Solid visuals, mediocre story

The most impressive thing about Avatar is how it looks. James Cameron has developed a deep, lush world that is a beauty to behold. What is not deep is the story in the film. The characters are little more than stereotypes. I was entertained by Avatar, but I wished Cameron had spent as much time on his script as he did the look of the film. That being said it is worth checking out in 3D. Instead of overwhelming you with stuff flying off the screen, the 3D is used to place you in the lush world of Pandora. If anything it will be interesting to see if other directors adopt the special cameras that Cameron used to shoot this movie. The result could be a change in the way we see movies.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
