I found that I really cared about the characters in this movie. I especially loved the ecological messages and the references to the energetic "one-ness" of us all. "I see you," may become the height of loving expression.

Best graphics I've seen and the best 3D presentation I've seen. All the elements are present for a really great movie... greed, jealously, love, & passion. This one goes up to place next to my favorite action film right next to Matrix. I highly recommend this film to anyone who wants to go on an ultimate adventure. Do the 3D version though. It is truly inspiring.

Avatar in 3D is a must see! Brilliant use of technology, excellent acting and great storyline... Every viewer seems to see the story of a different group of people (I thought it paralleled the story of the Dine (the Navajo)). Innovative effects. Engaging story. Loved the 3-D. But something was missing. Perhaps a bit too long on some of the scenes as if I was taking a tour of the planet. Story a bit predictable. I wanted to walk out and say, that was great! (like I did with District 9) but didn't. All in all, it provides a peak into the future of movie making but not worth standing in a long line to see.

I thought the movie itself was very good. The characters were well developed and the story was interesting. Neither I, my husband nor my 3 kids left the theater for a bathroom break and it was LONG! That said, I found the 3-D to be a bit much. I would suggest seeing it in 2-D to keep the action from getting to you.

The most impressive thing about Avatar is how it looks. James Cameron has developed a deep, lush world that is a beauty to behold. What is not deep is the story in the film. The characters are little more than stereotypes. I was entertained by Avatar, but I wished Cameron had spent as much time on his script as he did the look of the film. That being said it is worth checking out in 3D. Instead of overwhelming you with stuff flying off the screen, the 3D is used to place you in the lush world of Pandora. If anything it will be interesting to see if other directors adopt the special cameras that Cameron used to shoot this movie. The result could be a change in the way we see movies.

I insisted we go as a gift to mom...for Christmas. Near the end, my 12 year old son leans over and whispers in my ear, "Mom, this was well worth all the money they spent...and the money you spent on the tickets." My husband and I walked out knowing we would recommend "Avatar" to all our friends and family. "Avatar" is a wonderful movie with dramatic effects that were to say the least...believable. You are absolutely immersed in their world.

Great especial effects for this reason is a must see movie. As for the plot .. well same old stuff boy meets girl, boy fells in love with girl no memorable scenes with the characters although it does manage to keep you entertaine for 2 hrs +.

Avatar doesn't live up to the great story-telling of Titanic, the Alien franchise, or The Abyss. It is very predictable story-telling.
But CGI and 3D are at a whole new level. Instead of the usual, BAM, and in your face 3D, the use of three-dimensions actually adds more depth and texture to the visual elements of movie-going. We're one step closer to Star Trek: The Next Generation's Holodeck.
The movie was twenty minutes too long, but it wasn't boring. Whatever you do, SEE IT IN 3D OR IMAX 3D. 2D will disappoint.

Now people are beginning to pick this movie apart for all sorts of reasons, but that's nothing new. For me, personally, AVATAR was everything I was hoping for and more. Since Peter Jackson and Andy Serkis created the first TRUE motion capture performance with Gollum, the technology has finally come of age. Movies are supposed to have the ability to take you places you have never been and show you worlds and characters the likes of which you've never seen for two hours, and in this respect, AVATAR hits it out of the park. I'm looking forward to seeing it a second time.

I could be cynical and say this movie is Star Wars meets Dances with Wolves and Pocahontas but inspite of that these are messages that MUST be heard again until we get it. The parallels to the present are disturbingly obvious. Good acting especially the blue versions and spectacular special effects. The intensity carried the 160 minutes and the packed audience applauled at the end.

An epic of epic proportions!! The story itself was nothing unusual but the message was fabulous. The special effects, the action, and the excitement made this movie one of the best of 2009. The 2 hrs and 40 mins. flew by .......James Cameron....my hats off to you!!

I enjoyed it. The story was a bit predictable, but not overbearing. The effects were VERY well done, and never stood out as "Look at me!" The 3D was good, not overdone, and didn't give as bad a headache as normal.
One glaring error throughout, though. You cannot fire a bow with your fingers on the same side as the arrow. Although Cameron would never get away with showing people constantly firing pistols with no clips in them, he gets away with this because people don't know archery any more.
Of course, it won't matter to most people, but it's another example of "Oh, well, it looks cool, and no one will know the difference." That's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.

This is nothing but an anti-capitalist, anti-military, new-age, tree hugging, socialist propaganda film wrapped in nice visuals. Totally predictable.
