This movie probably has the most star-studded cast ever. It was pretty well acted, and fun to watch if you like almost non-stop action and explosions. There was lots of violence, good SFX, and plenty of explosions. The story and plot, however, left a lot to be desired. It was weak. There was some good comedy and a couple good cameos, but the story just didn't hold up. 3 Stars.

Pretty good cast. Could have done without Jet Li. Don't really know why he was there. I did expect a little more out of the plot, but it was more about the action than the story. I would think this would be a fun movie to watch for anyone who wants to see their favorites at their best. Even Dolf played a good role. So the entire cast is what drew me to this movie! I love all the action stars and on top, they had the Govenator and Willis! This movie is one of my ultimate favorites. And I'm a woman, I hate it when action movies make the women look dumb or stupid or not as smart or whatever as the men and not treated right, but even though there were some torture scenes or whatever, it was still pretty good and the women were treated with respect (by the good guys of course! ) But hands down, loved loved loved the action, Jason Stathom is so freakin awesome with his knives and all! I loved the characters of everyone! This movie has to be one of my top 5 favorites! Way to go Stallone!!! I had no idea he could direct, produce and star in a movie all at once! Plus all the men in here are MANLY men, no wimpy small little guys....except Jet Li, but its ok, he could still kick my butt! I want to get a set of throwing knives now just to sit around drinking, smoking cigars and having contests to see who could aim better at throwing. This movie pumps me up! Loved loved loved it!!!

It is what it is. You come to see this to get what you expect and you get it and more. Stallone knows how to direct action like few others. Plots are incidental. But he does care about the cast. The acting is good as are the special effects, especially if you are wowed by seeing a mean pirate's body actually being blown off leaving only a pair of legs. And where else will you ever see so many of the top 1980s action heroes all together in one film? And who else could bring Arnie back to the movies? The jokes are fitting, the action nonstop.
Sure its a formula, but its a formula that has been time tested and polished. Mickey Rorke keeps surprising us with his acting. As does Jet Li in a role where he is not the top dog.
Its stupid. Its fast. Its fun! Go see it before summer ends!

This was a cool and funny movie! I once again enjoyed going to the movies with my hubby. And this time, my Dad came along too. We all were anticipating this movie and I believe that we got what we expected! Laughter, comical humor, explosives, and awesome martial arts tactics from most of the martial artists. Though I'm not a huge fan of slanderous words, I was able to enjoy and view the movie with discretion. I'm a sucker for comical martial arts movies especially with amazing actors! I do wish there could have been more of a story line tying them all in together; nonetheless, the overall movie was great!

Expendables was a hard hitting and very good action packed movie, Sly did a nice job with this movie. The only drawback or complaint that my family and I had with the movie, were the scenes where they used soooo much foul/vulgar language. The excess use of the bad language in those scenes, didn't add anything to the movie, matter of fact, we thought it kinda took away from the movie. This was a great movie that we really enjoyed but could have done without all the bad language.

I was on the edge of my seat and totally engaged in watching this movie. The action sequences were great, the stunts equally as good and loved the interaction between the team. The only objection I would have would be to the word "f..k" being used practically in every other word.
That being said I am looking forward to a #2 sequel...

It seems like this movie was made in 1988. He (Sly) just can't get out of that era of tough-guy films. These movies do NOT stand the test of time....so corny! The dialogue is embarassingly ridiculous. I actually felt bad for Stallone having to call in favors for the "walk-ons" from Bruce Willis and Arnold. There were some good, funny one-liners and a lot of action, as you might expect. The cast was perfect and it was great to see the bad guys get taken out. This is a guy movie first and foremost but I liked seeing it with my husband.

Holy cow. This movie was action packed from start to finish,and dont forget bloody. This is probubly the bloddiest movie ive seent this year bloddier than the wolfman,will maybe because I have not seen piranha 3d. The scene with Arnold was really good but really short, it was even shorter than a cameo. But still you need to see this movie on the big screen. One of the best movies of the year, but still not as good as Inception. But still go see it please go see it. Best stallone movie

I am not sure what people who did not like this movie were expecting when they went to this movie, but it delivers exactly what you expect for this genre of movie. Action, explosions, tongue-in-cheek humor and about 2 hours of escapism. And these are all the reasons that I enjoyed the movie! There were three women in the row ahead me who appeared to be in their mid to late sixties and they seemed to be enjoying the movie as much as I was!
If you don't take things so seriously and you are looking for a movie with action, explosions, and escapist fun, this is the movie for you! And it has some nice quick views of the New Orleans area in the background also!
