It is what it is, don't expect more. We went to the movies last night to laugh and that is exactly what we did. Certainly would think twice about bringing someone younger as there is a lot of crude, sometimes cringeworthly (but funny!) humor. A lot of references to past alien type movies - and I love when Hollywood can make fun of itself.
If you want to laugh and enjoy sophmoric humor go see it in the theater as there is nothing like sharing with an audience!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This is a case where the previews set certain expectations about what you are going to see, but as it turns out the movie is completely different. I was expecting a deep thought provoking script with twists and turns that kept you on the edge of your seat, and what we got was a romantic love story weaving in religious overtones.
If they advertised it that way I would have waited to see on DVD.
Loved the chemistry between Walberg and Ferrell. The lunacy, expressions, and relatively unpredictable turns had us (even my wife who typically does not get this humor) laughing nearly the whole time.
Worth seeing anytime, but if you need to laugh, see now in the theater. Sometimes it is better to laugh with the crowd!
