This was a movie I could see again and again. It had a lot of meanings behind it and seemed to speak about the way the world was before it was being destroyed. The only difference is this time the "savages" won and Mother Earth was able to stay green and balanced. I loved this movie and do recomned it to everyone.

The moment you put the 3D glasses on the viewer is transported to another world. This compliments the fact the the movie takes place in another world. The graphics are outstanding and the storyline is somewhat predictable but fits together nicely. Pay the extra for 3D!!

This movie is one of the best movies I have ever seen. I am glad that I opted to get the 3D experience. After the movie, grown men were talking about how many times they were on the verge of tears, and how much the story touched them. The graphics, the story, the characters makes it a must see 2x or maybe even 3x. And dont be cheap, pay the extra dollars and see it in 3D. Totally worth it !!!!!

While the ending was predictable, the special effects and 3-D imaging lived up to their hype. Rather than watching a movie, I felt as though I was actually in the background and experiencing the characters from a short distance. I haven't cared to watch 3-D movies before because they really felt 2-D with a few images popping off the screen. This was a completely different experience. Kudos to James Cameron for his vision.

Stunning visuals but re-tread story line. Having said that, the key point is that the movie makes you believe and empathize with computer generated characters.
Forget the suggested, political ideology. The themes are so over the top it is hard to get fired up about any political overtones. Take it for what it is - a summer blockbuster that breaks new ground. 3D was more subtle than I expected and was very effective.
I totally enjoyed it. Go see the movie.

3-D, motion-capture, computer graphics all blended phenomenally. There were many stretches where you really forgot that the critters you were seeing on-screen were not real. Watching the actors fly around on imaginary beasts was far more realistic than the quidditch sequences in Harry Potter movies, for example. It was worth seeing despite the simple-minded black-white plot that seemed to do its utmost to convince viewers that they were watching a battle between evil money-grubbing Republicans who never saw a tree they didn't want to kill and the compassionate, caring progressives dedicated to saving the planet.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Avatar's story is cliched, its main villain one dimensional, and some of the dialogue is laughably bad. And yet i haven't been this enthralled by a film in years. Its true, political undertones can be recognized, but they are just as easily ignored. At nearly 3 hours long, i was never bored and as the credits rolled I found myself disappointed there wasn't more to watch. Make no mistake: Avatar is a visual triumph. The tech may actually live up to its propaganda of changing cinema. This 3D is not about crazy objects popping out at you: its about depth. Depth that makes it less of a movie and more of an experience; a ride. See this movie, in 3D, and you will not be disappointed.

The 3D experience is much, much better than the attempts that were made back in the fifties. With in seconds you forget that you are watching a flat screen projection and almost immediately put yourself into the scene.
The story succeeds on several levels, although I thought the character development of the commanding officer and the corporate bully was a little overblown.
This was a story of greed, racism, and community told with technical extravagance. There was no subtlety in the colonel's character, but he did make the point the writers wanted.

An awesome movie. Sure it had hints of Dances with Wolves, Pocahantos (yes I said it), Last Sumarai, Matrix and other movies, but many movies have hints of others. The theme of going native is found in many movies because sometimes it feels right.
The ending was Hollywood but done well and not implausible like Last Samurai was.
Good acting, character development, story, and special effects. I don't think the movie was too long but the 1/2 hour of commercials in the theater before the movie was ridic.

Simply phenomenal display of moviemaking that blurs the lines between the real and surreal, man and computer.. To be engrossed and transported for two and a half hours without a second of distraction-- that's an accomplishmentt. Audience applauded at the end. Well deserved.

It's easy to see where all the money went that was spent on this movie. Those blue, 10 foot-tall Na'vi, their planet Pandora, and all the other visual wonders found there soaked up a lot of money. Well, I suppose you can't create an entire new civilization on the cheap. It was money well spent. Too bad they didn't spend a little more on the story, though. The actors all did theit jobs well. My favorite was Stephen Lang, playing GI Joe as Colonel Miles Quaritch. Lang was amazing, and should receive long-deserved widespread recognition for this role.

Avatar was an amazing experience. The world that was created was unbelieveable-and add the 3D- its like nothing you've ever seen.Although I found the beginning of the movie a little difficult to follow, (if a friend hadn't given a synopsis a few days prior to me seeing it, I would have been lost) it did improve. But as it moved along, I found it didnt matter- I was more taken in by the visual feast it provided. The ending was predictable.

Avatar deserves an Oscar for artistic direction. The evocation of Pandora as an exotic extraterrestrial environment is convincing, beautiful, & intellectually satisfying. The motion-capture technique is flawless too, but Peter Jackson already set that standard. The film's one true innovation is the extraordinary 3D effect. It'll transform moviemaking, like the shift from silent films to "talkies" & from black and white to color. Within a year or two every film will be 3-D, except for a handful using "flat mode" for artistic effect.
I plan to see Avatar again for its technical excellence ... but not because it moved me emotionally. The story-line of rapacious corporate thugs vs. noble savages has been done too many times before.
