The writing was pretty bad, it was not funny! there were four of us that went and we were all in agreement that the comedy was forced, and did not flow, we wanted to laugh, there were just a few giggles but overall it was a huge disapointment. i understand comedy is subjective, and we are not 13 year old boys, so perhaps that is why we did not laugh? i would not tell anyone i know to go see this movie.

There were some moments in this movie that were totally hilarious. Farrell's use of physical comedy and facial expression were amazing. But then he goes and ruins it with silly, over-the-top, cheap shots that any 11 year old boy could make up in the locker room. Wahlberg was pretty weak, but much of the supporting cast was awesome. Even the story line wasn't bad, pretty good for a low brow humor flick...
Shame, because it could've been a great movie, but it left you feeling like they came up with about 10 really good jokes, got lazy, and just used lowest common denominator humor to fill the rest.
All in all, it's not worth the $10+. It's a renter.

Not our favorite Will Ferrell movie but was funny. Did like that a lot of different actors were in it that we recognized. Mark Wahlberg's Character was not a favorite of our's could have done with less of the yelling and insults he bolted out to Ferrell's Character as well as everyone else in it. Just seemed meaningless to the movie. Will not see it again and will recommend anyone who wants to see it to wait until it arrives to cable. Just didn't like the negative tone set by Walhberg's Character. Everyone else in the movie ROCKED! Not recommended for children under 13 because of language! All in all, it was worth the $10.00 total we paid for the movie.

This movie had so much potential, I just felt it fell short. There were some brillant parts and some solid laughs, but on the whole, there jsut wasn't that big killer laugh. I wanted this to be so much funnier, but walk away a little disappointed. Anchorman and Talladaga Nights were funnier, although this was smarter than both of those movies. If you are a huge Will Ferrell fan, you'll probably like this, but I wouldn't recommend for the average movie goer.

I saw a private screening of this and laughed so hard that I brought my wife to it over the weekend. The first 20 minutes are a brilliant spoof of every dumb action movie you've ever seen. The rest of the movie is so ridiculously funny, you barely notice when they get right back to the perfect spoof, but with different characters.
If you liked the Hangover or Date Night, you'll love this.

Loved the chemistry between Walberg and Ferrell. The lunacy, expressions, and relatively unpredictable turns had us (even my wife who typically does not get this humor) laughing nearly the whole time.

I am a huge fan of Will Ferrell and love previous efforts like Step Brothers and Talledega Nights and this movie is simply not funny.
There are few if any laughs to be found, and watching this stinker is actually painful.
It felt as though the director was so worried about advancing a ridiculous and unnecessary story line that he refused to allow Ferrell to do what he does best and ad lib and actually be funny.

I would definitely see this movie again. Non-Stop laughs. Will Ferrel Is Excellent. Everyone did a really great job in this movie :)

If only writer-director McKay had kept doing in the second half what he did in the first half of The Other Guys it would have been a comedy-movie masterpiece. Even so this comedy buddy cop movie is a definite "see it". Will Ferrel's best movie in a long time - maybe his best ever. The supporting cast is okay but, at times, I thought Wahlberg and Keaton were too self conscious. The first half is hilarious and it would be easy to give away too much in a review - so I won't. The movie goes off track a bit in the second half when it begins to focus on big chases and explosions and "big action" when it could have stayed in the funny track it established in the first half, lowered the noise and kept us laughing longer and more. Still - loads of fun!

I think the best Will Ferrell movie yet. We all laughed almost nonstop. Plot not too involved to get in the way of the humor. I want to go see it again asap.
