A coming of age story which was thoroughly enjoyable, if not terribly original. Cast performances are good; the main characters are fairly well developed, the rest are caricatures. The direction was fine, aside from a few scenes. The mother/daughter relationship dynamic is the soul of this film; but, it is driven by the exuberance of the derby. The "first love" romance is mostly forgettable, but ends surprisingly. A sweet, spirited take on an old story that you've seen before.

'Whip It' is another Ellen Page quirky, fun adventure. Nothing too deep here, just easy to watch, light entertainment. Put your brain in neutral and enjoy.

I really enjoyed this movie, as I always do with every Ellen Page movie. I was a little reluctant because after Juno, her celebrity status really blew up. The movie had a great cast, Marcia (this website will not allow me to put in her middle name lol!) Harden, Ali Graynor (from Nick and Norah), Drew Barrymore, and Juliette Lewis (another one of my faves.) All in all, I would recommend this movie to everybody, and I am looking forward to buying it on DVD when it comes out.

Really a thoroughly enjoyable film. Plenty of laughs, poignant moments and truly good performances by all involved. I was particularly impressed with Drew Barrymore's subdued performance in her directorial debut (i.e., in no way an ego trip). Bottom line: a feel-good movie that was fun to watch.

Whip IT was a movie that teens and parents would learn from. It was entertaining with a message for parents. You can't plan your teens life. Movie had a good story line, humor, life experiences and a message. Drew Barrymore did an excellent job of directing. The character she played was more in the background. Good to see her in the movie but glad the main character were kept in the for front.

This is a feel-good movie, directed by Drew Barrymore, about a high school girl (Juno's Ellen Page) who breaks from her mother's wishes of success in beauty pageants. Instead, she develops a yen to join the rowdies in ladies' Roller Derby. This is not high art, but the performances are good, and it is a fun movie to watch. Not too long, and you feel satisfied as you walk out.

Five of us older women, teacher types saw this and 4 of us REALLY liked it. One hated it. . Ellen Page's Bliss is wonderful to watch. I didn't really notice much bad language. I agree w/Bonnie Boo. The entire cast was very well cast. I would and have recommeded this film. Laugh a lot,. cry a little..what more could you ask?
