I was taken to this by my daughters, who liked the love story and humor of it. I found it a bit predictable and simple. Amanda is definitely easy to watch, and she did a fine job, as they all did. The love story romance could have been a bit more complex and we could have discovered more about Amanda's character, Chloe. As it was, we were fed a love story, instead of discovering one.

This is a good movie. It is a bit predictable, but most romantic comedies are, we all know things will end happily ever after. The film highlight for me is the relationship between Claire and Charlie and between Claire and Sophie. The comedy comes from the way Claire knows her grandson and eggs him to behave well, and the heart tugging moments come with the way Claire acts as a mother figure to Sophie. This is a good movie to see with your sisters and girlfriends.....and if you must, drag your man along, but I think this is better seen among ladies who can truly appreciate it!

I thought that the movie was a cute, predictable chick flick. The acting was good. It was a good movie for the family. No overly offensive stuff. As a bonus, I was born in the Vicenza area of Italy and the scenery was just lovely. I don't know if they filmed on location, but it seemed as if they might have. I have family that live in the beautiful city of Garda and was hoping to see the Lake in the movie.

I found this movie to be very engaging emotionally....happy, happy; love all of the characters, especially Amanda and Vanessa ; really enjoyed the scenery, and made perfect sense to me. Could hardly wait to tell my daughter that she must see it soon to enlighten her idea of "love".....doesn't always follow what the norm says. "Letters to Juliet" was fun, interesting, and gave soul to hopeless romantics. The story was really unusual and told beautifully.

I absolutely loved the movie. I want to go to Verona! The cinematography was a fabulous work of art. The actors facial expressions were very moving. Some of the lines were a little cheesy but what the heck. It was a feel good chick movie. I wish more movies like this were being made. If you can't have than kind of a love in real life you can live vicariously through the movie. A definite 'see it.'

I took my daughter and her friend to see this. We all loved it! Yes, it was predictable, but such a sweet story. I liked that they tied up the plot lines neatly instead of leaving us hanging or being totally unrealistic. It was clean and family-friendly enough to enjoy with my 10 year old and I really appreciate that. (If you are taking your young daughter, though, watch out for the preview of "Easy A.")

Visually stunning views across Tuscany, however most of the script was cliched and predictable. Vanessa Redgrave and Franco Nero knocked the socks off the rest of the cast, and frankly I would have preferred a film with just them, since Seyfried and Egan were lightweights. I was also surprised that Garcia Bernal was so understated, considering the great roles he has played in the past. Go for the scenery, and a few touching moments with Redgrave and Nero, but don't expect much more

Chalk another win up to Amanda Seyfried. The go-to-gal for wildly-improbable storylines did it again. With a storyline so wildly contrived and cliche, and several characters more wooden than Pinnochio, by rights this film should have been a dismal failure. The only well-written parts appear late in the film, done magnificently by Vanessa Redgrave and Franco Nero. But the young Pennsylvanian Seyfried waded right into the mess from the outset, turning plot-driven awkwardness into character-driven substance. Bravissima, Amanda! Film school students take note: Great writing cannot rescue truly lame acting. But great acting can sometimes rescue lame writing. This was one of those times.

The "pros" are: Beautiful scenery, sweet relationship between two older people in the movie, some of the decisions made by the younger people are noteworthy: good choice to break off an engagement with someone before you get married if you sense the person is not the one you are to marry, adapting a response to the grandmother based on her desire to follow through with something shows respect to her and the sacrifice of time and effort on the grandson's part to travel with his grandmother; the choice to communicate what you are thinking and feeling rather than just assume something was taught through the scene of "assuming" he was with an old girlfriend by the same name as a cousin. The "cons" are: The moral standards of the younger people: "pre-honeymoon", "kissing another guy while engaged to another, too much cleveage showing!!!; Also, while the protective nature of the grandson is admirable, the manner in which he deals with his disappointment is rude and disrespectful; The "flipping the middle finger" scene was really not necessary and degrading. This was a good movie to talk about life lessons with the teenage girls we took to the movie.
