It was visually very good. Great costumes and makeup but I feel it was a little boring. I regret spending $42 to have 2 adults and one child see the show at the movies. I would recommend waiting for it to come out in video.

If you have the choice see it in 3D. The effects are wonderful. This movie was so dreamy and beautiful artistically...a little scary in spots...but isn't that part of the fun? (I remember being scared by the flying monkeys in The Wizard of Oz as a child but still loved that movie). Alice's moat crossing probably could have been left out of the movie...won't say anything more than that. Johnny Depp's character had me leave the theatre in tears...I had grown to really love him by the end of the movie. Fabulous movie. Don't miss it.

I will not say that it was a bad movie, but it definitively was lacking some spark. Having such an amazing cast best acting could be expected. The 3D appeal was just a decoy, it really isn't that impressive. You could get easily bored.

To be honest, I was prepared not to like Alice in Wonderland before I went. Classic stories are often ruined upon translation to the screen, and this film was a derivation of elements from the stories, not the stories themselves. The script was close to the original books, Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass - a blend. I enjoyed the 3D experience and felt it was a worthwhile 2 hours. Saw many kids there, some extremely young. This is not a movie for young kids unless they enjoy nightmares!

you have to remember that Tim B. is very much out of the ordinary. so when he directed this movie it meet and exceeded all of my expectaions of what i thought this movie would be like. He brought these characters to life straight of the books. I wish it would have been longer than what it is, because he could have turned both books into a film and you would forget that it was even a book turned into a movie. thats how greatly he directed they film and characrters. i would pay to see this movie again and again i cant wait for it to come out on dvd so i can keep watching it!!! I was looking forward to this film and was not disappointed. There are flaws - a flat prelude to the actual adventure, and the non- Imax version reminded me of the original House of Wax 3D movie.No matter, this was a very entertaining take on the original story. Alice was magnificent although the actress did make me think that Burton was looking for a Paltrow-type. Johnny Depp was in great form and the fantasy characters were brought to life most believably. Helena Bonham Carter was terrific as the Queen of Hearts. I would take a child to see this since I did not think that there were any really scary parts or characters. A true delight overall.

After hearing the hype on the Internet and seeing the concept art, I was one of the many whom looked forward to seeing the movie. The movie, on the surface, was pretty and engaging. But any emotional aspects were lacking. The movie wasn't bad, nor was it good. It sort of evened out so I didn't feel completely robbed of my afternoon.

Good: a nice blend of Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking Glass, Jabberwocky, etc. to get a 90-minute story. Johnny Depp's performance is inspired, Mia Wasikowska has a brilliant career to come. Costumes & art design are terrific, the plot resolves itself very nicely. Bad: Burton is far less subtle than Cameron use of 3D. The first 80 minutes are completely consistent with late Victorian setting, final 10 minutes (including a completely inappropriate closing vocal by Avril Lavigne) is terribly anachronistic. This will keep this movie from being a classic, and will be unwatchable in 2020.

Although 3D didn't wow me in this movie, it was beautifully done. (I would recommend seeing the movie in 2D rather than paying extra for the 3D, as it didn't really add anything special to the movie.) The young woman who played Alice was great & Helena B. C. was outstanding in her role as the Red Queen. Johnny Depp's character was a little hard to understand at times, but that's okay because he was the Mad Hatter. :-) I really enjoyed the movie overall, and the only reason I knocked a star off was because of the issues I had with the 3D version. The only awesome part about the 3D were the parts of the movie when Absolom and the Cheshire Cat were on-screen.

not really as special as the pavlovian audiences craving another 3-D movie would have you believe. visually nice to look at but doesn't compensate for a lame and uninspired script. a lot of the movie is very reminiscent /borrowed from other movies like Lion, Witch and wardrobe and harry Potter series. Johnny Depp who is usually fantastic perfomed a mash-up of Edward scissorhands and Captain Jack Sparrow. At some point the novelty of seeing a movie in 3d will wear off but Disney needs to get people to sit in front of the big screen somehow.

Visually, this movie was STUNNING. Makeup was great as well. Story wise, it was good, but VERY slow. I enjoyed that they used more characters from the books, most notably, the Jabberwalkie. This was a beautiful and well-crafted movie. Often with movies that rely on special effects, the characters and story are not engaging enough. This is not the case with this movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. It does earn its PG rating, so many of the action sequences might frighten young children, but it would be great for probably age 8 and up. I want to own it when it comes out on DVD. A fantastic re-imagining of picking up where the original story left off.

It didn't have the whole 3D eye popping effects like other movies, but I was GOOD! Growing up, i really didn't really care for Alice in Wonderland, but this movie was AMAZING! The Characters were amazing,the story line was good! It was totally worth the money, I would watch it over and over again!

The first thing I will say is, if you find a theater that is showing it in 2D, see it that way. The movie is beautiful, visually, but the 3D makes it hard to concentrate on the movie as things are blurry as they "pass" you in 3D. I am not a big fan of this 3D craze in movies.
The movie definately has the Tim Burton seal of approval, so if you are a fan, you will love it.
Also, not a fan of the price of the ticket because the movie is in 3D. Raising prices is not the way to get butts in the seats.

The movie was great. a scale of 1-10 10 being the best i gave it a 7.5 because i loved the costumes, and the fact that its a disney movie. This is not a kids movie, kids under 5 might get up set with some of the seens.

You get exactly what you came for. Tim Burton's style is a bit off beat for some but even if you haven't like his other movies you may still like Alice because of the story and the symbolism and references made to the original Carrol story. It is beautiful to look at and it's quirkiness keeps you interested. I took my children all boys 10, 15, 17 ... they all loved it .... go figure .... I Highly recommend it ... but keep your mind open .... don't go in expecting anything and I think you will be happy you did.
