Having seen the MacGruber sketches on SNL so many times, I expected this film to be boring. It was not. It was really funny. In terms of acting, Val Kilmer provided most of the sauce - another pleasant surprise.

I haven't laughed this hard at a movie in years. The comedy is ridiculous, over-the-top crass at times, and chock full of hilarious 80s references. (The song references alone had the theater howling). I'm not even usually a fan of crass, but they went in such a ridiculous direction at times that it had me crying! It's just so well written and executed. The theater was PACKED (and I mean by hundreds because we were in a big LA theater) and people were laughing throughout the entire thing. If you're a fan of comedy, go see this movie.

A male friend of mine wanted to see this show so I went with him. It is very funny - but very gross, vulgar. It's a stupid funny. He thoroughly enjoyed the movie. And I benefit, too, - he owes me at least 4-6 chick flicks (it was that over the top gross).

My teen son wanted to see this. The theater was maybe 20% full, mostly college age, some snuck in beer. The movie starts slow and builds with a mix of 80's themes, semi-real action, raunch, wordplay, foul language, and just generally nutty behavior. I have to admit that about halfway in we were all laughing hysterically and I actually was hoarse when we left! There are some disturbing elements, so not for the feint of heart.

This was a pretty good time. I never thought about leaving (key element in any review for me), it was hilarious--even classic at times--and I definitely want to see it again (on DVD, not at show). So, while I recommend it to others, I'll also add that it's not necessary to see at the show. Can wait for DVD.

Surprisingly hilarious movie about an ex-military hero brought back into duty by the general who trained him a-la-Rambo. You'll laugh at most of the jokes in this action movie about a wimpy hero with mad skills for ripping throats and clinching celery in his buttocks. Don't take any of it seriously and you'll have a good time like I did.

I get the gag and it could have been funny. But it wasn't. It was painful to watch. There weren't 20 people in the theater on opening night, half of them about 12 years old and they weren't laughing either. Some people walked out, some sat there in stunned silence. Hard to believe that anyone could find even a shred of humor in this. It was one of the worst movies I have ever seen....

This was better than we expected. We were not sure that the skit could be made into a feature length film, but they pulled it off. Definately not for children although very childishand crude at times.

In a world where a mastermind villain (Val Kilmer) has stolen a powerful Russian nuclear weapon and all hope is gone, the army seeks out the supposedly long dead MacGruber (Will forte) in a distant monastery. Lured back by the thought of vengeance against the man who killed his wife, he assembles his old team only to accidentally blow them up. He's forced to grovel to the man he has insulted to get back in. He offers him sex. Yes. He goes a lot further. Its pretty raw and raunchy. What is totally missing by way of a script is made up with by loads of down and dirty R rated humor. Its a very sick and twisted film with lots of disturbed scenes. But if you are a SNL fan and young you'll laugh. If not you'll probably walk out. Its that kind of movie. It mocks the 80's big time. At times its on the mark and at others its just odd. But it does have its moments and some very memorable images that I can only hope to one day try to erase from my memory like MacGruber distracting the bad guys by running naked with a stalk of celery up his backside. No exaggeration. Its wrong, its twisted, and at times its funny. But do not bring the kids!!!!!! Seriously!!!
