The movie felt magical as we were transported to the gorgeous planet of Pandora. The inhabitants of Pandora were also very well created and developed and felt more "human" than the actual humans that were in the movie. Although the story was a bit predictable it was still very satisfying from beginning to end (at least for me).

James Cameron has created a breathtaking world in Avatar, especially when seen through the eyes of the Na'Vi and viewed in 3-D! A world of great beauty so in tune with itself that it reacts to even the slightest touch or footstep. Not all scenes held the magic of 3-D as well, but those that did were exceptionally well-done! I want to see the 'regular' version for comparison but would highly recommend the 3-D experience for anyone who has that option - it will be WELL worth your time! Forget the trailers and anything you've read - open your mind and SEE THIS FILM!

This is a remarkable technical achievement - motion-capture driven CG characters that are natural and expressive, in a richly-imagined forest and jungle environment. I found sitting in the front row center for the 3D version (we got to the theater late) a dizzying experience, but did better hiding off in a corner.
The story is completely predictable, the characters unmemorable except for the militaristic villain, who is thoroughly detestable. The situation deserves a much more complex and involved back story than it is given. See this film for the beauty, excitement, and action of the visuals, and don't bother to read the subtitles -- the dialog in the aliens' language is no better than that in English.

I went to this movie hoping to see some great special effects. This incredible movie was so much more than that. It is thought-provoking, visually stunning, action-packed, romantic, exciting and creative.
The concept of an distant planet where nature and its inhabitants are all literally connected is so relevant to our world's current state of affairs. Humans tend to have short memories, but I hope hundreds of millions of people see this movie and never forget it. If any movie could achieve the feat of challenging its viewers to think deeply and also blast its way into popular culture, it's Avatar. Simply Incredible. Go see it!

Perhaps the most important element in going to see any movie is how you feel after it is over. Was it worth the money? Was it a waste of time? Do you want to go see it again? Well, in the case of Avatar I can say I've already seen it twice now! When I go to a movie I want to be taken to another place. I want to lose myself in the dream presented to me and with Avatar I was totally taken. Movie critics seldom have any clue what the people want anymore. They still think this is an age where if the plot isn't strong enough or the acting isn't perfect then the movie is a flop. Well I say nay to them. Avatar was a breathtaking, interesting, perception-altering powerhouse. See it now on the big screen because it was fantastic.

Very good movie! Keeps your attention throughout. maybe a 5 min dull bit, i took a restroom break at that point. 3d was very subtle! But made it worth it. The glasses will fit over prescription lenses which is great, the paper ones always slip off.
Went with the whole fam ages ranging from 16-58 everyone enjoyed it!
Overall opinion FRIGGIN' AWESOME! :)

I remember seeing Titanic when it first came out and thought, "Wow, awesome effects and pretty decent movie overall".
Well, I'm saying the same thing about Avatar: "Awesome effects, and pretty decent movie overall".
It's absolutely worth seeing and worth the price of admission (which I don't feel is the case with many first-run movies).
I was very entertained by Avatar, and it was an enjoyable experience.

Fantastic visuals and sound, plus the 3d glasses/graphics never got annoying during the 2 hour 50 minute running time. The story has been told in various ways many, many times before and the characters were pretty standard Hollywood Heroes, Bad Guys, self-sacrificing martyrs, etc. That's my only complaint about this movie; you really have seen the story before, and that keeps me from feeling I saw something really ground-breaking. All sizzle, and no steak! I do recommend this movie, it just could've been even better.

Despite the very predictable story line and its politically correct undertone, it was one of the best films I’ve seen in a long time. The animation and special effects were great. I even enjoyed the 3-D effects. My wife, two college-aged daughters, and I watched the film together and we all enjoyed it, even the daughter that does not like Sci-Fi movies.

Some what of a weak story line. It 's been done before. sort of a Dancing with Wolves flair. However, the visuals are breath taking. This movie takes movie making to a completely new direction. The 3D is stunning! Clearly the bar has been raised by this film. 3 words EX-CEL-LENT!

There are many underling themes, all of which I've seen before. The big difference is they are wrapped in the most breathtaking visual experience I have ever had in a movie and the story is captivating. James Cameron has made this imaginary world and people (the Na'vi) easy to believe in and it contains the best 3D and CGI I have ever seen. After seeing this movie I'm convinced the most beautiful women in the Universe are blue skinned, 10 feet tall and have a tail. It's 240 minutes of pure entertainment!

The most creative, amazing, beautiful movie I've ever seen. James Cameron deserves every possible award. His genius is beyond genius, to conceive such a story with all the intricate details involved, to have and know the artists to put it all together is mind-boggling. I thought it was a little bit too long but other than that I would highly recommend this film to everyone. See it in IMAX 3D.
