!

James Cameron royally wasted a lot of money.
Avatar is visually stunning... but the storyline is the same, boring, retread "corporate greed versus the environment" we've seen in countless other movies.
Quite literally, I predicted almost all of the plot twists and turns about 15 minutes into the movie... and all I knew about the movie was reading Cameron's Playboy interview. (Never saw the 15-minute trailer or read a single review before going to see it - so as to keep as open mind as possible.)
Now, not only would I like a refund, but I want Cameron to invent time travel to give me back my three hours!
AAAARRRGGGGHHH!
This one isn't even worth waiting for it to come out to Red Box!

I was skeptical because of all the hype. I couldn't have been more wrong. The 3-D (in "Real-D 3-D") is breathtaking. Do yourself a favor and find a Real-D 3-D theater. No more silly red and blue paper sunglasses. The story is simple, to the point, and easy to follow. This film seems to be more geared toward a younger audience than any of Cameron's other films. My kids (8, 11) and I went to see the movie last night. First, I was nervous a little that there might be too much violence or bad words but surprisingly this movie was more "fairytaley" then violent. The concept of the movie is so amazing.. the way these aliens connect to everything.. and watching the whole thing in 3 D made me think I was right there in the movie. The made up characters were amazing.. the human acting not soo much.. sometimes i got the vibe.. oh yeah they just acting but overall the movie was breathtaking.. the story, creativity, pictures, colors and sounds made it hands down the best movie I have ever seen.

From the first few frames until the last clip, it really HOLDS your interest. 3-D sure helps, but it is NOT essential. The story line is a "tried and true" one but that DOES NOT get in the way and at no time do you feel it's tacky or trite. The visual appeal is out of this world period! James Cameron understands how to make an epic movie. The plots may be somewhat predictable but why screw up a visual feast with a plot twist. Also, it's good to know that at least somebody tries to do modern science fiction who has at least read some science. As for the look of the film, there was not a moment when I did not believe I was looking at real characters. No Jar Jar Binks in this film.

Was the Best movie experience I have had ever. The 3D was my first and added to the movie effects with great accents. Thought I was inside the movie myself. As the movie began I thought it would be yet again another - white man saves the natives from the attack of manifest destiny. The special effects, development of the characters, were all great. What made it the 'must see movie of the year' for me was how the story developed and evolved. Want to know how it ends? Buy a ticket, go see this movie. It's worth it, I promise.
