I really enjoyed this movie. Great production! Although it was 2 hours and 40 minutes but it was worth spending the time and the money. This movie needs to be watched on a big creen and of course 3D to feel it. Highly recommend.

I have been looking forward to this movie along with my eleven year old sci-fi loving daughter. After reading all of the great reviews on Friday and Saturday I thought there would be no way Avatar could live up to my expectations, but I was absolutely blown away and now am looking forward to seeing it again in the Imax format. My daughter has been walking around all day in a daze saying, "I Loved that movie!" A few reviews made the point that the plot was weak and predictable. The plot is one that we always love and the predictability is the type that every Cameron fan will love. Their was a touch of strong language that had me concerned for my daughter toward the start of the movie, but it settled in quite well and the time flew by.

Awesome!!! So much activity on the screen that I couldn't absorb it all. Action sequences seemed real with 3D enhancement. Gonna spend another $10 to watch this again. Get there early to get a good seat.

James Cameron has done it again. The camera work is incredible, the environment is astounding, and the characters are deep, flawed, and believable. You have to see this one in 3D. It's as if you're looking through a square cut out in the wall into another world, Pandora. It's not your typical gimmicky 3D movie. It truely is a masterpiece. Go, see it for your own eyes, and then you too will be leaving a review like this.

I did not attent this movie with any expectations other than to be entertained. I was completely surprised at the level of artistry that went into creating Pandora and the Navi. I think someone needed to check James Cameron on his screenwriting skills. Tons of plot holes and a pilfered theme makes for a film that leaves a lot to be desired. Also, the acting is pretty bad in a bunch of places, sometimes laughable.
With all that said, the effects are enough to make the movie worth watching, but only in theaters. I wouldn't even pay the $1 it costs to rent it from a RedBox on DVD because you lose out on the films redeeming qualities.
Final verdict. Go watch it, but don't expect an Oscar winner... or even a Golden Globe nominee.

The ONLY way i can see anyone giving this movie a bad review is if they were expecting it to be something it's not. As stories go, this is a pretty old one; the military is brought in to tame or get rid of the indigenous people. But the EXPERIENCE is nothing short of awesome. By using motion capture and the latest in computer generated imagery (CGI), Cameron is able to mix imaginary worlds with real actors in a way that up until now was pretty much limited to video games. Regarding the bad reviews I've seen here? I can't remember the last time I sat in a packed theater and the audience broke out in spontaneous applause as the credits rolled.

The effects for this movie are beyond anything I have ever seen or imagined. I remember sitting in the movie thinking "I'll never forget this." My girlfriend and I came out stunned, saying that we'll be talking about this one for years. The CGI is spectacular and the 3D creates an immersive experience. The imagination and research that went into creating the botany, geology, language, and culture of the aliens was awesome. The plot is good but could have used elaboration. Nonetheless, I would recommend this to anyone.

Very long, very entertaining, and very visually dazzling, Avatar ultimately doesn't have anything truly new to offer, at least not to anyone old enough to have seen any other James Cameron film in the theater. But the real genius here is in the small details, the strong casting, and the smart storytelling choices that keeps the cheese factor in control, the world and the characters (mostly) believable, and the journey memorable. Ultimately, Avatar proves that Dances With Wolves with a 12-foot blue facelift isn't a bad thing at all.

While this movie does set the new bar tor cgi usage and effects it forgets that acting is still essential and that facial expressions are key to delivering the emotion as are the words. It is still a good movie to see and you will have to lose your personal feelings for or against enslavement, genocide, disregard for others and a whole host of other feelings to enjoy the movie. This is also a play at tugging your strings about going green even though the planet is blue. You will feel like you've been brainwashed into believing that all you have to do is give up everything and get back to nature to feel free and at one with the universe. This is really an amazing movie that makes Hollywood on top of entertaining world. Even though things are cumulative concepts of matrix and alien sort of stories, overall things are understandable, much pretty and perfectly in place. Some things are reminding of European invasion against native americans and trying to wipe them out. I will give 4.6 out of 5 for this one.

This is best movie of my Life..I enjoyed this movie with my wife and is wonderfull expereince watching this movie. I really felt I am inside this new world Pandora and it is spectacular and the Graphics and settings are Awesome. I have no words..I really appreciate Cameron and his team..

This movie was utterly amazing! It took 3D to a whole new level!! The scenery was engaging, the characters were believable, the special effects were just astronomical!! I don't think my husband and I looked away from the screen for a minute! Shortly afterward, I consulted a review by one of my favorite and most trusted movie critics (Roger Ebert) and he mentioned that James Cameron had every right to call himself "King of the World". Well, after seeing this latest production of his, I must say that I second that emotion!

The plot was predictable, but the entertainment value comes from the presentation. Easily one of the best-LOOKING movies I've ever seen. The 3D effect makes this an experience not to be missed. This movie will become a technological benchmark against which all future movies will be judged. Simply amazing!!!
