This movie was incredible. You must see it in 3D. I do not usually rush out to see a sci-fi movie but despite my hesitations I completely enjoyed it. So what if it was a little recycled, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I thought it was a combination of Jurassic Park and Dances with Wolves. The SFX were totally believable. When dirt came at me in 3D, I put my food down out of reflex. I then immediately laughed at myself...it felt like you were right there! It is a MUST SEE IN 3D!!

Great use of computer generated animation and state of the art 3D technology to create a beatiful cinimagraphic experience that draws it's audience into a dream world that will awe the most imaginative of us. My only gripe with this movie is with the writing, in that the tragedy and triumph of the story should have been more emotionaly reved up to draw us in as strongly emotionaly as it did visually.

Great movei, highly recommend do the 3D, well worth it. I wasnt sure aht to expect but nice story, great acting and special effects tied together. The colors and blend of special effects and true life actors on the same screen are flawless. Very enjoyable, the time went past rapidly, never notices my watch.

The movie was fantastic. I do not think I have seen another movie that has had more depth. The plot was chalk full...and complete. One moment I was awe struck, the next scared. the next sad, the next excited, the next amazed. The rich spirituality of it is wonderous. Only now and again does a movie "try" at spirituality and...totally miss. And I have not even talked about the 3D! Is definately worth paying the crazy price for! You will not get that at home and you can not say that about most other movies! Which leads back to the depth....to really understand that we are all connected. We are all one.

Visually the movie was amazing and fun- 3s is very cool. But the movie was a total cliche. James Cameron clearly missed on this one. I saw bits of last of the mohicans, star wars, the new world... and plenty of hallmark moments with generic one liners- not original at all, totally relied on the special effects and computer imagery.

Outstanding in every way. I literally found myself completely suspending disbelief. The visuals and environments were so detailed and complete that I would forget that they were CG.
If you didn't get the plot then it's because you have no soul.
My only complaint is the 3D glasses got uncomfortable after 2 hours.

I admit, I went in to the theater with low expectations. I left feeling like I have watched the best movie I have ever seen. In fact, 750 characters is not nearly enough to describe this movie! This movie is one of the best ever made. Its breathtaking, awe-inspiring, action-packed, and heartwarming. The visuals: flawless and sets the new standard for 3D. And for a movie that lasts this long, and with so much happening on screen, you will not want to get up and run to the concession stand or the bathroom - so make sure you cover all the bases BEFORE the movie begins. Not a single person made an exit during the length of this movie in the showing I went to. No one wanted to leave.

I was absolutely blown away by the 3D and special effects of Avatar. The world is seamlessly created and breathtaking - at times when it switched back to the human scenes they struck me as mundane and boring and dimensionless. The plotline of the movie is predictable: high tech meets low tech; clash of cultures revealing the merits of the low tech and the heartless emptiness of the high tech that makes you root for the underdog. But the execution of the story and the visual impact of the movie were fantastically done. It was refreshing as well to finally see a science fiction movie that did justice to science fiction and the scope available in the genre. Kudos to all involved!

Wow! Fantastic imagery - there were times that the scenery was just so great just to watch float by, that I forgot most everything going on. The scenes meshed quite well between live action and computer animation.
Plot? Not nearly as strong as it could have been, that much is certain. The smaller kids would be bored to death.
The bleak reality that humans are willing to steal and kill for profit, and not have any conscience about it either is not much of a plot.
The end of the movie tumbles over the cliff of pseudo-reality altogether, making it appear as if the greedy humans won't come back after one simple battle?

I'm generally a fan of Cameron movies, but this one was toooo long, too flashy (with poor pacing of the tension necessary).. it's like he was so fascinated with his new world visually that he was off on the dramatic pacing [which he did brilliantly in Terminator, Aliens and even Titantic].. He did it much better than I could (or I'd be doing it) but it still had me checking my watch at about two hours in..Admittedly I still don't buy the 3D hype and am not a teenager..I hope it does well at the box office, if only so Cameron can keep making movies..
No, I do not recommend this movie.

As is his habit, James Cameron has produced a movie that touches the viewer on a number of levels.
The visuals are stunning. The CGI is cutting edge (especially the motion capture of the actors) . The story is enthralling enough that the length is not a detractor.
The 3D was a perfect addition to the movie. In other 3D movies I've seen, the director seems to go out of his/her way to remind you that you are watching 3D. Mr. Cameron used the 3D to put you inside the screen...either with flies buzzing about, or dust falling around you. Rarely do objects fly out at you.
Overall, a GREAT way to spend an evening.

This movie was incredible to say the least! I was ready to watch it again as soon as it was over. It left me wanting more. It was long at 2:40 but I think I could have had another 20-30 minutes without complaint. Another James Cameron masterpiece!

I went into this movie with high expectations given all the hype surrounding its release. The stunning visuals were incredible and the sense of immersion in the film was something I had never experienced before. The storyline was very engaging from the first minute and it never lets up for the entire movie...it totally didn't feel like nearly 3hrs! Far exceeded my expectations and I'd highly recommend everyone see it!
