I truly loved this movie because it reminds me of and old-fashioned love story that builds your anticipation throughout the movie for the ending you hope to see. Some may call that predictable, but too many movies today are filled with nudity and sexual situations that detract from the story. This one just made me smile when I left the theater and that hasn't happened in quite awhile .

I knew Hollywood could make a PG movie that you could take your kid to and not be embarassed to sit through. Very cute and entertaining. Could we please see more of this kind of movie and less of the pushing the boundries PG-13 bordering on R? Why do they think that only crass movies are appealing?

A great story line that keeps your interest throughout the movie. Nice to have a love story that shows that even after 50 years, there is true love that only two people can experience. And then a surprise that two young people that thought they were in love determine that they don't share the same passion in life and part ways only to have two others fall in love. A great movie for the entire family (nice change from so many movies of today!).

My husband and I took our 12-year-old daughter and her friend, and we all enjoyed this light, touching and visually satisfying movie. It was probably one of the first in a long time PG rated movies that wasn't too juvenile for adults or teens. We need more of this type! Vanessa Redgrave was quite fragile, but maybe we were more sensitive to her condition because we knew she died shortly after the movie was completed.

I wanted to see this movie and when asked I immediately decided to go. The vistas of Italy are wonderful - I was there a year ago in Tuscany my "dream vacation. It is a story for romantics to be sure but for both the young and old given the diverse story line. It may be predictable - it may be something we have seen before in that predictability but is is what a movie shoud have...that change to enter the world of "the suspension of disbelief" and take us to a place of entertainment and for those like myself the belief that there is a "happily ever after". Bring your tissues...if you are of a softer heart. For me Vanessa Redgrave is the center of the movie...she adds grace and maturity to this movie that may appear to be for the young only.

The premise of the story is sweet: forelorn women of all ages and nationalities writing out their heart's secrets to Juliet of Verona...and Juliet replying (even if through her "Secretaries)! you cannot help but wonder if those "secretaries" are really there, but you hope it is true.
The locations were breath-taking. The casting is excellent, the writing well done. My only regret was not having the food and wine that the screen was sharing -- I was left with popcorn and bottled water.
My favorite since Under the Tuscan Sun. Italy and Love! Hard to go wrong with that combination.

Vanessa Redgrave and Franco Nero give wonderful performances in Letters to Juliet. Nero's gorgeous blue eyes and his resonant Italian voice are still both powerful enough to make women melt, no matter what their age. Redgrave's performance is as flawless as she is and in keeping with the great Redgrave acting legacy.
Amanda Seyfried gives another great performance and is perfect in her role as Sophie.
Christopher Egan, who plays Redgrave's grandson, has a natural talent for acting, and Egan and Seyfried truly compliment one another.
This movie is enjoyable from start to finish but please be warned that it's a "three Kleenex" movie. Yes, I confess, I cried. With beautiful Verona, Italy, as the backdrop, to the all too familiar love story, this movie is warm, emotional, fun and it does not disappoint.

Letters to Juliet is chocked full of predictability but it does it with great panache. Worth seeing in a theater or renting a couple of months from now - especially if you can view it with someone you like holding hands with and steal furtive glances with from time to time. Vanessa Redgrave and the cinematography add just enough "heft" to make this film worthy of the genre. Yes, Vanessa Redgrave does not pull off the 65 years of age she is supposed to be but her beauty and presence more than make up for it. Give in to your romantic self for 95 minutes and allow this adventure in the "persistence of love" to take over.

Critics rated this movie at one and a half stars. I felt that this movie was one that a person could lose themselves and forget the problems of the world for a couple of hours. I felt that it did have a good story line and the characters were the ones that people could identify with easily.

Awesome movie about the power of true love. A huge bonus the setting is Italy, which in itself breathes magic. Gorgeous scenery, romantic and light. A very sweet story easy to watch. Amanda Seyfried is such a talented young actress, she is a rising star and even if only for her the movie is worth watching.

I loved this movie! It was a little bit predictable, but it was still a sweet movie about true love. I especially appreciated the fact that I heard no curse words and saw no nudity. We need more movies like this. The scenery was so gorgeous it made me want to go to Italy right now. Vanessa Redgrave was wonderful in her role as was Amanda Seyfried. It was a truly enjoyable chick flick. Even my husband liked it!
