Trailer misleading; users with ADHD will get bored

First off, the acting is where this movie shines. The actress portraying the mutant (Dren), is excellent - being mute, her character speaks with her eyes and its mesmerizing. The trailers were very misleading, so most moviegoers likely enter the theater expecting a runaway mutant on a spree killing. Not to give away the plot, but by movie's end, the body count stands at 3, with 2 of them being the "bad guys". And the creature at the heart of the movie is being shown from infancy to her adulthood, and the entire plot revolves around her life and upbringing, and the trailers only seem to show her in her aggressive states. It should be noted she only becomes aggressive when agitated by others or her life is threatened. Given her DNA makeup, she is more animal than human so she is prone to instinct, and what little human DNA she has is from, well, not the most mentally balanced family. Most moviegoers will miss this most important fact, and because everyone around me was expecting a mass murdering slasher flick, the psychology element of the story (from Freudian psychology to the psychology of bipolar mania) is totally ignored (and the plot does little to explain why this would be an important fact - I guess the writers expected most people would be smart enough to figure it out on their own).
Many of the negative reviews I have been reading are rather short and generally consist of "I was bored". These people obviously were lured in by the misleading trailer, and are not prone to watching movies for their intellectual or subplot artistry. And because they grew bored easily (and this shows in how short and uninspired their reviews are) I assume they only have ADHD.
In conclusion, go see this movie with no expectations that a lot of people are going to end up dead, and forget the menacing depiction the trailers make of Dren. So take the horror element out of it and don't even classify it as a horror film. If you prefer horror flicks, go see something else.
The movie is more along the lines of a sci-fi suspense flick. Think Species, circa 2010, with a more mentally stable and passive creature. Dren herself is not alien, but is in fact, a mixture of rabbit, human, ram, and other terrestrial (and at least one aquatic) creatures.
College educated and science loving movie goers will enjoy this film more and appreciate it more. A lot of the more intellectual material at the beginning of the film, explaining how Dren's predecessors (Fred and Ginger) came into being, is simply too involved for some to understand. The film tries to make Adrien Brody's character seem "cool" enough to appeal to a younger demographic that still sees nerds as punching bags by having him listen to edgy music while working in the lab, but ultimately, they fail to make him seem less nerdy. It doesn't help that he and Sarah Polley's character run a genetics lab whose acronym is NERD. Nor the fact that despite their obvious expansive minds it takes a long time for them to come up with a name for the main character, and they are so uninspired, they simply name her Dren, which is NERD spelled backwards. Despite those flaws, the acting alone will make this movie worth watching.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

You Will Never Look At Owls The Same Way Again

To be frank, short and simple, you'll only want to rent this one on DVD. Don't even buy it. The story basically boils down to aliens are really God and they don't mind playing around with us and causing paralysis. I'm serious. That's the plot. The characters have no development, and you don't really care if aliens take them away. You sometimes think it would be for the best, especially if that dumb sheriff would disappear. And the movie's biggest creep factor was the main character looks dead, and it was more creepy for me since she looked exactly like a former co-worker of mine (who always looked dead too).
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Not A Christmas Carol Rehash

Along with Avatar, this 3D movie sets a very high new standard - few hokey effects here - and the snow falling makes you feel 10 degrees colder! Not an old Christmas Carol rehash, this is one of Jim Carrey's better movies - too bad he's animated! And don't take children to this one - I have to admit the ghost of Christmas future scenes are extremely intense and very dark! The ghost of Christmas present is unapologetically portrayed, though not by name, as Jesus himself.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Trailer Previews Do Not Give This Movie Justice

I admit, I went in to the theater with low expectations. I left feeling like I have watched the best movie I have ever seen. In fact, 750 characters is not nearly enough to describe this movie! This movie is one of the best ever made. Its breathtaking, awe-inspiring, action-packed, and heartwarming. The visuals: flawless and sets the new standard for 3D. And for a movie that lasts this long, and with so much happening on screen, you will not want to get up and run to the concession stand or the bathroom - so make sure you cover all the bases BEFORE the movie begins. Not a single person made an exit during the length of this movie in the showing I went to. No one wanted to leave.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
