I enjoy outrageous stories with colorful video, especially where there are no shades of gray. The bad guys are really bad and the good ones are good. And I especially like it when the whole gang gets it. But my favorite part of the whole movie was when school bullies tried to hit the little heroine up for lunch money. I still chuckle when I think about it.

I am into many types of comic oriented movies but I was really surprised by this one. In a good way though. When I first heard about it I was just thinking it was going to be some funny comedy but it does have a pretty good story behind it and I really wouldn’t think of it as a comedy either. I would call it more of an action movie with bits of comedic action here and there. The acting of Nicholas Cage paired with Chloe Grade Moretz was well done. I would say Chloe really steals the show in her role as Hit Girl. There were times in the movie that I felt like cheering, crying and wanting to jump at the screen in anger.
All in all I feel “Kick Ass” is a fun, action oriented movie that will draw people into the story as it developments throughout the movie.

I was out-voted by me wife and two 17 year old daughters, and was unwillingly dragged to watch this movie. I thought I was going to absolutley hate it. I was pleasantly surprised. In fact, I loved the movie. It has great one-liners, great action, and even some drama. I absolutely loved Hit-girl. She definately stole the show. Yeah, she used some choice words, and she is cold blooded. You have to remember what your watching. I will watch it again and even buy the movie when it comes out. It was totally entertaining.

The people who are complaining about the 11 year old girl cussing are missing the point.
The point is not about her cussing it is about parenting. Cage's character is a very bad parent who should be locked up.
He raised a little girl with no regards to her language, no regard for human life. Her turned her into nothing more than a really cute vicious attack dog with no more concept of morality than a doberman pinscher.
Don't get upset about her language, get upset and worried that kids today are becoming disturbingly too close to what she became.

Saw it last night with my girlfriend. We both had a hard time staying awake by the time the end got there. Don't me wrong, I laughed and I definitely didn't hate the movie. I was half-expecting this movie to suck - a la "Superhero Movie" because with few exceptions, independent comic book movies (and even a few of the mainstream ones) have sucked worse than my ex.
But aside from a few sub-plot and name changes from the original Millar graphic novel, Kick-Ass leaps from the page to the screen almost flawlessly. There's action, humor, insight, and ... let's face it ... where else can you see an 11-year-old girl beat the living daylights out of a room full of heavily armed mafia goons?
Special kudos are due to Nicholas Cage and his brilliant homage to the speech patterns of a certain pudgy 1960s Caped Crusader.
In all, I'm anxious to see Kick-Ass again, will most assuredly buy the DVD, and am itching in my seat over the wide-open set up for a sequel.
UPS: Staying true to the comic, brilliant fight scenes, excellent choreography, and great pacing.
DOWNS: The self-righteous public "outrage" that will ensure over an 11-year-old girl getting beaten senseless on screen, and of the same 11-year-old's use of the C-word. Oh, and ... what ... no nude scene with Lyndsy Fonseca? Have you forgotten your core fanboy audience?

I was impressed with the smartness of this movie compared with other comedy for the 18 -35 age group. Where it was derivative, it was intelligently so. Moretz stole the movie but everybody was good y . On a comparison, it was what Warren Beatty’s Dick Tracy should have been and put all the Bat and Supermans to shame and kinda gives Spidey a timid sense. Inglorious Bastards at the comics.

I have to agree with the title. Kick-Ass was in fact Kick ASS!!! The moments when you wanted to see the leading role take to the gusto and strike up the action he did! When you didn't expect the movie to get more intense it DID! It was heart fealt, entertaining, funny, intense, and just plain awesome.
I think the villains could've been developed further. I didn't really hate the villain and the RedMist character didn't come off to me as some sort of scott evil. The ending isn't suprising and there just happens to be a time when the action does meet its limit, but luckily its not till the end of the flick ;).
I'd highly recommend the movie to anyone over 18 who really likes a "fun" action flick. Think Rush Hour with a bigger, better budget and overhauled production cast and crew

I was expecting a stupid kind of dragging spoofish super-hero movie, but was almost completely floored. This move holds it's own with today's super-hero craze. True, it starts a little slow. But, the story is there, the soundtrack is great, and the action was engaging and not overdone. Chloe Moretz stole every scene, what a little gem. I left the theater feeling great and a little disappointed at how long I'm gonna have to wait until I can get the DVD.

