I keep hearing that it was true to Lewis Carroll but I don't think that it was, unless there is more to the mythos of Alice in Wonderland, other than the novel.
The story went a bit on it's own, but without giving anything away, it was supposed to.
As far as the world being imagined properly, it absolutely was.
The 3D effects weren't particularly dazzling in the 3D version, but it had its moments.
The thematic elements of the impossible and unimaginable being within reach with belief and dedication really struck home with me.

I was so excited for this movie to come out in theatres. The hype gave it the impression that it would be creepy and funny but it was neither. The 3-D effects were good but the story line was a little boring. I had a hard time understanding some of the things Johnny Depp was saying. The best part was the Chesire cat.

I thought this movie may have been too scary for 9 years olds, but I was wrong. The movie is not really scary at all. The independent development of the characters adds a much needed element to the Alice in Wonderland story. We enjoyed it very much. We stayed so entertained that the time flew by. I can't wait to see it again!

I guess I never really knew the whole Alice in Wonderland story, but I liked it a lot. I thought my kids (6 and 8) might be scared although they wanted to see it, but they were fine even with the Jabberwocky fight.

My whole family and I were REALLY looking forward to watching this much anticipated movie, and I am sad to say, it was disappointing. There is no explanation as to the appearance of the white queen, the way she moves around is weird, not regal, Alice's costumes were poorly designed and The Mad Hatter looks like MADONNA, makeup, gap teeth and all! I would've liked to have paid Matinee prices and not the extra for the 3-D in the evening - I wouldn't exactly call it a rental kind of movie, but Please, don't pay full price!

Saw the movie last night going back tonight it is that good. I talked about it all day with friends and family. I am going to the IMAX but reglar 3-d was really cool. Enjoyed the story and it wasn't as weird as I thought it would be. If you get a chance go see it.

Went to see this movie opening night in 3D after much anticipation. The 3D was very well done- much better than some others I have seen. However, it seemed that there was no plot in this film. The idea that it was Alice returning was nice, but that was the only bit of plot to be had, the rest of the film felt like a bunch of shorts put together. Worth seeing on the big screen for the 3D effects, but if you're watching it for the story, I would wait to rent it. Oh, and one last thing. The way the White Queen moved around in this movie was downright strange.

Not exactly what I thought it would be, going into the theater I thought it would be the same plot as in "Through the Looking Glass." I was, however, not disappointed. The story line was a refreshing deviation from the usual Alice in Wonderland. Did it live up to the hype? .... Yes. Watch it!!! The characters are a real laugh, and the star of the show was most definitely Helena Bonham Carter, exceptional indeed. A Disney movie fit for all ages, one of my favorites along with last year's "Up."

I am a HUGE fan of Alice in Wonderland and I loved this movie. I found the 3D effects added great depth to the scenes, but did not really add to the action factor. It was still excellent. I love Johnny Depp! I love Helena Bonham Carter! I love Alan Rickman! Wonderful storyline that did not alter the original storyline. The flashback scene was a great addition. Going into this film, as I try to do with every film, I put all the biases I have for any actor, director, studio, etc in the back burner and just enjoy the show. This time was no exception, and I have to admit, i was pleasantly surprised at how much fun this movie was to watch. Although we were stuck in the third row and in a sea of small children, I found myself laughing and smiling in amazement along with them.
As for the one major "flaw" critics saw with this film (the climactic battle scene) I do have to point out, that it didn't come as a surprise. You know it's coming, and when it does, it is completely enjoyable.
Go see this movie, leave your expectations in the car, and just enjoy a well made film.

I sometimes feel some of Tim Burton's work is a little to odd for me, but Alice In Wonderland was fantastic. I loved how the characters were portrayed and the special effects were amazing. Once again Johnny Depp's portrayal of an odd character was a huge highlight for me. I highly recommend this movie. It was a lot of fun.

This movie was different but good, I wouldn't say great but real good. The 3D was awesome. Johnny Depp, like always, was awesome. It was different from the original but what do we expect from Mr. Burton. Keep up the good work.

I absolutely loved it. My 4yrs old loved it. He said is a "cool movie" and wants the movie when it comes out...lol. My 9yr old daughter never got up to go to the bathroom once, when in other movies it always a must for her. It's a must see...totaly worth the money and distraction.

Wow! I don't know what was worse... the screaming baby, the non-stop talking teens or this movie. Lame - drink this, eat this but Do NOT watch this. Really wasn't that interesting.... Johnny Depp played his umpteenth 'quirky' character, Anne Hathaway thought she was in Enchanted & Alice was blah. Off with their heads!