This movie was good and bad in its own ways. I first would like to point out that YES, this is an R Rated film. Yes, this is based off a graphic comic book. And yes, there is a lot of violence and an underage child swearing. But these are things that you are to expect from a comic book movie. Look at how the Dark Knight was... that movie didn't have cussing but I know a lot of parents who wouldn't let their kids into it. I just find it funny that a "movie critic" would be surprised at what was in this film. If you've seen the red band trailer online, then you would've known there would be a child swearing. I think people who are offended by this movie need to start doing their research before they go to the theater... especially if they're going to leave a biased review. I've KNOWN about the contents of this film on the fact that the red band trailer has been out for the past 8 months or so and in it, Hit Girl does cuss. Not to mention I've followed the comic book so I knew what to expect. This movie is definitely not one to take the kids to. But as far as a comic-to-movie adaptation goes, this film was top notch. The pacing was good, it had it's funny moments, and despite all the cursing and violence it has a good moral to the story. No, not that killing the bad guys is good. But that you have to help your fellow man. But you don't have to wear a mask to do it.
If you're gonna go watch it, PLEASE go with an open mind and the above things noted. If you're put off by anything I've said, don't go see it. But if you want to watch a very well put together comic book movie, this will be an entertaining one for you.

This is not a movie for the kids. That being said I thought it was one of the best movies I have seen in a while. Seeing Chloe Moretz deliver lines like C__ M__F___ers was laugh out loud hilarious. I totally hated this movie. It had a child saying "c___, m-f----, etc." had the big lock cutter cutting off a finger, big swords going through the chests of men . . . more violence than Saving Private Ryan! I was offended, outraged. Someone should be put in jail for involving an under-aged child in such criminal and foul behavior. I felt dirty and disgusted after seeing this movie. Nick Cage should be ashamed as well as the other actors. This is the last Matthew Vaughn film I ever view. (And I am an active moviegoer.) To hell with the lot of them!

The name of the movie says it all, as does the rating (R). I liked the movie, kept me entertained and tried to pull you through the spectrum of emotions, that is the only lacking part. KA is easily good enough to see. Am askanced that the star isn't old enuf to see this flick. (They didn't show if tykie had any tatoos, tho. (If a kid has tatoos they should get in here.))
My impression of KA is that it is a modern, funny, super-stock Dirty Harry. A bit off the deep end in a few places -- when you have to stop and wonder if you have ever seen that before.
However I felt it is all in good fun. KA is better than any comic book I have read. Enjoy....

Everything about this movie spells fun. Its a true comic book with both humor and action. The cast is good and the directing takes this way beyond what you see in the previews. There are many surprises which keeps you from feeling like you know what's coming. Its fun. Its fast. Its light. Its bold. But be warned, there's lots of strong language so think twice about bringing little kids!

This could have been a very good movie if not for the language. Call me old fasion but I am not use to children talking to their parents like the ones in this film. I am a christian and I feel Hollywood has gotten out of control with the sex and language.

While I expected this movie to be movie. I did not the action to on par with likes of Spider-Man and Raiders of the Lost Ark. The story is told in such a way that while your laughing one minute you are cheering for the characters in the next minute. Nicolas Cage was surprisingly deep in his role of big daddy. His best role to date. This was the only movie I wanted to see this past weekend.

WOW!! FIRST OF ALL I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES FOR THE SPRING! THIS IS AMERICAN PIE MEETS KILL BILL. AT FIRST WHEN I SAW THE MOVIE I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE STUPID... Myself, I loved it. While it made me laugh out loud quite a lot, it was also much more realistic and serious than I expected. I really liked that in the end however. I'd expect after Watchman and Batman Returns a lot of folks are coming to expect it as well.
Don't take the kids!!!!
This was a good one to see in the theaters. The action scenes alone were worth it, and it was funny with an interesting plot to. It felt at times like two separate stories. They weaved together well despite this. If you like gritty hero deconstruction, you'll like this one.
